Good Nanny Sighting in NYC I saw a few things today. I saw a great, older, African American nanny (short, gray hair, thin, with a light sweatshirt on) with two young girls, one under two and the other about two years old. Both girls had brown hair, the oldest in pig tails in a pink sweater and black pants and the youngest had short hair wearing light pink overalls with a white shirt. We were in the play area and your nanny was on top of everything! Nothing went past her. The girls were two of the best behaved kids there! The nanny even took the children aside on several occasions to "remind" them when they misbehaved. I'm sure some parents would think this nanny was a little strict, but she was very good with explaining to the children the expected behavior and following through. The children listened very well and were a pleasure to have there.

um excuse me but this sounds way too much like a nanny sent this in from herself. not to be rude but i see right through this one.

Yeah right! To the OP, you think someone who spotted this 'so dreamy' nanny would actually take the time to send in an email of such a decriptive way of what the children looked like and what the nanny was wearing? I don't think so. You have surrounded yourself with drama. I wonder if the webhost realizes that the OP/the nanny sent this one in!!!

I see absolutely no reason to think this is fake or sent in by the nanny.

This sounds like a wonderful nanny. Great sighting.

Ah! Another nanny siting, of a nanny that's doing her job! Do you notice these sitings get the least amount of responses? It's so much easier for you "me, myself an I" mommies to respond to trouble. Go put more highlight foil on your head and wax your mustache, and let the "real" women deal with your offspring!

These comments (from "are you joking me" and "chesapeake") are precisely the reason why I won't post on this board very often. I am an observant mom who has posted here about good and bad nanny sightings and, yes, I have included descriptions, even in the good sightings!
Trult it seems that there are people out there who just like to see their words in print and add no value to this site.

This is the first good nanny post I've seen / noticed and I think the idea is wonderful.

Hey! World's Best,
I have been reading your posts and I've got to ask you what crawled up your behind?
If you resent the mothers you work with then go look for work in another field! You carry so much resentment I'd be afraid to leave children in your care. I don't think you are qualified to watch a kitten!
I read all the stuff about your reference letters, and the fact that you stole a controlled substance from your employer, all I can say is what comes around goes around!

Haha... that's funny because I am a nanny and I know very clearly that the play area at the Towson Town Center is no more. The play area has been demolished and there are no other areas where children can play the way it's described here. Lies. All lies.

I am the original poster of this siting and I must say that first comments are offensive. I saw another nanny doing her job well, better than the parents there and I was there with my charge.

Also, there is a play area in Towson. It was moved indoors on the first level next to the elevators right under the food court, but another floor down.

Why must you people get upset and think that someone would post lies and such because they saw something good. My bosses know I do a good job and I don't need to post great things about myself. They let me know how great I am all the time!

OP:
Thanks for a nice post. Ignore the negative Nellies. They must have boring lives.

I am a nanny too and yes indeed there are wonderful nannies out there and they do a damn good job with their charges. I am a nanny and guess what I have never answered a personal call on the job! I will only receive and make calls when the kids are napping and I am done with my chores. When I go to the play area, I focus on them and them alone. For example if a child I take care of comes crying, I wanna know what happened but if I wasn't paying attention how would I know? I don't even sit there and start a conversations with others... After the greetings and saying how great the children are, I focus on my job which is safety of the kids and make sure they are having fun. I take care of the most well behaved children I have ever worked with and I wouldn't ask for more. So whoever is responsible for that first posting I am sorry to disappoint you. Just because you have had bad luck with nannies or maybe not had the luxury of having one doesn't mean that they are all like you. Positive thinking might help you. I also know of great nannies like one who is my friend, she is always at the park engaging the kids in the games .... not sitting on a bench and watching fro a distance or reading a magazine like some nannies and mothers do. There are wonderful mothers out there too who give 1st priority to their kids not chit chatting with others and forgetting they brought the kids to the park/play date/play area.
And the kids can speak for their nannies....ask yours.

This sounds like a great nanny :)

It's always so refreshing to see or read about nannies doing a good job.

Thanks for sending this in OP. I hope the parents see it :)

I am so glad that for once someone posted a positive sighting about a nanny who was actually disciplinig the kids.

A lot of the good nanny sightings are usually something like, "she was chasing the kids around the park for hours and they all laughed nonstop"

I hope this is real because it's very refreshing to know that you don't have to be superhuman to be recognized as a good nanny.

wow, some of you are nasty..this good sighting was no different, description-wise, than good sightings in the past. How does this sound fake? The first two posters sound a bit crazy and paranoid. Relax.

Vanessa,
I am too a nanny and I just took my charge to the play area in the Towson Mall two weeks ago..
The play area does still exist it's in the new level in an inclosed room. It's been open since the beginning of Jan. (=

If there are other nannies in the area..please contact me! I just moved here from WV and I am having difficulty finding other nannies.

Hey baltimorenanny:

I don't know which Towson Town Center you've been in but the one that everybody knows doesn't have a play area anymore.
