Hidden-camera video of a babysitter slapping an 11-month-old child, throwing things and handling the boy violently was evidence enough for police to charge 53-year-old Jeannine Campbell with battery on a child.
In the video, the baby can be seen picked up violently and slung by his arms into a playpen. Minutes later, the babysitter kicks a bouncy ball the child is playing with at the boy, then picks up the ball and hurls it at the baby's head so hard, it knocks him over.
Later, the babysitter can be seen slapping the boy on the back of the head so hard he falls over.
Toward the end of the 9-minute video, it appears the babysitter got mad while trying to put socks on the child. According to the arrest report, Campbell swatted the boy 11 times, then kicked him.

Truly horrifying. Really hard to even watch, especially for a toddler teacher/former Nanny... it breaks my heart.
Fry the bitch and put it on Youtube.
Yeah, it does break your heart. It hurts. I am a nanny who loves her job and someone who cherishes children. Someone who is unable to have her own children. Someone who wants them more than anything-
It just kills me.
I don't understand how a person can get so frustrated over a child that small and young??? The poor thing is helpless, just learning to crawl. It is one child. An infant. What is wrong with this woman??? She must be mentally ill. I just cannot understand.
Very disturbing. But bizarre, too, since her husband said she has been caring for children for 35 years with never an incident. I wonder if that's true or if she has developed some sort of mental illness?
Also I wonder why the police came to get her at their home at 2:30 a.m....?
If I were those parents I cannot imagine how sickened and devastated I'd feel. But they kept her on even after she could not explain how a BABY had a black eye. I'm sorry but that is extremely neglectful parenting.
I don't know how the father did not throttle her, after seeing the video.
stay home with your kids, they are only that little once, do what you have to do, downsize your spending and stop being selfish and stay home with your kids!
Monkey's practical advice for single parents is...?
God imagine what the parents felt like. He can't defend himself. This really breaks my heart to see that.
Pure evil in that woman. She should be put down, because she is a danger
Monkey has none. She is probably an overweight SAHM who lives off her husband who is currently sleeping with the lady in Human Resources.
The first thing I saw chilled me. How easily the baby's arm could've been broken. Her sitting in the chair watching TV while the baby was crawling on the floor, and then we don't see anything for at least 4-5 minutes, to which we find on the the nanny cam clock that a significant amount of time has passed. At 5:27, we see the nanny come back with the child, and do so much damage the child could've been seriously hurt. And all this because of socks? Older infants and young toddlers of this age are fascinated with their feet, and taking off socks is a natural part of their development within the first 18 months of life. My best friend at work has a child in her class who is 4.5 years old and he plays with his socks during naptime. lol If this woman cared for children for most of my life, (am going to be 38 this year) then I would think she would've known that a child of this age taking off his socks is a normal thing and no matter how many times he does it, she is going to have to put the socks back on several times during the day. Secondly, the fact that treated him and handled him in this manner teaches the child that adults handle their anger in the same way she did. This is not true. There was a better way to deal with this; if she taught for so many years, she would've known how to deal with the problem. Where was the interaction? The love, the cuddles, and the snuggles? Where was standing the child up on two legs, working with him on his large motor skills such as walking? Where did the years of experience go when she became the nanny for this child and his siblings?
I wonder what happened on the tape that was out of the range of the camera? People like this make good nannies look bad and parents paranoid. If this woman and her husband think that she is going to walk out of a courtroom free, both of them need to be committed. The video doesn't lie, and any judge would out of his mind not to sentence this woman to a jail term and seek psychological counseling, thereby banning her from being a nanny or child care provider. I hope this child doesn't experience any emotional or behavioral issues as a result of this experience and that the family is able to trust another nanny to care for their children they way they should be cared for, with nurturing, love, and above all, respect for the child and family.
Oh that bitch would be dead, plain and simple.
I'm with kittykat... that woman would not still be standing and she probably wouldn't even be alive if that was my child! How absolutely horrible!!
And for her husband saying she's been taking care of children for 35 years without incident...
my guess is she's been beating children for 35 years in families who didn't use nanny cams. You don't just up and become like that one day.
I am re-posting this for Anonymous because from what I have gathered, her comment is true. This babysitter was angry at the Parents and decided to take it out on this innocent child.

