.... WHAT?!

Feature:
1) Nanny to accompany us to Maui (Seattle)
We have a seat on Alaska Airlines and resort accommodations for our ten day stay in Maui (Kihei & Kaanapali) from February 8-18, 2010. You would only need to pay for airfare ($400), food, and any trip incidentals & activities for yourself. Just so you know this isn't a scam, you can wait until we all check-in for our flight before paying us for the airfare. In that event we would only ask that you have cash. Our original nanny had to back out, so we are posting this ad with the hope someone is interested in exchanging a ten day stay in Maui in a 4 star resort for occasional nanny/daycare services while we're in Maui. The nanny will be traveling with us for our 7 month old son. We are a family of four, but want to enjoy spending more time with our 14 year old daughter, who will appreciate Maui more than our 7 month old son. You will not have to watch him constantly, but you should expect that you will be watching him mostly during the day time, with a few evenings throughout the trip. Our son is a pretty happy baby, with no health concerns. He weighs about 21 pounds, and has the usual needs of a 7 month old. If you have ANY criminal convictions please do not bother responding to this ad.
We have the following additional requirements of all applicants:
1) Female
2) Non-smoker
3) No major health concerns or physical limitations
4) Possess a current first aid and CPR for infants certification
5) Possess a current State of Washington ID or driver license
Please have your current certifications / licenses in hand if invited to meet with us in person. We look forward to hearing from any serious inquiries.

2) Re: Nanny to accompany us to Maui (Seattle)
Are you kidding? The nanny has to pay for their own airfair, and for extras? You are only paying for the hotel? Sounds like you want free labor so you can galavant all over and not have to pay attention to your child! If you don't want to be bothered why not just have your current nanny keep him home? Of course, THEN you would have to actually pay her. Pathetic that you want someone to pay for the privilege of taking care of your child.

4) Child Care Needed (Norfolk)
I am looking for child care for my one year old daughter from 7:30 am until about 6:45pm.
I also have a five year old daughter who is in school and will need to join her sister after school. I would pick her up from school at 2:30pm and drop her off.
I would need breakfast and lunch provided for my one year old, also activities that are age appropriate that help her learn and develop, I will be the one to work with my school aged child on her school work, however any activities that you may have that would further her education are welcome, but not expected.
I would need child care for the holidays that are not "big ones” (Martin Luther King Jr. Day; St. Patrick's Day etc.)
I am a laid back mom most of the time, but I do set the bar very high for my children when it comes to their behavior and I have a very very low tolerance for back talk, attitude, and/or bad manners. On this I will not bend and I expect that this bar to be up held when care is given to them.
I am by no means a morning person so I do not want to get out of bed any earlier than absolutely necessary there for I am looking for somebody who is close to Rosemont Elementary School I would prefer if I could stay close to this area. If you are interested please contact me after 7:00pm 757 – 468 – **** OR e-mail me at any time. Thank you Stefanie G****

13) Re: Discounted Housing for Babysitter (D.C.)
It's very possible that this townhouse is a gem of a house, but we are talking about Dumfries, so I doubt it. I checked the townhouses on Craigslist, and most of them go for, at most, $1200. Mind you, those are three bedrooms. Unless this is a special gem of a house, the most a common person would rent it for would be $1200. That's $400 a month savings to drive north from Dumfries to Fairfax at 8am for 45 hours a week to watch two kids. That's roughly a little more than $2 an hour (not including the rush hour drive times) to watch two kids for a reduced rent, assuming you would find the townhouse to be a steal at $1200. Seriously?

14) Re: Discounted Rent for Babysitter (D.C.)
You people are ridiculous. I saw this posting originally last weekend, and you're probably wondering why you haven't received many, if any, responses. You're basically expecting someone to pay you to watch your kids. If they're watching your kids full-time, how are they going to make the money to pay the rent??? Okay, maybe you get a couple in there where one actually works for money, but you get what you pay for, which is you pay nothing so expect nothing in return while this person watches your children.
I suggest: Reducing the rent even more (to $400) if you want a response and not ask them to watch your children full-time but only expect 25-30 a week. Be realistic, would you respond to an ad like that???

17) Nanny Needed (Sacramento)
Nanny needed from 7:50am until about 5:30 pm. M-F with thursdays until 3:30. Pay will be $200 a week as I am a single mom who was forced to go back to work and this is all I can afford. There are 4 children, however 3 of them are in school for the majority of the day and my 3 yr old who isn't takes a 2-3 hour nap everyday at noon. So basically it is childcare for one child all day. This is perfect for a student taking night classes or someone who would like to supplement their income. Very easy job with well behaved children. Must not smoke and you have to have very reliable transportation. Also, cpr trained and experience is necessary. I will not be claiming the childcare at tax time so it will benefit you as this will be under the table money for you. I do not need someone to clean my home but you must keep it maintained, meaning keep it picked up. Please email me at van6942@**** and attach a resume and some information about yourself. Thank you.

