Fun in the Sun

OPINION
I was wondering if any moms or nannies had ideas for summer activities. My charges are 12, 9, and 9 months (baby just goes with the flow) and they are boys. I've made a list but I don't want to forget anything!

I nannied for 4 boys in my last job and loved it!! They are so busy! I took them swimming often at the country club pool, we went to the beach, playgrounds (some had sprinklers for the hot days), slip-n-slide at home, lots of picnics, nature walks, etc. I don't know what area you're in so it's hard to say without knowing what's available...but those are just a few!

I live in Wisconsin
I have numerous nature walks in mind among other things.
I guess I was just looking for more hidden gems like cool museums and tourist attractions

If you live in day-trip distance of the Dells, you could find all kinds of things to do! I live in the Midwest, and it gets very hot here, so we do a lot of swimming and indoor activities. My charges are 6, 9 and 12, and the large age range can make it difficult to find activities that appeal to all 3 of them. They do all like when I plan days full of water sports (water gun fights, slip'n slides, spraying them with the hose, etc), or going to the occasional movie, or bowling. I'm also going to set up a reading reward system, since none of them are big readers on their own. I have found lots of great ideas for this summer on pinterest-- fun summer foods and drinks, games, art projects, etc.--some are good for all ages, some more age-specific (my summer board is labeled "Hot Hot, Ooh We Got It" if you want to borrow my borrowed ideas:)

I just posted an article on 5 Summer Activities for kids, feel free to check it out. If you don't find them to be she appropriate enough for you, hit up You Tube. Mom's and nannies always post great ideas.

the summer where i live...its too hot to be outside. a huge pool can get up to 90 degrees...you don't want to swim in that!

but in the midwest... isn't there lots of bugs? my husband is from MN and he would always talk about going fishing and baoting and having bonfires. he just said the bugs were awful

Yes, the bugs are absolutely awful here. It's because it is so humid all summer long, we also didn't have a cold winter so none of them died off. I would suggest going somewhere with AC!

The library might have indoor activities, the zoo, indoor or backyard camping, any nature conservatory, the movies, activities hosted by the city, parades, bbqs, hide n seek, kick the can, hula hoops, sisewalk chalk, bubbles, & paint, kites, water balloons, crafts, lemonade made from scratch together, those are some random ideas. Happy summer 2012!
