Crappy Dad Sighting in The Hollywood Hills (RANT)

by anonymous nanny

You and your little girl really charmed me and MB at 1st, you in your nice Sunday suit and your pretty 3 year old blond daughter with her pink ribbon in her hair and pretty pink dress with flowers. You were visiting my charge's neighbors and said how she had grown antsy in church and could you visit for a few minutes seeing my charge's awesome swing set, sandbox, jungle jim and many other toys in his big yard.

My little 2 year old guy tried a couple of times to join in play with your daughter but she would roughly push him down on the ground away from which ever toy she was borrowing. He got the message and would go play on other things away from her so she started following my guy around pushing him away from his OWN toys in his OWN back yard!

Your response to this was to gaze lovingly at her as if she was Mother Teresa. My guy broke my heart a few times looking right at me with a hurt quizzical look as if to say  " now that's not right is it nanny?"  because he has been raised correctly. Finally he only felt safe in my lap for 40 minutes until you took your pretty yet terrible girl away and I could find his mom, tell her what happened and we praised him for a long time for being such a good and patient boy! I am lucky to work with a good hearted little guy!!!

Unbelievable. His child was playing with your charges toys, and he is teaching his child to be rude. That's exactly how she was acting while at your MB's home.

He sounds like this idiot parent I had in my classroom last year: totally oblivious to his child's inappropriate behavior, clueless, and he spoke to her in a baby like voice, not a firm voice. This child ran out of the gate on the playground, ran down the hall away from the classroom, threw toys constantly....the list goes on. His child slapped me across the face when I made her hold my hand after giving her the option of holding my hand or the shape rope; she didn't want to hold either one, ran away from the group when we were lining up to go inside. I brought her back to the group, explained to her that running away was not a choice, and that she would hold my hand. She was squirming to get away from me, and I didn't want her to hurt herself, so I picked her up and held her in my arms. That's when she slapped me. I was beyond pissed, as was my director, who was aware of this situation, as well as my administrator, who was updated frequently. I even made this child cry for 20-30 minutes becuase she wanted to run around the classroom instead of choosing the options of playing quietly in a center or choosing something to do at the table. She attempted to run several times and I made her sit down until she calmed down. After realizing I was serious, she had a meltdown becuase she knew I meant business. She was very disrespectful for a 2 year old, and very smart at the same time, M and D would tell us they welcomed suggestions as to what to do with her behavior, but then they would make the claim they didn't know what to do, and why she acted like that. From mid-November (when I got into the classroom) to end of February (this family left the center per center request) 25 incident reports were written for this child's behavior, which the parents refused to deal with. They wanted me to bribe their children to,listen, and I refused to do it.

If she is like this now, it will be interesting when she gets older. One of my teachers in college said " 'If your child hears the word no when they are young and understands why they cannot do something, you are doing something right. If your child doesn't hear the word no until they are 14, you have a problem. ' "

What did your MB say? Do you see this child and her parents or nanny often? Keep us updated: I'm interested to know what others have experienced with this child.

Why didn't you say anything to the dad then? Sure, his behavior was wrong, but how can he fix it if he doesn't know anything was upsetting you? It's dumb to complain about something you made no effort to stop. If someone's child(ren) is rude to or hurts my charge, I get involved. No questions asked.

this Op was over the phone from a friend of mine who lives in california - the hollywood hills. I got on the phone and asked her your questions. The parents are in show business and are "beholden" to the neighbors. The MB was a little head in sand BUT - keeping an eye and approving of the way nanny was handling it. This is the only time they have seen this little girl, not a neighbor, a friend of a neighbor. My nanny friend is very fortunate, live in, loves the kid, parents worship her etc , so hopefully this kid will not be back

I really enjoy seeing the "crappy parent sighting", I want to see more of them. I'm a nanny and parent, so both sightings are interesting to me!!

I'd rather see more of the bad and good Nanny sightings that was the original purpose of this site.

thank you karen - ANYONE who is wrong to a kid will be featured here if it's submitted and also thank you reflection, we post any nanny sighting - good or bad and greatly encourage any reader to submit one. There are so many nannies that are great who read here that the site does go beyond the original purpose. We will make sure to post a bad nanny sighting tomorrow! thanks to everyone for reading. Don't forget we have a Great Nanny Club which sends you free fun stuff if email an address here

Just a friendly suggestion then- rename the site to something more appropriate... It seems that you're trying to include anything, which doesn't make it very relevant to nannies only. I've stayed quiet throughout this whole transition, but I do miss the old (old) site. I know you're trying your best, but this just isn't doing it for me anymore. Partly because of what I mentioned at the beginning, but also, it's just not interesting. Good luck with this (meant genuinely). I'm heading elsewhere.

I agree. It seems like these things are made up or just remembered from a long time ago. Seems like ISYN is dying a slow death.

I am sorry you guys feel that way -
I saw your nanny " is a well known brand - it's in fact successful. It would be foolish to change the name, actually, business wise. Nothing is being made up - you CAN'T make this stuff up!! We print pretty much EVERY submission. Keep in mind we do want to please as many professional reasonable contributors as possible and everyone has their interest - some people want to see bad nanny sightings, others want recipes and crafts. Everyone loves hearing about money lol, others like anything to do with nannies. We also get complaints about - all of the above !! So we will just keep trying to cover a wide an array as possible to try and satisfy you all. Another thing about the name - you can consider it "creative license" or even Hyperbole possibly. Most people are able to understand the situation. We actually are not dying a slow death - we are getting about 2 thousand hits a day and the face book just got about 500 just today and counting. Are we perfect? no. Are we as great as Jane doe? definitely not - but we are getting email from people thanking us for keeping the blog going. Also many people say they want to see - something- every day. While we can't always be that quick we are trying and to do that you need to include a wide range of topics and - THANK you to all the everyone who does that!!

I don't understand the logic of coming on a free blog and pissing that it's not the way you like it. You're entitled to your opinion of it yes, but if it's not to your liking, then why don't you simply move on and find one that you like? The blog owner can do whatever she likes with her own effin blog. I am fed up with reading complaints from whiners. And yes, I have been a reader since the beginning, and yes, the content has changed but so has the owner! What the hell is so hard to understand? The STFU parents blog was run into the ground by haters...the owner of the blog just got fed up with all the whining about her delay in posting (never mind that she was going through a tough personal time) but so many posters with too much time in their days constantly bitched to the point where she just gave it up---I don't blame her a bit but I do miss the blog. Honestly, coming on a blog to announce that you're leaving---sweet Jesus, save the dram and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