22) Why can't I find a Nanny for $4 an hr? (Seattle)
Funny, I see lots of ads where people ask the nanny to watch the kids in their own homes for this amount. I would like to know if anyone really gets any decent help for that.
Clearly I have no right asking such a thing and should be putting them in a daycare for that price, but I work late hours, and don't want to wake them up at 10pm. Plus the extra $ for my driving to drop off and pick up is a negative!
I have 3 kids, so I don't really want any more brought along, and I would like someone who is experienced, will play and pay attention to them, and will help keep the house clean. (At least don't make a bigger mess, I work hard and don't want to clean when I come home. It's pretty messy already with 3 kids of course! I can't afford a maid, so I just got used to the mess. The nanny can too I'm sure, if she doesn't want to clean for free!)
I would pay the $16 an hour that I used to, but I'm now a single mom and just can't afford it anymore. I just want to know if I can expect some freak for that amount, and if daycare IS a better option. I just want the best for my sweet babies, and 4 dollars an hour is it!
I guess you could bring your kids if necessary, but 3 is already a handful, and I don't want a stressed out nanny who may seem to like her children more than my little angels! Sometimes it's only two kids while one's at school, but I never find 5 minutes for myself on the weekends, so I'm sure she won't either. As I said, I want a fun happy nanny! Just wondering if anyone has found a "normal" nanny for that amount, and what I should do. Thanks!

23) Re: Why can't I find a Nanny for $4 an hr? (Seattle)
GET REAL! $4 an hour for a nanny for THREE kids? Sorry that you are in a position to be a single parent, but that is not NEAR enough for a nanny. I made $12 for TWO kids and even that is low compared to what some people charge. A nanny is not just a babysitter. They are part of the family. They help with homework, crafts, kid's laundry, toy clean-up, running them to sports, or other activities, etc. If you can't afford a nanny you could apply for DSHS and send them to daycare or home daycare that accepts DSHS, but don't expect a nanny to do all that is listed above for less than poverty wages!

24) In Search of Outstanding Childcare (Norfolk)
Hello, I am returning to work and am currently looking for care for our 10 month old daughter, preferably in Virginia Beach. My husband and I will both be working full time M-F so we would need care for an average of about 40-50 hours a week (EITHER YOUR HOME OR OURS) As parents, we are easy going but I find it helpful to be up front with exactly what we are looking for. So here goes...
We need an experienced caregiver who truly enjoys working with children. CPR/First Aid certification is not required, however a basic knowledge of it is! Excellent references are required. An open door policy is also extremely important to us, especially if she will be staying in your home. We are looking for someone who has a knowledge of child development and uses it to enrich the lives of children. Interaction and stimulation are a must! Of course we'd like a good blend of independent and interactive times!
If care will be given in your home, we are looking for a safe and clean environment. Smoke-free is a definite need and pet-free is preferable (unless of course there is a way to limit exposure to pets!). Since our daughter is a crawler, the entire area must be child-proofed. As stated before, an open door policy is required when our child is in your care.
If you are interested in coming to us, some friends of ours have an arrangement that works well for them that we would be interested in pursuing. The rate would be $2.75 an hour with a minimum of $110 a week. Perfect for a retired caregiver!
So thanks for reading this and if you are interested, please send me an e-mail with your location and also what a typical day for a 10 month old in your care would include! :)
Thanks again and have a wonderful day!

25) Re: In Search of Outstanding Care (Norfolk)
I have to respond to your posting looking for outstanding child care for your 10 month old. You said you were looking for 40-50 hours of care a week, either in your home or the providers home. You were "looking for someone who has a knowledge of child development and uses it to enrich the lives of children. Interaction and stimulation are a must! Of course we'd like a good blend of independent and interactive times!". But yet, you are only willing to pay $2.75 an hour? Are you serious?? Do you realize that the legal minimum wage is almost three times that much? If you are wanting someone to travel to your home for a FULL work week but only pay them $2.75 an hour....that is both ridiculous and horribly unfair, maybe even illegal. If they stayed at your house for 10 hours a day they would only make $27.50....for the WHOLE day. Do you work a full day for just $27.50? I doubt it. I seriously doubt you would work a 40-50 hour week for only $2.75 an hour. The preschool I used to work at charges $270 a week for care for a 10 month old. That is standard in child care centers. I am an in-home child care provider myself. It is both insulting and demeaning for someone to suggest that we take such little pay to care for your most precious possession....your child. If your family is unable to pay a fair wage to the person caring for your child, then maybe one of you should quit your job and stay home with them. I'm not trying to bash you....just trying to make you realize that you CANNOT pay a person that little money for the time and work they would put into the 40-50 hours they work caring for your child. At that little pay, you are only going to find a babysitter that sits your child in front of a tv all day....not a provider with the qualifications you listed. Good luck to you in finding what you are looking for.

