To Drive or Not to Drive - That is The Question

I am annoyed. I am the prime candidate for a nanny position right here in the town where I live. But - the job is being fulfilled thru an agency located 3 hours away from me. They are insisting on an in person interview before hiring me for the position 15 minutes away from me - is this reasonable? It's a six hour drive !

How badly do you need this job? It's not unreasonable for the nanny agency to want to meet you, if they did not, they would not be doing their job - maybe can you skype? Otherwise you will just have to look at it as part of the cost of being hired

No not worth it. Three hours isn’t reasonable to expect someone to drive. I agree with above poster to Skype I did with the agency I was hired with. They are located in a different county and they are the ones that prefer Skype. Worked perfectly. I would never drive than more than 20 miles in my opinion.

The agency is being ridiculous. Besides, the job is not even guaranteed so it's unwise to incur such expenses for that reason. Besides, in this day and age, top notch agencies are able to conduct interviews virtually using different apps like Skype. So if they cannot accommodate that then they are probably not the right agency for you.
