Endangered Alert: Missing 6 Month Old And His Nanny - Miami
A frantic hunt stretched into the night Thursday for 6-month-old Riley Archer Buchness, who was last seen with his nanny Tuesday.
The nanny, known only as Camille, has not answered her cellphone or responded to text messages, police said.
The boy's parents said they last spoke with Camille on Tuesday, and when she didn't bring the boy back on Wednesday, they called police.
Authorities issued an Amber Alert for the 11-pound boy, who was wearing a white onesie and blue jeans, with his hair done in a Mohawk and a fake tattoo of an anchor on his left arm.
''Right now, detectives have worked around the clock and are desperately trying to locate Riley and bring him back home safely,'' said Willie Moreno, a Miami police spokesman.
Police said they had only a vague description of the nanny. The boy's parents said they did not know Camille's last name.
Update:
Police say mom lied in missing kid case
Police have arrested a Miami mom who reported that her 6-month-old baby was kidnapped by a Massachusetts nanny and now they say that the 22-year-old woman made up the elaborate story to lure her ex-beau back into her arms.
Police say Meagan McCormic, who was arrested last night, does not have a 6-month-old baby boy.
Miami police say she downloaded a photo of a baby with a blond mohawk from the Internet and told police that the boy, who had a fake anchor tattoo on his arm, had been taken by her nanny. The photo was widely circulated in Florida and an Amber Alert was issued after she reported the child missing on Wednesday.
Thank you Karlise, for the Update to this Story!

"The boy's parents said they did not know Camille's last name."
I have no words......
i feel awful for them BUT how in the world can you not know your nannys last name!!!!! wtf! I hate to say it but they had it coming, that was a recipe for disaster :-( I hope that they get the child home safely...
This is frightening. They aren't one of those people that searched for a nanny at the last minute on craigslist are they? Because this is what I imagine would take place in those scenerios, but call me paranoid.
On a lighter note, anyone see the shopplifting dog on cnn?
The first thing I thought of was Caylee Anthony. This story has a lot of similarities.

She LIED about even having a baby. Ugh.
Sadly, this makes more sense.
Thank you Karlise for that update.
The things people will do to get attention.
I hope she also gets fined or sued for using somebody else's baby's photo
I just read the update on CNN about this story. The woman made it all up! She didn't even have a child to begin with. She had a miscarriage 6 months ago and didn't want her ex to find out....
Now that is sick! And those poor detectives that had to work through the holiday. Can she give them time with their family back? And what about the ex? Now he has to grieve over something he never had!
Even with the new information the story doesn't make sense. So the 'father' never met the kid? How long was he living with the 'mother' and he never questioned why he never saw the baby?

As a career nanny, this is unheard of. Knowing very little about the nanny is just an accident waiting to happen. Didn't they do a background check? You would have to know a last name for that.
In a way, I feel for the parents- child's first Christmas. In others, I don't- before you hire someone to watch your child- you should get to know as much as you can.
Parents sound a little- umm...

RE-POST for Anonymous
I'm relieved to hear this wasn't true, but there's a lesson to be learned nonetheless. How many parents do you think have someone taking care of their children right now, and they don't know any more than their first name?
Parents need to be more vigilant and check out the people that are caring for their children.
I'm sorry but I sadly have to agree with what Millows said but I do hope they get the child home safely Great blog by the way I just happen to stumble upon it.
Hi Nathalie, welcome!
There's an update to this story:
The mom made it all up, it wasn't true. She just did it to keep an ex-BF.
Okay...this is so sick!! Who does this sort of thing? I hope this woman gets punished to the full extent of the law!
That woman is such an A-Hole. I feel like punching her myself.
Anne, I did see the dog clip, too. And I am glad this did not happen, though like you my first thought was craigslist.

An 11-POUND 6-month old?? If this were a real case I'd charge the mom for starving her child!

RE-POST for ANONYMOUS
Anne,
That was my dog, and he is in big trouble. He was supposed to get me a Snickers bar.
Insane!
As for the first post, just HTF do you have a nanny and NOT know her last name? Seriously, what is wrong with people???
Something doesn't sound right with the supposed father.
The 'mother' had a miscarriage 6 months ago. So to make her story believable she would have had to be around 9 months pregnant 6 months ago..that would mean it wasn't a miscarriage but a still birth.
Didn't the supposed father realize the timing was off?
TC
Haha! You're kidding, right? What you say makes absolute sense, BUT, a man doesn't usually pay attention to dates. At least, one who wouldn't mind becoming a father.
However, on the other hand, if you have a guy that is completely against fatherhood, he's going to be counting on his fingers trying to add the dates up!
This crazy woman could have gone out and stolen someone else's baby to pass off as her own, in order to get her stupid boyfriend back.
Thank god she made up a baby that didn't exist instead of snatching a real one!
What makes me most mad about this is that it starts to create doubt when children actually do go missing and perhaps there will be a delay in searching for the next child that gets kidnapped in that area while the police, once duped, investigate the parents first.
I remember listening to the father of Polly Klaas (who was stolen by a man who came into her bedroom through a window and grabbed her during a slumber party at her house) speak about how frustrated he was when the police arrived and first had to go through the routine of checking him and his wife (because most of the time the parents are involved in these disappearances)before they would initiate a search for his daughter. That is absolutely tragic....and people like this lady here are why they have to do that. Sick.
how can people hire a nanny without knowing their last name!? I just can't get around that.
how desperate does one have to be to make a load of crap like that up?
This News Article gives a clearer picture about what exactly happened concerning the Mom who reported a missing 6 mo old.