26) Re: In Search of Outstanding Care.... LOL (Norfolk)
I understand that we as parents turn to in home child care because it is significantly cheaper than a center. But O MY GOSH. $2.75 per hour?? For a TEN MONTH OLD? You are joking, aren't you? Wow. And to list all of the qualifications you want...I am actually a provider, and I wouldn't work for that. Period. I have also taken my child to a center, where I paid $160 per week, and he's 3 years old!! Maybe you really just don't know what the going rates for childcare are, but wake up honey, no one's working for that amount of money.

7) Seeking cheerful energetic FT nanny for 3.5 yo girl (Downtown Chicago)
Hi We live in downtown Chicago, and are looking for a cheerful energetic person to care for our daughters between 8:30am - 6:30pm. We are looking for someone who will be part of our family, and very involved in all activities. Going to the park/ zoo/ museums, craft acitivities, swimming etc. are easy to access. Light housekeeping, cooking meals for the child, etc. will be part of the expectations. Driving is a must. We are looking for someone who has at least 5 years of experiences, and will be requiring references. Our daughter will be in school from 11:30 - 3pm, and so those hours will essentially be free, and the person is free to do whatever they want at that time (payment will also be adjusted accordingly!) We are happy to look at creative options - for eg. if you have a 3-5 yr old daughter you want to bring along, that is an option for you. If you are interested in spending time in the city we can provide live in accommodation (again payment/ hours will be adjusted) but keep in mind that we live in a small apartment and at best you will get a couch / air mattress! If interested, please call me at 312 938 **** or email me at sandhyas@****

8) Julie (or moooooooom if your 1 of my children) (Little Elm)
I'm a stay at home mother of 4, home with my little boy(4 years)the other 3 are in school. My baby years are over so I would love an infant to hold and cuddle all day but then my son would also like a playmate so I am open to any age. My home is clean; non smoking. I do have a big black lab but she's gentle. I would prefer a child that is also from a non smoking home (allergies). My son does watch some TV during the day but like me, he gets bored with it easily so it's mostly background noise. For discipline I don't spank (my kids are pretty well behaved so I don't need to. Besides that just leads to more crying doesn't it?) My little one usually just gets sent to his room and can come out when he wants to listen or when he stops crying. E-mail me if you are interested or have any questions.. I am available from 6am until 6pm, but those are flexible. $150/1 child $200/2. I am willing to do a background check at your request and/or e-mail you some references.

9) UPSCALE Nanny for UPSCALE Family (Beverly Hills, Belair, W. Hollywood)
Greetings, I aim my nanny services at upper-scale families who require more than a common baby sitter. I come from a well to do family (doctor/real estate) and understand that you prefer someone with class, intelligence, and poise to influence your children, not just a person to change diapers. I am a LIFELONG honor student - who has never received a grade lower than an A - and can help instill virtue and manners as well as be an enthusiastic playmate and best friend to your child/children. I began my career at the age of 13 (now 20) and have many excellent references. I also have a deep love of animals and am proficient in caring for all types of pets. So, if you require a nanny with sophistication, responsibility, and virtue to guide and care for your children while you are busy taking care of business, you needn't look any further. best wishes, Jennifer 510-502-****

14) RE: Babysitting (NLV) - 18 mo
Did you guys SEE this posting? So, I'm a parent just looking around to maybe share a nanny with someone so my twin 2-year-old girls can become more social with other children. This "parent" posted that they want someone to come to THEIR home to watch their 18-month-old, but no sitter should contact them if charging an outrageous amount of money which THEY CONSIDER TO BE NO MORE than $7 per hour. THE POSTER FLAT OUT STATED they are paying "you" (the sitter) TO SIT IN FRONT OF THE TV AND WATCH THEIR CHILD. You have to be kidding me...seriously? THAT is an oxy-moron (I emphasize the word "MORON"). I've never "sat in front of the TV and watched an 18-month-old (or 2). Oh, and the KICKER is... ON CALL HOURS, no set hours listed for the sitter.., so they're not even promised a full week at the MEASLY $7 per hour. WHAT A GREAT AND AWESOME BABYSITTING POSITION!!!! FIRST PIECE OF ADVICE... if you can't afford over $7 an hour, than SAY SO. There's nothing wrong with that, because ACCUSING people who charge MORE than $7 an hour of being outrageous or ridiculous in their pricing is ridiculous! All I know is; just seeing this posting reinforces that I must be a GREAT parent compared to you, because it seems to me that if the parent expects the sitter to plop their butt in front of the TV, THAT's EXACTLY WHAT THEY DO AS A PARENT. SHAME ON YOU! YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE EVER EVER BROUGHT A CHILD INTO THIS WORLD IF THAT'S THE KIND OF PARENT YOU ARE. ESPECIALLY NOT EVEN TRYING TO FIND A GOOD SITTER WHO WILL ACTUALLY STIMULATE AND PLAY AND TEACH YOUR CHILD!!!! YOU ACTUALLY STATED THE JOB DESCRIPTION IS SITTING IN FRONT OF THE TV. Un...BEE....LIEVEABLE!!! It's parents like YOU that raise overweight, unhealthy, unstimulated and socially inept, self-esteem deprived adults!! Guess the taxes my child will pay one day will be paying for your child's welfare one day, since they won't have enough self-confidence to even make anything of themselves, having been raised by some lazy, selfish person like you. I HOPE YOU READ THIS AND I HOPE IT'S A WAKE UP CALL FOR YOU. YOUR CHILD IS THE MOST PRECIOUS PERSON YOU WILL **EVER, EVER** HAVE IN YOUR LIFE, and RAISING that child will be THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU EVER DO...EVER. And I'm not just some "other" parent ranting at you... I'm a child and family psychiatrist (yup, med school and everything) and most of my patients come from parents like you. Your child is 18-months old and you need to step up to the plate and make your child your NUMBER ONE priority NOW, like every other GOOD parent out there.

