Friday

West Side of Manhattan in NY, NY

Received Friday, April 12, 2007
Much to my shock and horror, I saw your nanny smack your child several times across the face, then shake your child back and forth in the stroller. Upon locking eyes with her, she stopped. I was on my cell phone with my girlfriend at the time, walking between a doctor's appt. on West End Avenue/65th and the radiologist's office on 59th btw 9th and 10th.

Nanny: I'm guessing in her 50's wearing an army green coat with same color fake fur trim around the hood. She had dark blue denim jeans or pants. Her shoes were very distinct. They looked almost like toddler shoes in an adult size. They were either dark navy or black with an off-white daisy at the buckle. She has short brown hair and I think she is Hispanic.

Stroller: light gray McClarren Quest with red trim. There was a bright green pacifier in the stroller netting. Very bright green.

Child: around age 3 1/2 or 4 with light blonde curls wearing dark beige or light brown corduroy pants, a navy puffer jacket (waist length), white and navy hat, navy leather sneakers. I'm 99% sure he was a boy, but the scarf threw me off initially because it was very light pink and had stripes. He was also carrying some sort of lovie in his arms. It was light blue, medium blue and yellow.

I followed the nanny and child around very discretely hoping they'd return home. Finally after a few stops and 30 minutes or so, they did. I left my phone number with the doorman at a building called WEST END TOWERS. Unfortunately, the doorman and desk clerk weren't paying attention when the nanny and child walked in roughly 1 minute ahead of me, but they promised to look out for them (I gave the description) in order to identify the parents.

I hope they come through and you call. Or I hope you read this here.

Wow, good for you for following her home! This story is so sad, if she is doing this in public can you imagine how she treats this child in private? I really hope your efforts work and you're able to tell the parents about this woman. If you are able to get in contact please post here I hope there is a happy ending to this story.

This is very disturbing. I encourage anyone reading this to click on the "email this" button and send it to people you know in the area. This nanny should be in jail.

This is the OP again:

When they stopped at Grisdedes (spelling?) grocery store I asked a clerk for a pen so I could jot down more of the description. I told a lady nearby what had happened and later ran into her again at West End Towers. So, this lady saw the nanny and kid as well. Since she lives in the same building, I'm hoping that she'll recognize the kid again and tell the parents if the doorman and desk clerk don't.

There is hope for this one....

Hopefully, we'll know the outcome on this one.

Great job following them around and home, pointing them out to others and a lot of details!

Just one thought - what the hell is a 4 year old doing in a stroller???

Well, now I feel like I have to go back there. I don't think anyone alerted the parents or they would have called, naturally. I'm disappointed in the doorman and desk clerk.

I live in another borough, I have 2 young children of my own and a full time job.

AHHHHH.

Lunch hour is the only option.

Original Poster, GREAT job, can you post what building in the complex? What street etc, apparently there are several in the large complex. Also, the address of WET is 75 West End Ave and that address could be put into the reverse-address lookup in msn white pages and the residents' #'s come up. Call some of them to spread the word! I will!

Can someone print this out and put it by the mail boxes at the complex on a Saturday morning?

This nanny should be in jail.

Updates anyone?

If you're standing in front of that Gristedes Supermarket, you can see the building. It's kind of across the street but a little to the left. It has a green awning, I think.

I didn't realize there were many complexes, dammit.

This was a rather large building, that's for sure.

The lobby is sprawling, and the info desk is on the right side.

Any news on this one?

OP again. I called the management office and spoke to yet another person at West End Towers yesterday since I hadn't heard anything. This new guy kept asking if the nanny was with twins. I told him a half dozen times that she wasn't and gave him the same description I gave here over and over again. I started out feeling optimistic, but now I've lost all hope. One would think that the desk clerk, doorman and management combined would be able to easily figure this one out. I think the bottom line is that no one cares. I'm just majorly bummed out. I have another doctor's appt on Monday, so that will be my last attempt at trying to bring this nanny to justice. I will go back to that building and try to rile them all up again. That nanny was bad news, I'll tell you.

I wonder what happened to the lady in Gristedes who also lived in that building. She said she'd try to id them again as well.

I told her that I was going to post here, so lady.....if you read this, let me know if there's an update on your end.
