Fellow nannies, how do you find your jobs?

I am currently looking for a full/part time job in Alabama, and I am having trouble finding any good jobs. I am on care.com and I already asked all of my contacts if they anyone looking for a nanny. I have lots of experience and very good references, but very few people have responded to my application. Thus I need some different routes to look at. So fellow nannies, how do you find your jobs? Any suggestions of what I an do? I am wary of trying craigslist…

Regards,
Hannah

Do you have a Nanny agency near you? If so try that. I' also am weary of Craigslist. On Care.com do you contact people looking for a Nanny or do you wait for them to contact you? Maybe try contacting if you haven't. Do you need to stay in your area or can you move? You can try sitter. Com but it seems like everyone low balls you on that site. Let us know how you end up finding a job when you do! Best of luck!

I haven't done any in depth research on nanny agencies yet. I have been having a hard time finding reviews for the ones around Birmingham. I wanted to wait before getting involved with one and see if anyone on here has suggestions. I apply for jobs on care.com, but it seems like the people who reply are usually the $10 an hour jobs :/. With my experience I charge $15-$20 an hour. I have tried sitter.com but they only have 5 jobs in my area and most of them don't even pay minimum wage. Thanks!

Are you on the Premium care.com? I only ever get hired from care when I pay. Also see if any past bosses can put reviews on care for you. Those also make you stand out.

I am premium at the moment. I have 3 great reviews on my profile. Plus I asked a couple of other people if they will review me too. But idk when they will get to it.

I'm from New England, so I have no idea how the rest of the country is as far as nanny rates go.

But it could just be that in certain locations, especially smaller towns, not very many people are looking for, or can afford, a nanny. But you're in a bigger city?

Where I am there are basically only a couple towns where people want and can afford a nanny. All the surrounding towns, people may be looking for nannies, but not really able to pay a decent salary.

I live in north Alabama, and I was on Care.com too. I had to find my job through a friend, who knew someone looking for a nanny. I'm very experienced, but I'm salaried and only make $1500 a month. Good luck finding a job!!
