Tainted Peanut Product List Continues to Grow...

Wednesday, February 4, 2009
Photobucket The items range from stuffed celery, frozen pad Thai, vegan cookies and trail mix to nut-topped ice cream novelties and candy. Although some well-known companies like Clif Bar, Kellogg’s and Hain Celestial are on the recall list, most of the products are store brands or sold under lesser-known labels. Even dog biscuits are implicated.

I think most Stores are doing their best trying to accommodate their customers about the Recalls. 2 weeks ago I grabbed everything in my house that had peanut butter in it and took it to my Grocery Store and they went above and beyond by accepting my foods without a receipt and I was able to trade most of the items for something else.

Now looking at the growing Recall List, I am so glad I decided to be "safe than sorry" as a few of the products I had in my home are now on the List! My son loves peanut butter and I am so grateful that he didn't consume any of the tainted products.

Thank you so much for putting this up, Jane. xo

Fox and Friends Recall List said...

There is a more complete list at fox and friends, it's updated daily and I think it has more than 1000 items on it.

The items on the Fox & Friends list are more detailed, which is great, but I don't think it's more comprehensive (or up-to-date) than Jane's list (and I don't think it names all of the Pet food brands). But it's still good to have all of this information! Thanks!

How many times are we going to have massive recalls on foods before the government starts cracking down on companies?

I've read reports that this company failed many inspections so why were they allowed to continue producing foods?

I agree, TC. It's outrageous that all across the board they don't do more to protect our food. I can't help but be careful and chose my food wisely for fear it may make me sick, and I hate living this way. I don't feel safe.

I really try not to worry about it too much. I mean I'm the person who eats cake batter with raw eggs (or any batter for that matter) Hah! I rhymed didn't mean to do that...

Seriously I havn't cleaned out all my fridge and thrown away all my peanut butter. I love the stuff. If I'm going to get sick that is the way the cookie crumbles. However I won't allow my kids to eat the stuff anymore. Just to be safe. I figure if I haven't gotten sick from eating all the raw stuff that I eat then I highly doubt I will get sick from peanut butter.

Does anyone else think that maybe the real problem is relying on processed foods? I'm not talking about a once-in-a-while convenience or treat, but a pantry stocked with boxed, canned, jarred, and otherwise processed foods?

Fortunately for me, the only thing in my house that contained peanut butter was *gasp* the peanut butter. The apples, carrots, lettuce, potatoes, tuna, chicken...you get the idea...were all just fine.

If Americans would just stop eating processed food they would not have this problem. Stop eating crap!

Say no,
Even some of the healthy-ish snacks had recalls on them. You can't live in a bubble. No matter how much you try to be careful, there's always that chance.

The last 2 years alone have seen several Lettuce and Spinach recalls for E. Coli.