22) RE: Looking for affordable Nanny
To the mom who is looking for an affordable nanny, I would suggest hiring a highschool student because I dont know many people over 18 who can live off of $5 an hr in Boulder County. It's less then minimum wage! Do you have any idea how much college is? Honestly! $5hr? Are you joking? Try a highschool student around 15yrs old that doesnt have a car payment, rent, college tuition, or food to worry about. However, when I was in highschool in the 90s I made $8/hr so on second thought, you better rethink that $5/hr. All I can say is Good Luck!!!

23) Seeking Part Time, Reliable Nanny (Fresno/Missouri City)
The job: We are seeking a reliable, fun Nanny to watch our two girls (ages 3 1/2 years and 1 year) on a part time basis. The hours would be around 25/week and the pay is $150/week. No housekeeping or extra duties are required, except that you leave the house in the condition you found it each day. About us: My husband works full time and I will be working in my home office, so I will need someone to watch the kids while I am here, and occasionally I will go out as well. We are an educated, outgoing couple looking for someone who is intelligent and can bring some fun and maybe a little education to our children. Both girls are extremely bright, fun and very friendly. We hope for someone they can come to love and trust and feel is part of their family. The hours: Since my job is flexible, so will yours be. I would prefer to stick with a schedule, but it is one that you can help create around school or whatever else you may already have going on. I would prefer something like this: 10am - 3pm Mon-Thu 5pm - 9pm Friday Serious inquiries, please e-mail back a little about yourself and a contact number where you can be reached, and the best time to catch you. We will be conducting interviews over the next week and hope for our new Nanny to begin work within the first weeks of February. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you!

The Mrs.

Wednesday, July 29, 2009
Photobucket
Last year, I had been working as a nanny in London for a few years and decided that I wanted to move to NYC (I have dual citizenship). I registered with some agencies and straight away I saw a job that appealed to me. The client liked the look of my resume, and before I knew it I was booked to go have a week trial in their summer house in the Hamptons. The night before I was due to leave, I received a phone call from the housekeeper letting me know that he would be picking me up from the airport and telling me that I was not allowed to wear anything that showed my shoulders or legs, as per the rules of the lady of the house. Ok, I thought, maybe it’s a Hamptons thing? Maybe she wants me to fit in with everyone? I didn’t have time to research it so I just shoved all my long sleeved tops and trousers into my case and hoped for the best.

When I arrived at JFK, I met the housekeeper and he seemed nice enough. He gave me a few pointers about how to behave in front of the “Mrs”, as she was called. We reached the house in very good time so the housekeeper took me to the supermarket ; apparently the Mrs didn’t like people arriving early and he didn’t want to annoy her. He must have bought $500 worth of bottled water for her and said that he did so every few days. I later learnt that they employed someone just to keep the pantry in order (and believe me, everything was always in its place anyway, with row after row of healthy foods in bulk and a whole shelf just for water).

At 3pm on the dot we pulled into the long driveway and I went in cheerily , despite my fears. The Mrs. looked me up and down and didn’t even say hello. She took me in to a room and proceeded to interview me. Once the questioning had finished, she handed me the “nanny manual” which was a good seventy pages long and told me to go to my bedroom to study it for half an hour. It contained every bit of information I needed to know about the kids from their favourite Disney princesses to an outline of a circle to indicate how much shampoo to use on their hair. It also mentioned that I had to encourage the kids to say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ but that I wasn’t allowed to use the word ‘no’ to them ever. By this time, I had already made up my mind and knew I couldn’t work for these people. I spoke to the housekeeper, who said I should just act as if everything was fine and he would speak to the PA to sort out when I could fly home. So, there I was stuck in the middle of nowhere having to look after 6 year old twin girls who had obviously learnt all their behaviours and attitude from their mum.