I didn't watch it. I can't stand violence, especially towards children. I read somewhere else that she hurt the child because she was angry at the parents. I hope she rots in jail.

that nanny did a horrible thing to a innocent baby but I couldnt help notice the large screen tv in the living room, was mommy dearest working to pay for it, makes you go hmmm
monkeyshines: are you suggesting that the mother in some way deserved this treatment of her child because she makes a good paycheck?
you're disgusting.
it seems that I am the only one who thinks a mom/dad should raise their own children, a good paycheck, exactly choose money and things it buys over staying home and raising your kids, americans are discusting and greedy, if you have a baby dont you want to stay home and nurture it of course not pay someone to do it, I heard about american woman paying Indian women to have babies for them, americans are so disfunctional that is why 1 out of 3 are on some sort of mental illness drugs and are in therapy even school age kids
Monkey, your parents were obviously bored with you and completely dysfunctional, because you're an ignorant clueless ass wth the common sense of a 10 year old.
Maybe your anger at them is what's causing your current problems, but have you ever by chance heard of *needing* things like EMPLOYER-SPONSORED HEALTH INSURANCE?
You know, like for people who have asthma or a transplanted organ and can't BUY health inurance at any price, so they have to have an employer-sponsored plan that costs them %1000-$1500/mo or risk bancruptcy if anyone gets sick or injured? Of course you've never heard of such a thing, you can't see past your little rainbows and unicorns fairyland, and realize you are LUCKY if you are able to stay home with your own kids. Many parents only WISH they could, so STFU until you can get a clue.
Monkeyshines:
Do you ever get sick of trolling this site with the same crap over and over?
Calimom:
Ah, employer-sponsored health insurance. That has always been a dream of mine.
Monkey Shines:
I was in a car accident when I was 7 months of age which destroyed part of my brain and memory. That accident left me with epilepsy and ADHD. Throughout my schooling, I was in SPED classes until 10th grade, when I was "mainstreamed" in all classes except math and science. My mother passed away a few months before my 4th birthday and I had to deal with that, plus my learning issues. When I was 15, my maternal grandmother, who was the closest thing I had to my mother, passed away, leaving me alone. My father didn't know how to deal with me, and therefore passed me from relative to relative. Today, at 37, I am in college, trying to get a degree and I finally figured out how to deal with my ADHD. I am also in therapy to deal with my childhood and mother's death, something that I didn't deal with when I was younger. My father worked FT. And because my father worked FT is the reason why I and children/adults like me are mental? Because we have working parents? You really don't know anything.
Monkeyshines,
I have to agree with the above posters. Some of us have to work. Some of us are single parents through no fault of our own.
I understand your point about being present for the milestones in your child's first few years, but sometimes it is just not possible. Staying home with your children full time has become a luxury, one most of us cannot afford. This, in my opinion, is a phenomenon far more common than putting your children in childcare so that you can earn more money.
Your comments reflect an extreme closed-mindedness regarding the concept of quality childcare and our country's need for it.
I cannot believe someone would treat an innocent baby that way. I was close to tears watching it because I couldn't believe she could treat him so violently. I imagine he must have spent all day crying. He could have had his arms broken or other serious injuries from the way she treated him.
How did the parents not notice this indifference sooner? And there is something seriously wrong with this woman for her unprovoked outbursts at an innocent infant! Hitting, kicking, throwing...my god, I hope she is sent to jail for a long time.
I too agree..many parents need to work and there is simply no way around that. This nanny is evil and I hope that her roomies in Jail return the favor!
Never thought I'd agree w/ CaliMom about ANYTHING.. but..I'll hold the video Camera while she throws the switch or vice versa..just get rid of the bitch!!!!
Hehe, hell must have frozen over :)!
That bitch wouldn't have been alive to be arrested. I would have beat her to a bloody pulp. That man had a lot of restraint not to go over there and kill her. That baby isn't even mine and I feel like I could beat her! You don't mess with people's kids, plain and simple. That's asking for death!
