Question...Am I Wrong?

I've been working for this one family for 3 years now. The children are 6 and 4 and their dad has never once said anything about wanting cameras till this past week,he got them and set them up today. He told me about them right away but I still feel like its a invasion of my privacy even though I knew about them. Am I in the wrong?

I would say it's fine since he did tell you that they were there. Have there been problems in the past? Maybe someone brought up the idea during the holidays when they were with family and he thought he would try it out. I'm sure he's not using it Just to spy on you. Just wants to make sure his family is safe! Are you a live in? Then I would feel a little more like my privacy was invaded but there is still nothing you can really do about it since he told you about them. Maybe bring up your concerns to him, and tell him your worried about your privacy.

IMO - there is not much right or wrong with the issue of cameras - if it were my kid, I would want to do anything to protect her, but as a nanny it's creepy to be watched like that - one thing is for sure - it's the way of the future! It's getting less expensive and it's EVERYWHERE - where you shop, on the street corners, in your car. Alot of jobs have you on canera

Visual recording cameras are 100% legal, and no one has to tell you about them; I personally don't mind them I feed like they protect me. I do however have a clause in my contract that prohibits the footage from being uploaded to the inter-web, ect. Sound, however, must be informed about, period.

during the holidays family members always seem bring things up.put in their two sense lol .I pretty much expected it and was worried I might lose my job. my boss is currently not working and I was afraid the family members would say why do you need her? But anyways I think it's what Rebecca said. Or maybe it was a Christmas gift lol. I would still feel weird after being there 3 years. I would ask them if you have done something wrong? chances are you didn't and the cameras are just there no for a different reason. they are really cheap now. on the plus side now the parents can see just how hard you work and just how much the kids love you, and its good for your own protection. I personally like them and the family I work for has them.

MB here with 13 month old. We have had cameras set up since we hired our Nanny, she was hired when baby was two months old and I went back to work (full time) when baby was three and a half months old. Nanny was informed about them and they are quite obvious.

The cameras were really there for me I love to check in on baby during the day. When I first went back to work I would check in every hour or so, now I check in here or there or if Nanny says baby did this or that, sometimes Nanny will call and say look at the camera b/c baby is doing something new.

As a Mom I very much trust my Nanny, now been with us a year, but the cameras let me peek in on baby so I don't miss baby as much during the day. I'm glad that I had them before Nanny started though b/c I think it would be weird to install them after the fact.