The Mrs decided to give me a tour of the house. When we reached the kids’ room, she opened a door which lead to a massive walk-in closet. One side was for one of the twins and the other side for the other one. Both sides were identical and had the clothes hung up in colour and size order, just like a store. The Mrs proceeded to let me know which knickers (underpants) went with which outfit. Of course, I had no interest at all but nodded in agreement as if I was taking it all in. She then brought it to my attention that the knickers were numbered and that should I pull out the wrong ones and not put them back in their place, I would get a verbal warning. Two warnings and I’d be out. Seriously, I felt like pulling them all out then and there just so she would send me home straight away. After the shock of the underwear situation, I was introduced to the kids who I had to keep with me at all times which was impossible because they would run off in different directions and I needed a GPS to navigate around the mansion. I had brought some arts and crafts projects with me so I tried to engage them in those, which worked for about five minutes, when suddenly I heard a scream and the second housekeeper, a little South American guy, came running out of my bedroom shouting my name. I got up to see what the problem was and he told me to follow him. In I went to find the family’s pet pig with his snout in my bag and the whole room covered with chewed up bits of wrappers from my snacks I hadn’t finished on the plane. I quickly tried to tidy up the mess, knowing that anything with sugar in to was forbidden in the household, all the while trying to shoo the pig out of the room. Now this was a big pig and in the whole madness of the situation, he managed to get my passport!!!! So there I was wrestling the pig to get it out of his mouth while the kids were running wild throughout the house. It was one of those laugh or cry situations and thankfully I saw the funny side of it (these random things always happen to me!!)

Ok, so passport saved and kids safe and sound with some other member of staff, I sat down and tried to call my husband. The only problem was I had no cell phone reception. Arrrggghhh!!! I had no idea when the nightmare would end. Straight after the kids went to sleep, I went to bed but hardly slept for fear that (a) I wouldn’t wake up at the right time (don’t forget I was jet lagged!) and (b) the pig would find his way into my room again in the night and scare me. When morning came, I attempted to make the kids’ breakfast but apparently I put in the wrong amount of oatmeal in the pan and didn’t have the right stirring technique. At this point, the Mrs noticed how scared I looked and took me aside to talk to me. She told me how she had taught her kids to be in charge and eat people alive and that’s what they were doing to me. I agreed with her and told her I didn’t think it was the right fit. She wanted an explanation why, and without calling her crazy and saying that I didn‘t actually like the kids, it was hard to give her a reason that sounded plausible. I wanted to keep it all very polite and civil, bearing in mind that I didn’t know how or when I was going to get out of the place. So there I was just repeating that it just wasn’t right and she kept questioning me over and over so that she could understand the situation and not repeat it in the future (she said she had already interviewed over 100 applicants!!) After a long talk, she decided that if at the end of the day, I was still of the same opinion, she would book me a flight home. Thinking this was the quickest way to get out of there (I still hadn’t heard back from the housekeeper or PA who were both in the city at this point), I agreed. So, I spent the day out with the kids and the Mrs, in the knowledge that I could escape later that evening.

Late afternoon, I was playing with the kids and picked up a Barbie doll from the floor. One of the girls came running over and tried to grab it from me. I tried to get her to say please (not sure why I was even bothering at this stage) but she kept pulling it away from me and screaming at the top of her lungs. The Mrs appeared and asked what was happening. I had let go of the toy at this point and the kid had it in her hand. She looked at me and whacked the doll around my face leaving a red mark. I knew the Mrs. had no intention of saying “no, we don’t do that” to her kid from what I had read in the nanny manual but I was hoping she would at least let her know that it was unacceptable behaviour. NO chance!! She asked her to explain why she had done it and the girl just said that she was mad at me for touching her doll. The Mrs went on to praise her kid for expressing herself so well. WTF!!!

As dinner approached, the Mrs asked me what my plans were. I told her straight that it wasn’t the job for me and she went ahead and booked my ticket home. With much excitement and relief, I packed my bags but carried on helping out with the kids. We set the table for dinner and when the food was ready to be served, the Mrs pulled me aside and told me not to talk to the children anymore if I wasn’t going to be their nanny and sent me to sit by myself over the other side of the kitchen to eat while the family and other members of staff sat together at the table. Of course, I was just ready to get out of there but I had to wait for a car service to come to pick me up. On the journey back to the airport, I learnt from the driver, that I was the 2nd nanny that week to come and leave after 1 day and that they had also had a chef who had walked out after making one meal the previous week.

