How do you expect a two year old to want to be with someone they don't know on a long flight? Parents like these are clueless. If you're going to take someone with you on vacation, make sure it is someone that you and your child know very well.

Thanks for posting. I missed it. Thank you! This site rocks!

Looks like both parties tried to get something for nothing.
The babysitter tried to get a free trip to Europe.
The parents tried to get cheap childcare. The parents took the bigger risk. Ridiculous.

Glad to see Judge Judy rake the parents over the coals. I totally understand wanting to take a nanny on vacation for an extra hand, or a night when Mom and Dad want to go out, etc.

But jeez...it sounds as if they foisted the toddler on the new babysitter right away and when it didn't go well, they still wanted the nanny to keep their child off their hands. The real victim in all of this is the poor little kid!

OK, Judge Judy is now my favorite show! I completely agree with all the other posters - what an awesome clip and such insane parents.

Is it just me, or did it seem like the parents were just as clueless at the end as at the beginning? And what a lesson for the poor nanny/babysitter.

I love that Judge Judy made it very apparent that there is a difference between a babysitter and a full-time nanny. And she also told the parents to take care of their own son! That's the sort of thing I want to yell at some parents on a daily basis. Great clip, thanks for posting.

I know that babysitter was like 19, but I can't imagine my parents (even when I was that age) being supportive of me going to Europe for 5 weeks with a family I didn't know. Especially without a contract stipulating what would happen in just such a situation.

the babysitter tried to get a free trip to Europe? um, did we watch the same video?

admit that judge judy made asses out of the parents and the babysitter got the best of them. she applied for a job and she was hired. how does that equal trying to get a free trip to Europe? You really have it in for nannies. What an elitist ass you are.

No, I agree with nannycams4ever. This girl thought she was getting a vacation. She was obviously not up to the task, which she made plainly clear by saying she is a babysitter for her 8 year old sister. She should have never accepted the position.

I don't think she was trying to get a free vacation, her flier said she was trying to find a summer babysitting job. She got one, and it included a trip to Europe. I would have went as well! Besides the fact that since you are accompanying the parents you wouldn't think that the duties would be over strenuous. It sounds like the parents are inept at 1. caring for their own child and 2. hiring & familiarizing their son with a new person. I don't think any child would listen to a new nanny/stranger much the 1st week of a trip where they are out of their element.

These parents are idiots.

@MissManah: I can't believe I agree with you AGAIN! (What is going on with the world? Anyway.)
I agree with you. And I have to say, parents like these are really insensitive to their child's needs. I can't believe they wanted the kid to automatically, listen to, respect, and hang out with someone they'd just met, and do it for 5 weeks!

They didn't even bother to go through an agency. Instead of 5 weeks in Europe - why not 3 weeks - so you can afford some quality childcare.

Unfortunately, I know people like this. They sit around at parties and slightly brag about what's going on in their lives "Oh, the family is off to Europe for 5 weeks, and were taking the nanny, of course."

From now on, I will translate that as: 'we tricked some teenager into hanging out with Billy and we're paying her peanuts for 5 weeks'. Vulgar, social-climbing, ratz.

lol @ nannycams4ever

you are such a loser. you agree with miss mannah...agreeing with you? well, no shit sherlock.

this was a young girl who was looking for a summer job. she was industrious enough to make flyers, she never misrepresented herself, and she took a job she was hired for.

miss mannah: you say you can tell she was not up to the task by her saying she babysat for her sister? that's ludicrous. so she did not work out: many older siblings can get great experience caring for their little siblings. you are judgmental.

this young girl won. let's give her some credit.

I understand why the parents would want to make the most of their time in Europe and appreciate an extra pair of hands. I think such an arrangement could work if they had taken the time to let their son get used to the sitter, given her very specific instructions and left him in her care only for short periods of time at first, in other words, if they had given her the training and guidance she obviously needed as a teenager.
Given the choice I'd rather manage a toddler than a teenager any day, but that's just me...
