I am a nanny to 3 kids(will be one year in Oct.that i have worked for them). I am paid on the books. I recently found out that they are switching to daycare come this fall and will no longer need me. Will I be able to collect unemployment?
Thanks,
soon to be unemployed :(

You should be able to but, you still have 6 months to find a job so get to looking and good luck!
I think so, however like the above poster stated, hopefully you will be able to secure another position by then.
If not, then you may get unemployment.
It's always good to have a Plan B./safety net in case you do find yourself unemployed.
Good Luck OP!~
just wanted to add that I went through something similar with my last job. I lucky in that was able to find work right away , but unemployment was my back up plan so don't be ashamed to apply if you can't find a position .
You should be able to. That's one benefit of being paid on the books. There is no question you worked for them.
I would start looking now, and if you come across a great job before the fall take it!
Why..so the taxpayers can pay for you to be lazy? You have PLENTY OF TIME to find another job.
Starshine, please be quiet, I have worked as a nanny for 30 years, 11 yrs last job, 12 years prior job, unemployed since jan. I would love to get back to work, but there is nothing out there. I started looking in August. I paid my taxes and am now reaping the benefit.
Yes you can, but it's always better to work and have no to small gaps in your employment history. Put your resume on your phone, have your employer write a reference letter and put it on your phone and get out to the park with your charge and get your hustle on. Approach new moms and moms with toddlers talk about the weather and if they ask you anything about being a nanny (they usually do) let them know your looking. If they are interested you can send them a resume and reference letter (with MB's email) and take the next step from there. That's how to hustle a new gig.
Yes, if you are on the books, and let go through no fault of yours, you are eligible.
Starshine your non answer showed how ignorant you are. UNEMPLOYMENT is paid by the previous employer and it's taken out of each check when paid on the books. Did some previous employer tell you that's the same as welfare or something.