When I got to the airport, I called my husband (it was about 3am London time) and let him know I was coming home. He seemed annoyed that I hadn’t given it a chance but I said I would tell him everything as soon as I landed. I really couldn’t believe the whole situation and couldn’t wait to get home to let everyone know what had happened; even on the plane home, I had to stop myself from telling strangers about my crazy adventure. At least I have a great story to tell at dinner parties!!!

A few months later I found a job in NYC and am actually in the Hamptons as I write! Thankfully not in the same area as the Mrs, although I did see her in Central Park a few months back . I never knew I could run so fast. Occasionally I still get calls from agencies asking if I am interested in a new job and not long ago, they told me about a really nice NYC based family with sweet as pie 7 year old twins, a pet pig and 2 housekeepers, one of whom is South American and a really nice mansion in a certain part of the Hamptons. Am thinking they are still looking for a nanny……

CL- WTF on I SAW YOUR NANNY by MPP

.... WHAT?!

Feature Ad:
1) Seeking a Nanny, Housekeeper and part time Trauma Nurse (Portland)
We run a small home business and we have three special needs children. We have a very active home with lots of energy and a periodically broken volume knob. We would like someone who is self motivated, dependable, not afraid of hard work and excited to work with children. We would like this person to have at least two years experience working with children, some experience working with children with disabilities preferred, current CPR and first aid training, at least two professional references and knowing how to operate multiple remotes to multiple devices would be a huge plus. That’s what we would like; but if you’re brave enough to walk through the front door, well, that just might do.

We need help with: getting the kids off the bus after school, home work, cleaning their rooms, playing board games with ever evolving and unidentified rules, making and serving meals, cleaning up after meals, changing poopy diapers, changing poopy underpants, referee sibling conflicts, soothing agitated moods, singing the veggie tales theme song, vacuuming, that’s not yours, organizing the art cabinet or keeping the five year old occupied while I do, some grocery shopping and putting it away, getting this child out of that child’s room and putting all the toys this child took out of that child’s room and spread across the living room floor back in that child’s room, cleaning the crayon marks off the wall this child made while you were helping that=2 0child get their toys back, changing beds, getting kids into pajamas, I just cleaned that!!!, privacy means you don’t go outside naked, put that back, deciphering the speech therapist’s handwriting, folding laundry or standing watch over the three WMDs while I do it, explaining why we have to wear pants if the babies don’t, picking up toys outside, will you please stop bugging him, taking out the garbage, some gardening, telling the boys to take their hand out of there, for the love of God let Mommy finish just one cup of coffee, please, PLEASE!, oh my God where did you get that!, playing NERF dart tag while knowing that no matter how the game goes you have to loose and fall to the ground and let the kids fall on your kidneys like a trampoline, fixing broken toys, art projects, running to the post office and the bank and Walgreens for compression bandages and then the liquor store, backing me in any argument I’m having with the husband, don’t put the used Kleenex back in the box, reading stories, playing dress up, making pretend hamburgers, singing the veggie tales theme song, taking a turn standing watch over the youngest during a psychotic episode, organizing the office, setting up the fisher price train, getting out the stickers and some paper, getting the two oldest into the bath and keeping the youngest out of the bath, finding the source of20“that smell”, helping to hold the oldest down while we attempt to administer ear drops, scraping stickers off the TV and digging some paper out of the heat register, because girl lobsters wear makeup, putting in a new DVD-CD-game cartridge-DVD -game cartridge-CD-cartridge-DVD-CD-CD-CD …, soothing head tooth toe ear knee belly aches, cleaning up any manner of biological fluids emitted from a child’s body that were probably intended to appear in a different form or from a different orifice, please go bug somebody else, please let there be enough hot water left for just one more shower, will you please do that in your room, remembering that my kids are neither evil or malicious, cuddles, do you need to go potty, did you flush the toilet, did you wash your hands, did you use soap and water, why is the water still running, please turn off the light, ARE YOU WET!!, some filing, proofreading e-mails and CL posts before I send them … obviously, what did you just flush down there?!?, taking the kids out to the zoo or the mall, going for special days at the park or the pool, going on discovery walks, carrying the middle child back when he discovers his knees are too sore to walk back on his own, finding the !!BLUE!! shirt, ushering the children out of the bathroom when the toilet overflows, finding the plunger and plunging the toilet, singing the veggie t ales theme song, ushering the children out of the bathroom when the toilet overflows again after we tried to flush it before completely clearing the blockage, letting Daddy believe he was the first one to get his little girl to say that clearly, convincing the little girl that Mommy isn’t the only one that can change her poopy diapers, for the last time (again) TURN THAT DOWN!, that’s not a jungle gym, Where-Are-Your-Pants?, taking the ninth turn today reading Dr Seuss’ “One Foot Two Foot”, wrapping gifts, planning parties, going over board with decorations and party favors, changing a wet accident for the fifth time today, undressing muddy children at the back door, mopping the mud off the floor from the one that ran past, telling the youngest not to eat that off the floor, telling the oldest that we just told the youngest not to eat that and that means them too, telling them all that we only have two hands and to not ask again, finding the letter M, playing tickle monster, encouraging me while I try to convince my husband that his aging and saggy body is still as hot as it was at 25, convincing me that when he says I’m as hot as I was at 25 he’s clearly just stating the obvious, why are all the cups and forks in the laundry hamper?, reminding me to calm down when the grouchy old man at the grocery store runs into my handicapped child with his cart because they weren’t getting out of his way fast enough, singing the veggie tales theme song, this is not a playroom, making sure all the kids get the right medication at the right time and it all gets recorded properly, making sure my husband and I get our blood pressure medication, knowing when my husband is right but making sure he doesn’t know I’m ready to admit it, getting everybody’s socks in the right drawer, keeping clean towels and toilet paper in the bathrooms (and yes; making sure the paper rolls the right way), polishing off that box of wine on Friday night after the rest of the house is asleep and the lunch dishes still aren’t washed, vacuuming under the cushions, finding out which side of the window those finger prints are on, finding my phone, finding my keys, finding the $100 universal remote that was supposed to operate everything seamlessly, finding a way to get that darn veggie tales theme song out of my head. And maybe, just maybe if we get time off for good behavior. We could get someone to watch the kids while the husband and I go out for a quiet grown-up night, with mood lighting and wine glasses. A romantic evening just for two; playing footsie below the table and holding hands above the table with our eyes locked in that loving gaze that only two people, who have been together as long20as we, could have. But, probably still talking about what we think the kids might want to do next week.

