If the purpose of this site is to safeguard children by alerting parents with bad nannies, what is the point of this post? This article has been on the net for six months, the mother fired the nanny. The only thing that will result from this posting is more negative feelings toward nannies. Please don't turn this into a nanny bashing site. Let us use it to report abuse situations in the hopes that the information will reach the parents.

oh Pipe Down. If you don't like this site, why are you on here patrolling it? This is a site about bad nanny sightings. Looks to me like ome sighted one on the Iternet. Instead of worrying about the cause of nannies. Adults with a voice, why not take this time to implore parents to speak to their children, to really speak to their children so that the child feels he/she can tell the parent what is going on. And I am not talking about babysitters here. I am talking about any person who might do a child harm and attempt to coherce the child in to silence. Silence is so deadly to children, so why is a nanny type, allegedly a professional nanny sworn to the betterment of children and the safgeguarding of their well being-why are you up in arms about an issue that relates to children? This story is about a vocal child. A very vocal child. Not every child is.

thanks greg for that story. I did not know it was on the internet. I like this site because I want to know WHAT to look for. Across the board. Everything is relevant.

I think the most disturbing part of this article is that the mother got "the creeps" from the nanny but hired her anyway.
If you don't get a warm, fuzzy feeling about a person, why would you let them watch your child? I was glad that the mother at least admitted her mistake.
It is never OK for an adult to hit a child in my opinion. This person, (if this story is indeed true) is obviously a fruitcake.
That being said, a preschooler should know better than to hit anyone- the child was articulate enough, and the fact that he (if this is indeed true) hit the nanny with a flashlight is cause enough for her to quit. I would quit too. Her mistake was to hit back of course. Again, fruitcake. But too many parents don't punish their children for this kind of behavior. If he did hit the nanny I doubt it was the first time he hit a grownup.
One girl I babysat for used to smack her dad in the face and he laughed and thought it was funny.
When she reached preschool age she was still doing it but it wasn't funny anymore yet they didn't seem to know what to do about it.
For God's sake parents teach your kids not to hit. If they are preschoolers and still hitting, especially adults, you dropped the ball at some point. Like I said, it isn't right for an adult to hit back, but sooner or later SOMEONE is going to retaliate, either the fruitcake sitter or someone bigger than they are. Teach your kids that it is not only not nice to hit, but it is not smart especially if the person is bigger than you. If they grow up thinking they can do whatever the hell they want, then hey they deserve to get their ass kicked (when they get older).
Anyway, who knows what is truth and what is fiction anymore. People are such liars really...
