Stepping into her desired position means stepping over someone else...

I was offered a great job, less hours and more pay. Here is my problem. I will be replacing their nanny of three years. Their nanny has no idea she is being replaced which is my problem. Also, they are replacing her because although they told her she could bring her baby with her, the situation is "chaotic and not working to our advantage." As a woman who could one day find herself in this situation, I feel torn. The nanny also returned with her child after only four weeks. I can't not take the job because that wouldn't help matters. I assume they would just hire the next candidate in line, but I feel really guilty. They want me to start on Friday. Help!

Thats horrible that the parents did that to their first nanny. What is she gonna do for a job? I hope they give her some servant pay... As for you: if you plan to have kids in the furture-you can either take the job and start saving a little. That way you can take time off if needed. Or find another position if you don't think it would be a good fit. But don't feel guilty. You didn't do anything. Hou were just cursed with a good heart..😀 Good Luck.

I wouldn't pass the job up. More money less hours, sounds good. Honestly, it was nice they let her bring her child. But it isn't working out. I know from personal experience it's not a good idea. When your child is that little. It becomes stressful caring for yours and someone else's child. Let's say you pass this job up, you feel for current nanny. In reality you pass up this opportunity. They will still look for a replacement. They are not happy with current situation. So in the long run she will be out.
Second, why are you worrying about your job security? Are you trying to get pregnant now? If not a job is day by day. We do not know what the future holds.

Either take the job or not. Whatever is going on with the current nanny is not your concern nor should you feel guilty. The only thing to keep in mind is the parents in relation to the nanny and how it could be you in the future. I think it says something though that the nanny has been there 3 yeara. Thats a good sign.

I would not take the job simply because this shows these people are dishonest.

I am a single mom and my former nanny family did the same thing to me. We are still struggling because of it. I am now in corporate childcare.

My advice is to nanny for people with integrity, and these people have proven they have none.