So, if you’ve read this far and still have even an inkling of interest we’re offering $9.00 an hour for afternoon and weekend help, overnight respite care is negotiable and all the “Gold Fish” crackers you can wrestle from the kids.

2) part time babysitter NEEDED (D.C.)
I am a single mother of 4 in need of a part time baby sitter. The primary hours would be Tues/Weds evenings from 4-8pm with an occasional Sat/Sun morning. Weekends the kids are usually with their dad, but sometimes he has a work committment. The possibilty for other occasional hours for times I want to go out, not work, may be in the near future. Two of my children are older and do alot of the care for the younger 2, but I need someone a little bit older/more responsible to be here just in case. So, this could be the perfect job for an older highschool student or college student. My rates are on the lower side, but it does include a free meal whenever you stay with them. PLEASE have references!!!!! And the sooner you can start the better! smoke/pet free home/close to Landmark Mall.

3) Once a weekend Baby Sitter and Occasional All-Day Baby Sitter (D.C.)
We have a 7-week-old baby, she was premature, so she's very small. The sitter would need to be comfortable and have experience with smaller babies, as of now she's barely 7 lbs. We are looking for someone for a date night, once a week and occasionally giving the mom a break for a full day during the week. Our baby is very relaxed and just loves being cuddled. The evenings are easy, just feeding her once and putting her back to bed. We are looking for someone as soon as possible! Must be a non-smoker and comfortable with two dogs. One is a golden retriever and the other is a Jack Russell mix (he will be put away during work as he is very hyper). References are required, and could start tomorrow night if desired!

19) R U A stay-at-home-mom and want to earn extra $$?? (Minneapolis)
My name is Chelsey and I am looking for day time care for my 2 1/2 year old son Logan. I usually work 3-4 days a week between 11am-8pm. Because of the hours, most "regular" daycares don't work for me, and I don't have anyone to pick him up earlier, it's just me. I have been using a high school girl to watch him this summer, but she wants some time off before school so I need to replace her ASAP. Ideally, a stay at home mom who wants to earn some extra money would be the best solution. I don't care if you have a license or not. I honestly don't make very good money but I could do around $20/day or so. I'm doing $10/day with the high schooler, so double seems about right. Please email me if this works for you! :) I live in Blaine off of HWY 65 and work in Brooklyn Park so Blaine/Brooklyn Park/Champlin would work best or somewhere close to that! :)

21) Childcare Needed 9am-9pm plus weekends and Holidays (Milwaukee)
I have a 2 yr old girl and I need someone who can do in-home care on Mondays and Thursdays from 9AM-9PM and every other weekend (Sat & Sun) from 9-6. I would also need every holiday as well. DO NOT RESPOND UNLESS YOU CAN MEET ALL OF MY NEEDS. My current provider's husband is being transferred out of state in 2 weeks, so I need someone asap. I live in Greenfield and work in Franklin. I am ONLY interested in someone who lives in Greenfield, Greendale, Franklin, or Oak Creek. Again, DO NOT RESPOND IF YOU CAN'T FILL THAT NEED. I hate to be so direct but I am tired of getting responses from people in Grafton!!
I am currently paying $30/day on weekends and $45/day on the weekdays.
Please respond with your experience, the number of other children you care for, where you are located and your rates. If you don't respond with all of that information I'm going to assume you can't read which means you are not intelligent enough to care for my daughter. Again, I hate to be so direct but I've gotten responses from people who only send their name and phone number. That tells me nothing other than you're too lazy to type. Please tell me there is someone intelligent enough to help me!! Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

