Craigslist Baby Sitter Admits Using Tot In Porn Film - (MSNBC)
A Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to answering an online advertisement for baby-sitting work and then using the client's child to make a pornographic video.
In a plea deal with federal prosecutors, Aaron Jay Lemon admitted Wednesday to producing the video. The 23-year-old from Little Canada also admitted to coercing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct.
The plea agreement says Lemon filmed the child in St. Paul after seeking the baby-sitting job through Craigslist. St. Paul police say the victim was a 2-year-old girl.
The U.S. attorney's office says the case was part of a project that encourages agencies to investigate the sexual exploitation of children over the Internet. The office says Lemon faces a maximum of 30 years in prison.

I guess she didn't do that much in terms of background check or references. Though, he probably could have faked his references.
I have to say that to regular visitors of this site, reading that news story was just a matter of time.
Sad, but someone here comments at least once a week about our WTF ads that many are just an open invitation for trouble.
creepy! I live in the twin cities! ahh creeper! people are so sick! That poor little girl! This is why background checks, references, and more then one interview is essential! wowza!
Just like I've feared...Craigslist is the perfect shopping venue for pedophiles.
Why anybody would hire a complete stranger to babysit is so far beyond anything I can even fathom. Finding a random stranger over the internet and leaving a child alone with them is unforgivable. And hiring a strange 23 year old man over the internet, in my opinion, is so slightly removed from actually signing her kid up for a part in a porn movie that the mom here should also face child endangerment charges.
No, I don't hate men. And yes, I think men can be even better caregivers than women sometimes. But it also remains true that males are FAR MORE LIKELY to commit these offenses, so before hiring a male caregiver, people need to do a very in depth research project on his background, observe him with the child often, and then tread gingerly at first.
Don't bother innudating the thread with stories of women abusers. I didn't say never...but I did say its much, much more rare. And I'm saying that one in three little girls are reported to be molested before the age of 18. Do the math and take every single possible precaution to protect every child you have any possibility to protect. This means not handing your baby over to strange men from the internet. Duh!
I want to punch the mom in this case.
I agree that men can sometimes be great caregivers. My favorite teacher was a man.
In one of my classes we learned that child molesters are 87% male, so just the law of averages would keep me from hiring a male unless I knew him for years. THis is tragic, but I hope it really drives home to moms that you can't hire randoms to watch your kids and hope for the best.

"Craigslist is the perfect shopping venue for pedophiles."
You may remember the Twin Cities woman who was raped and murdered when she thought she was showing up for an interview. But these are isolated cases...
Nanny of 13 years...
In the interest of not making my already notoriously long posts even longer, I typically refrain from including exahustive disclaimers on every post listing all of the possible variations to every topic.
But yes, people do other bad things on Craigslist, and other internet sites as well, besides just seek out pedophilia victims. They also do bad things in real life, through the mail, over the phone and in any other possible ways. On Craigs List you may also find people including, but not limited to, cons, bigamists, thieves and hookers. I was just addressing the pedophelia issue...since that's what the post is about. But my general belief is that meeting people over the internet can be very risky business...so DON"T LEAVE YOUR INNOCENT KIDS WITH THEM!
I seriously believe we need to hold parents far more responsible for doing such incredibly stupid things to their kids. Maybe, since some of them seem to care about nothing than themselves and their own immediate gratification, placing the consequences on them, rather than just allowing their children to suffer, might act as some sort of deterrent to this kind of crap assed parenting behavior.
Truly, I makes me SICK how little regard some parents show for the saftey of their inncoent babies.
For incidents like this.. I'm a big believer in the death penalty for sex offenses against children.
I have found numerous babysitting/nanny jobs on craigslist and have always been alarmed at the number of people who talk to me for like 5 minutes, then hire me to baby-sit thier child, sometimes the next day. Some don't even ask for references. Thankful for them, I am 100% trustworthy and love chldren with all my heart. I would never harm a child in any way. But how do they know I am not some sicko in disguise? They don't, yet they leave thier child with me, let me drive them places and let me stay in thier homes.
When my own were younger, I used an agency. Yes, the fees were high, but it was worth it to know that my children were in good hands. It seems people these days only care about money and don't want to spend thier money on agency fees, instead they take the chance that this parent did and look who suffers the most, this precious 2-yr old child. Poor little girl. I just hope and pray that she is so young she does not remember any of this disgusting situation. And for the sicko who did this to her...I think they should lock him up and throw away the key...and make him write...I WILL NOT HARM A CHILD EVER AGAIN...over and over until his sentence is up!!!!!!
I look at it on the other side too. How many young girls answer Craigslist for childcare jobs. And they do not know who is behind the door. It can be a sexual predator looking to lure someone in their house.
Just like someone stated on here the young woman who answered an ad for babysitting and ended up dead.
Maybe, if you are answering an ad for a position. Take someone with you. Even if they are sitting outside in their car. And let whoever is doing the interview that someone is waiting for you. I think they would understand its a safety precaution.
Is this not every parents fear?

I know this matter is serious, but thanks for that laugh.
So Sick.
