In about a month, my wife — a stay-at-home mom / homemaker — is going to be stuck in bed for a while. We need someone to fill in during my workday. Our home is in Old Town / Lincoln Park, and it's very easily accessible from many big bus routes that'll take you straight to/from all the trains. Our kids are healthy and very well-behaved... for their ages.
My wife'll be around to answer questions. She's very intelligent and friendly, but she'll probably be on pain-killers. She'll be able to read the little girl a book for a few minutes when you need to go to the bathroom, but little else. I'll be around at the start to help warm them up to you, and I'm rarely more than a couple miles away.
Duties - caring for my family and home
* 1.5yo girl - playing, reading, feeding, diapers, etc. 1-2 hour nap mid-day. She gestures a lot and is trying to speak. She likes to do tons of stuff, so don't even hope to stick her in a stroller or plop her in front of a TV. I'll do her daily bathing/clothing routine, but sometimes kids need more.
* 4.5yo boy - weekdays I'll take him to/from his full-day school, so you'd just play with him while I cook dinner. He's a mostly quiet kid who loves to build stuff, draw, and play computer games. He loves his sister, but not her drool and toy-stealing lego-garage-destructing ways.
* Wife - make her some lunch (e.g. a sandwich and yogurt or fruit) and take it up to her when the little girl naps. I assume you'll make yourself a similar lunch and eat at the same time, just not in bed.
* Home - basic cleaning and tidying. Spills are your responsibility. Paper and toy messes the kids make are the kids' responsibility, but they're your's. When they're done with stuff, you'll need to remind them and help them put or throw stuff away. Dusty bookshelves though.. will likely stay dusty until the kids can reach them :)
Requirements
* Decent spoken English - heavy accents are fine, but no cursing.
* Experience with kids - diaper changing skills, well-tempered, and happy to care for them all day.
* Healthy and able-bodied - you'll need to go up stairs and carry the girl down, many times a day.
* Have a cell phone - in case you want to take her to the park and break your leg.
Schedule
Ideally you'll work 7am - 5pm, 6 days a week with Thursdays off from Monday October 19th through Friday November 20th, or something close to that. +/- 1 day/week, hour/day, or whole week could work, and which day(s) off isn't terribly important. We start eating dinner around 4:30pm (we know, weird, but the girl's in bed by 6), and you're welcome to stay and join us if you'd like.

Looking for a live in Nanny... We would love to have someone to take care of our 6week old. I am headed back to work and need the hours covered from the time my husband and I are not home. He works morning I work evening. Times needed for my child are from 1pm -5 or 6pm some weekends and occasional extended hours for appt.'s etc.
Willing to exchange Rent free room for the child care. Prefer Female 21 or older or 18 and up mature young lady. Must pass background check and have 3 references. We can get the neighbor to do the childcare, but we can not afford her rate.
We are quiet and hardworking, and prefer the same. Please tell me a little about yourself if interested. Please call and leave a message if you would like to be considered. Need someone by the 8th if possible. Will interview this weekend.