22) Childcare needed for barely 3y/o boy (Utah)
My son just turned 3 years old this month and he is potty trained. I am going through a divorce and was hoping to get my first teaching job but didn't end up happening so I plan to substitute teach as soon as they need me (already signed up and ready to go). My son and I are living in Lehi with my aunt and uncle near Cabelas. I would prefer to have someone close to the Highland/Alpine exit off the 15 as I will likely be traveling northbound to the Jordan and Canyon school districts. I am hoping to work as much as possible subbing and have signed up in 3 school districts to ensure that happens. But there may be days I do not have work. I need someone who will work with me and not charge me if for some reason I don't have work one day (let's hope that doesn't happen).
I can pay $2 per hour. I anticipate the hours will roughly be 7 - 4PM give or take an hour or so (depends on the school I have to go to and what time they start and end). I can provide lunch and snacks for my son. I do prefer someone who has experience with children and will encourage play as well as creativity and learning. It would also be nice if there was at least one other child for my son to play with. I know that's a lot of information for an ad but I want to lay it all out. If it sounds like something that would work for you please contact email me with information about you, your home or facility (especially where you are located), your family and what your expectations are. Thanks, Christina

27) NEEDING NANNY (Norfolk)
Hey how are you? We are a military couple that needs an in-home care provider (nanny) for two and sometimes three kids on a daily schedule. The type of person we are looking for is a good provider for the children and also has a flexible schedule. I (male) work 12 hours shifts from 6:00 a.m. -6:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. -6:00 a.m. depending on my schedule. She works a civilian job from 10:00 a.m. - about 7:00 p.m. Days that I have off I watch the children myself and the same for her. We just need a regular in-home sitter so that we don't have to rush across town to make sure that we drop them off and get to work on time. We are a warm and caring family that are very particular about who watches are children, which is another reason why we would prefer a in-house provider that can also become more of a friend than a worker to us. We are flexible with pay either by day or hour and we can set up how you choose to be paid. We are looking to pay from $5-$15 depending on your qualifications. We are wanting someone that has a passion for this more then it being a job or pay check. We are both 23 years old and (she) has two girls, ages 4 and 5, I have a 2 1/2-year-old son. They are used to being active and are smart for their age. The 2-year-old is almost fully potty trained, just has to be reminded to go to the toilet but most part will come tell you. We are looking for someone with their own transportation and able to work anytime of the day of any day but mostly between 9:00 a.m. - 6:15 p.m. on week days. We also are looking for a female between the ages of 18 to 30 years old, so that you can keep up with them. We are an AA family but don't mind any race if you don't. If there is anything more or your interested then feel free to contact us. Can't wait for your reply. Thanks!

31) Childcare Needed (Utah)
We recently moved to Eagle Mountain from Salt Lake County. Long story short, the elementary school boundaries have changed, and I need someone to watch my children who can transport my 5 year old boy to his kindergarten classes at Hidden Hollow Elementary school.
Right now, we are paying $1.50/hour per child for my 5 year old and 3 year old from 6:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. care. I'd like to stay around this price because I'm a single mother, but if necessary, we can possibly negotiate this. If this is something you can do, please let me as soon as possible, since kindergarten starts on August 27th, and we need to find care before then. Please call at (801) 931-**** or e-mail (if you do call, and I don't answer, please leave a message because I'm probably at work).

32) Seeking cheap day care (Reno)
I am a young mother of two and seeking childcare for my 2 month old. My other daughter will be attending another child care. I can only afford 45 a week until I start bringing in more money. This person needs to be in the northwest area, have it least 2 years experience with infants, reliable transportation and I prefer someone who is CPR certified. She would need to be watched from 8a.m.-5p.m. at their home. I also prefer a house that is child oriented. I am new at leaving my children with others. I have been a stay at home mom for two years and am very nervous.
So if you feel you are right for this position please email me.

33) RE: Seeking cheap day care (Reno)
You may seriously want to consider staying home. NO ONE is going to watch an infant for $45 a week, especially for 9 hours a day. If you can only afford $45 a week, you seriously need to stay at home. An infant spot can cost anywhere from $600-$800 a month. Even someone with a minimum wage job can afford more than $45 a week. If you can afford to work 45 hours a week, then you can afford more than $45 a week!
