Pierrepont Playground in Brooklyn Heights, NY 3/29

Received Thursday, March 29, 2007
5:45 pm Thursday, 3/29: Pierrepont Playground, Brooklyn Heights: Nanny (babysitter??) was young, heavy-set, AA girl, reading a book ... charges were twin boys, Henry & Charlie, maybe 4yo?? white kids with black hair, wearing identical navy sweaters - one in jeans, 1 in camouflage cargo pants -- the kids were up on the high playstructure at Pierrepont Playground and began fighting with one another REALLY aggressively. Smashing one another against bars, grabbing, smacking, really really rough - lots of aggressive fighting - babysitter just screamed at both boys (which is how I learned their names) - and cursed about them to any adult within earshot "Those boys just gonna f'ing kill each other. They're always fighting." I'm shocked & thrilled that neither boy fell from the open areas on the play structure - they both came close a few times. She never got up, never stopped them, just tried to keep reading.

Do you think the nanny would have actually gotten off her butt when the ambulance came to take the boys to the ER? I picture her shouting orders and info from the bench. lol.

here's an idea why don't u take care of your own kids and mind your bussiness.

It is sad that a nanny would act that way, but want the sad truth? The parents probably have a pretty good idea of what their nanny is like, and those kids probably do fight like that all the time and I'll bet the parents can't control them either.
I do hate swearing though, especially around kids. It sucks that someone so crass is in charge of those kids, but the fact of the matter is that many, many nannies and parents are exactly like that.

Why are you defending this nanny? Some nannies on here need to be defended, but not this one! There is no excuse for acting like that. Who cares if that is what most caregivers do? If you had said something to this nanny and changed her behavior, then that's two boys whose lives are better off for it. Isn't that worth it?

And 9:49, get off this site if the idea of having a nanny offends you so much! I happen to agree that many nanny employers out there should be taking care of their own kids (at least most of the time), but not all can. And coming on this blog and complaining and insulting people is not doing anything except making you look an immature jerk. Why don't you mind YOUR own business, since that's a phrase you seem to like?
-A nanny who actually plays with her kids

10:23, 9:54 here.
I was not defending this nanny. I was merely making an observation.
You need to chill out. I feel bad for the kids you take care of if their nanny has such a big stick up her butt and a such a chip on her shoulder. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Deal with it. You make your own self sound like an immature jerk.

Part of a nanny's job is to teach good behavior, fair play, and model the kind of manners and language you want the children to imitate. Obviously this woman is a horrible nanny. I think 9:54 has a point about the parents though. I have to wonder, what were their criteria when they interviewed nannies? I know my employers would not have hired her.
A nanny

I doubt she used that language at her interview or even hinted at such.

fg: Of course she didn't use that kind of language in her interview. There are plenty of other things to look for in order to ensure you don't hire that nanny. The education she has pursued, her references etc. can give you a sense of her character, and the quality of care she will provide.

true enough, 2:53 but it seems to me that these half*ssed nannies can act! Next stop: Broadway? Also, resumes' need to be checked out, I'm thinking. I wonder if this is always being done?

Twins! Gotta love 'em!

OMG, I know who these boys are, and I know their nanny. Once I saw her letting them pee on the street--obviously NOT an emergency situation, she just let them for fun. I wish I knew the parents so I could say something to them.

I know the parents, the kids are very rough boys and a little mischievous at times. Parents names are Jessica and Richard Morris .The girl was wrong to treat them that way
