1) Nanny - (Toledo) - **I have a very smart 3, almost 4-year-old girl. I work 7am to 3:30pm 5 days a week. MON, TUES, THURS, FRI, SAT //// WEDNESDAYS AND SUNDAYS OFF. I need someone to teach her things because of the age she is, all she wants to do is learn. I need a very patient sitter, she is a whiner... not gonna lie here. You must come to my home everyday that I am working must be in my house by 6:20 am. I am looking into this option of a sitter/nanny because I cannot afford the daycare bills now. I do not get help from the state for childcare anymore due to my income... however I am being charged to much for my income and cannot afford it anymore. Must be out of school and 18 years old. I dont care if you graduated, I also dont care about your job history. If you can prove to me that you are a fine person with something to offer my daughter, your right for the job. I can pay $300.00 a month. Pay dates are split $150.00 every other friday. I am looking into the option for a sitter as a permanent position. So.... If you live at home with mom and cannot find a job.... maybe this is good for you... If you are working its not... if your in school its not... I will never have back up... your it. I cannot miss work because you are running late. I have a perfect attendance record and expect the same from my child care. The first time your late your not coming back... need to have a car. I dont care if you have insurance. I will not hire someone who needs ctran. I cannot rely on them for my job. I also dont care about the cpr crap. I expect you to call 911 in the event of an emergency not breath down my daughters throat. I also dont care how much college you have on a resume... Being smart in school doesnt mean anything when it comes to common sense taking care of a child. Being a mom is hard.... I know... being a sitter is harder because you are not only taking care of a child, your pleasing me. I am a hard ass. I do not care about the regulars like the cpr and daycare jobs, all that jazz is great dont be shy to bring it up... but thats not how i will decide who i hire. Also, Im not going to waste anyones time posting what needs to be done at my home everyday. Everyone looking through these posts should know that you must feed and play with a kid. There is obviously somethings i would discuss with you during an interview. Thanks for reading.

I had no idea that childcare is only worth $1.50 to $2 an hour. I thought the ads offering $5/hour were bad...

I wonder how many classes of drugs the "etremely bright" 3 year old will learn about with her new "nanny"?

The first one is absolutely insane. Well, they all are... but "I expect you to call 911 in the event of an emergency not breath down my daughters throat" takes the cake!

These are all terrible, but #1!

Oh my gosh! Seriously?

Does she not understand how much better her daughter's chances of survival are if someone is able to start CPR before the EMTs arrive?

There are plenty of folks that would work for this rate or cheaper. Parents probably wouldn't like their methods, but hey it's cost effective.

Also, whie these rates are low, I feel like many nannies are getting greedy.

1234, just curious, what do you mean by getting greedy? Expecting at least minimum wage?

1234, are you a nanny?

I fear for the well being of the children in these posts.

What are their parents thinking?

luckoftheirish said...

If a child is choking, by the time an ambulence arrived, they would probably be dead. I can't read beyond the first post, I'm disturbed by her open willingness to allow anyone to care for her child. I'm only surprised she didn't mention that she doesn't mind if you're on that frivolous registered sex offender site!

Nanny Franny said...

I feel so sorry for the poor innocent child in the first post. Basically it sounds like the mother doesn't care one way or another who or what cares for her child.

It doesn't matter if you are a registered sex offender or convicted child serial killer...as long as you will work this cheap, then please apply.

I cannot believe how damn cheap these parents are. They want the luxury of a private nanny for less than what a daycare charges.

Ignorant.

Bahahaha, based on the type of people she's going to have answering her ad, #1 might be better off if they don't administer CPR on her child, considering the diseases they almost certainly have from their intravenous drug use.

not to be a smart-ass...well yes I do. but choking is not cause to give CPR. That would be the heimlich. It would do no good breathing down someone’s throat if there is something stuck in there.

me said...

If someone passes out when choking CPR is appropriate. Also there is hands-only CPR no throat breathing required.

Phoenix said...

um if they pass out and there is still something stuck in the throat there is no oxygen getting into the lungs, thus none getting to the brain.

Once the throat has been cleared you can do CPR, until then.. nope

1234 said...

I'd consider a nanny with no experience demanding to be paid $20/hr or more greedy.

I've seen a lot of that.

luckoftheirish said...

Phonex........I didnt mention cpr in my post, so Im not sure why you assumed I would think that choking would require cpr.

People dont take heimlich classes. They take cpr classes where they also learn the heimlich. So if OP doesnt care if a nanny knows cpr, one can reasonably conclude that she doesnt care if they dont know the heimlich. What one does not know, one can not do. Hence my comment about no aid of a choking child would likely result in a dead child, by the time an ambulence arrived.

All of that frivolous "cpr crap." Rereading her ad is so depressing.

I've also seen 18 year old nannies claiming "6 years of experience." When I press them about it, they claim they started babysitting their younger siblings when they were 12. Sorry, baby-sitting for a couple of hours (whether it's younger siblings or neighborhood kids) is NOT nanny experience.

Those 18 year olds should claim "6 years of casual, occasional baby-sitting experience" and start at the lower end of the nanny pay scale ($7 to $12 an hour depending on where you live) and NOT demand a professional nanny salary. However, even they should not accept the "below minimum wage" in these WTF ads. There is a happy medium between $2 an hour and $20 an hour

Haha!

Wow spend some time away and come back to some good stuff.

WTF is right!

These people may as well say I don't care about my kid at all.

I see tons of ads on CL, Care.com and sittercity with these 20+somethings who claim they have 12 yrs of childcare experience. They want upwards of $15+ per hour and it makes me sick.

When I was in my twenties, I would never ask for what I ask for now.

I simply had no childcare experience.

Sure, I cared for my siblings and nephews and all, but that was nothing comparable to working as a professional nanny.

I noticed that all these cheap parents, after explaining the pay, say there children are very good, easy to care for, going to be sleeping most of the night, etc as if they're trying to justify it. I am sorry but no self respecting person is going to waste there time taking good care of your children no matter how 'good' they are.. **fp**

What the fart. Seriously, what idiot would seriously think they could ask someone to work FULL time for $20 a day???? If you can't afford your kids, put them in foster care before letting some druggie perv watch them!!!
