Physical description of involved child/children: 2 Caucasian children, one boy Austin Matthew and a girl, Maddy(?).
Austin was about 3 years old, had white blond, very unbrushed hair below his ears and dark eyes. Was wearing a yellow long sleeve shirt, gray sweatpants with a white stripe and navy blue light up shoes. When he spoke to me it was in babble that I did not understand.
Maddy(?) was about 2 years old, light brown curly hair, pink fleece with print with maroon cords and black Mary Jane type shoes.
Address or venue of observed incident: Severna Park Library, Severna Park, Maryland
Date and time of incident: Wednesday December 10, 2008 between 10:15 and 11:00 am
Detailed description of what you witnessed: While your nanny was typing up what she told one of the librarians was an incident report, your children were left unattended for 45mins. When I arrived they were sitting banging on the computers rending both of them useless with errors so she finally placed them at a table. She sat with her back to them while they were suppose to entertain themselves with small pieces of scrap paper, 2 borrowed Arthur dolls and a handful of picture books. Both children were wandering around at times by themselves and your nanny never noticed. They were also climbing on stools and the shelves. Your nanny spoke to them only when she realized that they were screaming or acting up. Her tones were always mean and along the lines of "No" and "Stop doing that". Her only interaction was negative. She never read any of the books to them or walked around with them to pick out other books when they became bored. Austin saw me reading to my charge and approached me with a book, but when he spoke it was all babble and your nanny finally noticed and yelled at him to come on. I left with my charge about 10mins after she had left with them. She was still in the parking lot and while I assumed she put Austin in the car, Maddy(?) went running down the sidewalk away from the car and it was almost a full minute before your nanny realized this.
Description of vehicle, bag, stroller that may aid in identifying involved caregiver: She was driving a Hyundai Tucson Hybrid that was either a very light blue or light green.

Frig off with this crap.
Children that are being verbally abused and/or ignored? Yeah, that's crap for sure, mo fo. You are an idiot.
Sooo... you watched while a 2 y/o ran down the sidewalk for a full minute???
nannies like this just need to be confronted on the spot. It may be uncomfortable but if you see a two year old wondering down the street alone or computers getting wrecked...then DO SOMETHING. More then posting a blog on a website that most people in this world have no idea about. You'd be making more progress with actually being like "hey lady! that kid is walking down the street!" or gettin the kid yourself and being like "hey, you should be more aware of these kids, she almost walked into the street!"
Yeah if this O.P. ran after the child, everyone would be crying she is a terrible nanny. Didn't you read where she had her own charge with her. Do you think shes going to leave her charge and chase another child. What if something happened to the child she was taking care of.
I agree maybe she could have yelled out or something. But I wouldn't leave my child alone to grab another if they were already down the block. Something happened here this past week. A mother was leaving her house in Newark with her twins in the Suv. Nice house. She just stepped out of the Suv to shut the rod iron gates to her house. Some guy jumped in. Took the car with the ten month old twins. Once he realized there were children in there he drove the car back to the area.
And she just stepped out for a few seconds, its like when you close your garage door. That fast
