Great Kids Sighting

I am a nanny, I have been following the blog for about a year and I feel bad sometimes when I see nannies dealing with problem children and parents as I am lucky with my NF. I don't know if this is allowed, but I want to tell a positive story about my NF. The family I work with love animals and rescue ANYTHING - fish, cats, dogs, birds - even a lizard and a caterpillar. I am nannying to work through veterinary school and my female charge, almost 7, wants to be a vet too! Well, one of her mother's friends who specializes in cat rescue found a cat in her yard wounded without an eye, right jaw harmed - the conclusion of the vet was sad - the cat had been attacked and left for dead by bad humans. My mini-me, I will say her first name - Shaunie- and the NF brought the cat - Maity ( like a pirate) back to life, Maity forgave humans and goes out with Shaunie to play with all the kids outside ( and share their lunches which is another story). So last week as we three - Shaunie, Maity and I were on the porch and several neighborhood kids rode up on their bikes with a question - they wanted to know what had happened to Maity ( Maity's appearance in the face is something that you have to get used to) I watched my mini-me hold forth on what the bad people did and how important it was to care about animals. All her friends were listening carefully. Before they all rode off I said   " You guys are ALL good kids to care about animals, and I  want each one of you to tell your mom and dad I said so! They all nodded seriously and rode off. There is hope for the nanny world !

I am really glad to receive a story like this - one of the most disturbing stories in the ISYN archives is a nanny who part of her duties was to feed a little hamster which the kids got for Christmas. They played with and loved it for 2 or 3 days and then forgot all about it and kept it isolated in a small cage in the basement. The nanny did what she could but the hamster became crazy basically - hissing etc. and passed away. I am glad for a different story!

Huh? They asked about a cat and that makes them great kids? More like they’re kids and we’re curious about the cat’s face... but sure. GREAT KIDS!!!

In the article - the Op says that these neighborhood kids play with the cat and like the cat and wanted to know what had happened to it. So often there are people that make fun of and are mean to a child or animal who is different, especially their face - it was a good OP - nice people for a change, I'd like to get more like that !!

What’s going with this site. I know you believe you get a lot of hits, but most like myself do check and leave after 10 seconds when we see no sightings. How about running one on Christmas bonuses and gifts, like the older moderator did. It’s been almost a month with no moment on this page.

Have a great day.

Pretty disappointing to check in after a break of a few weeks and find not only no Christmas posts, but that the grossly offensive response right above mine has not been removed!

Agreed.

Exactly. Site is a joke.

We have been out of town for a few weeks and some new material will be going up directly. If anyone wants to send in any information about their Christmas bonuses we will print it - thanks ! And happy new year!!

Bad excuse. You left a VILE comment up for weeks. If you run a blog that means you run it all the time. Unless you were somewhere wehere there was no internet, you have no excuse. You hardly have any new content as it is and then you left this for weeks. I checked back occasionally to see if that comment had been deleted yet and, honestly, what excuse you’d have as to why this blog has stopped functioning. I’m not disappointed. This is the last time I’ll be back.

anonymous - I am regretful you feel that way. Your point is well taken, I wish I had been contacted about the bad comment. Please do remember that this blog is in fact very unique in that we allow comments to go up in real time, we do not delay the dialogue as virtually every blog in the world does. I am not going to give any excuses or more importantly reasons for the delay, as all our family issues and foibles would really bore you lol. The troll won a small battle but will not win the war as all of our contributors, at least 99.99% are professional, interesting, and reasonable. We had a snafu but we are back - and the professionals and child activists will be with us as we know ! TU again!
