Wednesday

Outside the 92nd Street Y in New York City

Received Wednesday, February 28, 2007
If you have two children that were in the care of a nanny today and the older of the children attended drop off class at the 92nd Street Y in NYC today, your nanny exited the building; secured your 1 y.o. child in his stroller and plopped down immediately to nap. And nap she did. The child was awake in the stroller amusing himself. Nanny's eyes were closed for about 20 minutes straight.

Was she on a bench or something? Right there by the road?

Another freak who witnesses an endangered child and does nothing about it. Ever hear of flagging down a cop? Making a phone call to the local precinct? Anyone could have picked up the child and walked off. And what was the 2nd child doing? You had 20 minutes to spare, so you had plenty of time to DO SOMETHING.

You need to give a discription, and more details.

how many possible nannies took two children to the Y today? One had a class and a one year old was in the stroller.

Why do I get the feeling if OP identified the Op she would be slammed for describing her as hispanic, White, etc,,,,,,,,

Personally? I would have walked off with the kid, called the cops, and claim you found him in the street or something like that.

Knowing the set up of the Y, I am sure this is OP is a parent who probably also dropped her child off at a drop off class. She was probably also waiting and watching the nanny AND CHILD the whole time.
I am shocked that you think this is unusual!

I bet I could find a napping nanny every day! 7 on your side? I guess I could run it by Steve.

I am a first-time reader of this site. I googled Steve Bartelstein and saw that he is a news reporter who was disciplined for being tardy. I don't understand why he is so often referenced on this site. Could someone explain this to me?

2:47: yeah, and then the witnesses who saw you unfastening the child from his secure position in the stroller can support the case against you of making a false police report. duh.

10:16 PM, actually, dozens. There are a large number of classes for all ages in addition to the preschool.

Steve Bartelstein is a noon newscaster for ABC 7 New York. I don't watch that newscast but I have met him in person & the guy oozes charisma. So maybe it's just a rabid SB fan?

and to think anybody could've walked off with that child

I had the situation happen when I worked in daycare-the 2 year old teacher fell asleep on the playground. Our class of 3-4 year olds were going inside to get ready for lunch. We took the 2's and let them hang out with us until the teacher noticed her missing class. About 20-30 minutes later she came in the building....

I'm sure NY has child neglect laws...

Was the person fired? I would be if I fell asleep at my job, and I'm not even in charge of small children!

trust me, i work in corporate america and i've seen my share of sleeping people (who don't get fired). haven't you seen the latest headlines touting how heart healthy it is to nap on the job?

Anonymous said...

Are those people you refer to "in corporate America" in charge of defenceless children when they are napping? I dont think so .Stop making excuses for these people!!!!!!!!!
