.... What?!

1) Looking for a full time Nanny/Babysitter (Braintree/Quincy)
I cannot deal with another crazy nanny!! I want a nanny that is reliable, that will come to my house everyday and care for my 3 year old. I am so tired of the constant sick calls, family emergency calls and basic nutty behavior. I had to fire my last nanny because she was never here! I am paying $400 wkly, flat. I have been paying off the books, but I am beginning to rethink that whole thing. Actually my ex-husband pays and he needs to rethink the whole thing. I need someone M-F 7am-315pm. Right now I work 2 weekends a month, but those weekends my ex takes our son. On the weeks I have to work the weekend I will be home on 2 weekdays, they change every week, but I will still need you here. It's just easier to schedule that way. I am a CNA at a local rest home and if you know anything about that line of work, I can't keep calling in because my childcare failed to show up!! I come home exhausted and I need everything done! A quiet, clean, happy toddler, recently been to the potty and has had a nap and a snack. I want the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and any left over food wrapped and put in the fridge. I send the laundry out, so don't worry about it but please make sure it is all in the hamper. NO DRAMA PLEASE!! I have enough of my own. My boy is a good kid, he has his 3 year old issues, but otherwise he's great. I don't care if you watch some TV, I let Barney babysit at times too, I just don't want it on all day. I would prefer a nanny that drives. I want a nanny that is not afraid, has the self confidence, and speaks English well enough to sign my son up for playgroups, playdates, story times, etc.. The is a playground nearby and an indoor playground for rainy days. Please be a nanny that can cook. I am not asking for Pheasant Under Glass, but I do need someone who can do more than warm up some chicken strips. My boy has a wide variety of likes. I cannot afford to pay health insurance or anything like that, I'm sorry. When I take my 2 weeks vacation, you can take yours. I can only get the ex to pay for 1 week however, idiot! Anyhow, drop me a line.

Wow is all I have to say. So many parents expecting so much from you and then paying pathetic wages. I especially like the ads that offer free room and board and no other compensation. They expect you to work full time and not have any extra spending money.
Number 41) Be available to watch your child full time and not get paid and have to provide own food???? How does that work?
Did anyone look at that Stormy girls myspace?

Lots to read this week. #16- So if they work 12 hours a day five days a week, plus two weekends a month, the means they work 16 days straight. What do you think this is, the 19th century?

And to #24. So you are happily married with children. Then WHY do you live across the country from them? Red flags all around here.

I'd work for #1, I'd just ask for a wee bit more money! I don't even know what pheasent under glass is. I only hope she doesn't rag on the babies daddy in front of the baby.

Hey village,
some people get remarried. that is how his children can live with their mother half way across the country.
... Just a thought...

Christina-Good catch. I didn't think of a remarriage. DUH.

Those darn "crazy nannies" ;)

The last post is only offering room and board but they have a Mercedes-Benz for you to drive. That's ridiculous if they can afford a Mercedes they should be offering pay. Who in their right mind would nanny full time for only room and board? Nannies have expenses besides housing and food too.

If you can afford a Merecedes its pretty obvious that you should be able to afford to pay your nanny. Do people know they are being so cheap or are they really that oblivious? I would also like to know how many people actually apply for these jobs..I know times are tough.

Not sure how #41 expects the nanny to eat.

It appears as though #37 and #44 are posted by the same person. Intresting.

I'm not impressed by the Mercedes... I've got a neighbor who just paid $2k for an old beater one.

The mother of the 4 1/2 month old baby makes me angry. It's absolutely impossible for a baby that young to be "spoiled."

I'm sorry, but posting a lot of these seems a little cruel to me. What I see mostly is a lot of broke desperate people looking for childcare, or trying to make a living by offering it. You do realize that not everyone can afford nannies, right? And the links to that myspace page -- what's the point in that?

I think the mother with the 4-month old baby was implying that she "spoils" him, and expects a caregiver to do the same. Not a bad thing.

CrankyBK,
I can't afford a Gallardo or a weekly trip to the Spa. Maybe I should haggle with the Spa owner or Lambo dealer because the economy sucks?

Or maybe I should ask for half of the car, maybe without brakes, heat/AC, airbags or a radio. Maybe then I could get it for less....

Well, Cranky, I don't think that "posting a lot of these" is cruel. I sympathize with the broke and desperate people, but if they can not afford a nanny, they should not try to swindle us, nannies, to work for $2/hour. There are government programs and cheap daycare options. We pay rent and eat, too, you know.

People don't think the economy is bad for nannies too? Sorry, I understand that people have to cut back but not in the child care department. I cannot believe that people want a nanny to work for 4 dollars an hour or even 7 an hour.
Clean their houses, do wash and cook ? Weekends too?
You could make more waitressing and have better hours.

Sorry, I don't see what's wrong with #1. As a mother who has hired her share of unreliable nannies, I can totally relate. Constant sick days, showing up late, and wanting to leave early for simple things like going to the bank just don't work long-term. It makes me really appreciate the good nannies we've had.

The only thing I see wrong is the low pay. However, other than basic childcare, it doesn't sound like she needs much. I ask for a lot more and am very involved in my son's life, so I expect to pay more for someone who can really respond to our needs in childcare.

*You need to pick a moniker. And #1 is just funny and crazy! It doesn't always have to be about bad pay.
