Hi, I was at the movie theatre in Port Chester and I saw a strange nanny. She had two children with her, they were about 1 and 3. The 3 year old was there and kind of focused on the movie. The one year old has a binky in his mouth and was climbing the steps and crying and talking and whining and distracting the crowd from the enjoyment of Dr. Suess's Whorton's Who. The child was very nearly in peril messing around on the steps and the nanny looked hungover. She was wearing a sleeveless winter jacket vest and Coach logo rain boots. All parties were white. The boots should help you identify the nanny. This was the 12:00 PM showing on Sat, 3/15.

A Sat afternoon showing of a Dr Suess movie and a one year old was distracting people, running around on the steps? Sounds like any given Sat at the National Amusement Theater In Edgewater NJ to me! If I posted every sighting like this I've seen, almost all parents or siblings with unruly kids in a theater, it would devour the bandwidth. I never allowed my child to act like that in the theater, but it seems to be the norm. :(
... and it bothered you so much you went and got the Theatre Manager, right?
If it was so perilous, you should've reported it.
Hmmm hung over? I have an idea she might have been sickor worn out from a child that sounded sick or just fussy. I would have told the manager if the child was being neglected. I wait until the dvd comes out for movies so the kids do not anoy other people at the movies especially a little guy a yr old.
same here. kids under 3 are too young to sit still for that long!
I took mine to his first movie when he was 5, and he was a perfect angel!
Im wondering what kind of mother/father sends her 1 yr old to a movie with her nanny? I have been a nanny for 10 yrs and no parent would allow me to take their 1 yr old to a movie.
She looked hungover?
Another BOGUS bad nanny sighting. Get a damn hobby.
It could have been the mom with a bad case of the flu. If you had it, you know you look hungover. Maybe, no one to help her watch the kids. So she thought I will just take them out
Let us not assume the sighting is unreal, no matter how it looks.
Maybe OP doesn't give very good details, or not enough. But either way, until Jane finds out otherwise, we should believe the poster.
Maybe she had the flu- she looked like me when I had a hangover. She was a young nanny working on a Saturday. She was tired, dragging, grumpy and not in to either kid. Her repsonses were delayed when it came time to go after the little one. I am sorry you could not see what I saw. Bogus, my ass. But as someone else stated, a child that young shouldnt go to the movies! Hungover nanny or not.
That was me above. I am the OP of the post.
Haha...so ridiculous...those children weren't in danger...they were just an inconvenience...
For all you know it was the mother out with her children.
And ok, I agree that a child that young shouldn't go to the movies...but that's grounds for a bad nanny sighting? I have a strong feeling that if she was in fact the nanny, she was asked to bring them to the movies. I doubt she snuck behind the parent's back. I could be wrong, but it seems highly unlikely.
I'm sorry she disrupted your movie...that must have been annoying..but to accuse a worn out mother/nanny/whoeever it was of inadequate care...that's going a bit far.
How could you tell the person was hungover when movie theaters are dark.
10:32, I thought the same exact thing!
I also wondered if it could have been an older sibling, cousin or young aunt watching the kids while the mother ran errands. Regardless of who it was, I highly doubt she snuck out to the movies and saw Horton without the parents consent. The weather yesterday was iffy so she probably thought it was a way to get them out for a few hours.
Very nearly in peril on the steps? That sounds like a bit much. Movie steps are ususally long, low and very wide. I think you were more annoyed that the baby was distracting you. Anyone who attends a matinee showing of a kid's flick has to expect a certain amount of distracion. Did you say anything ot the 'nanny' or to the manager?

The lengths you are going through to defend this nanny are odd since you were not there. I was there. She was the most hated person ever in a theatre. She had no control over her kids and was just a dreadful person. Her solution at one point was to sit on the steps of the theater with the older girl and let the child walk up and down them. Talk about blocking a fire exit. And the theatres arent that dark, especially when you are watching a bright cartoon. And she was sitting by the aisle in the first row of the second band of seats. The ones meant for handicapped people.
OP, I'm not the only one who thinks your claims are ridiculous.
The most hated person EVER in a theatre...
Really?
Now I know your accusation is BOGUS (I'm going to start using the word bogus in everyday conversation from now on..bringin it back)...
Like previous commenters said, how could you tell she was even the nanny, nevermind whether or not she was hungover. The reason I'm disputing this so strongly is because your claims have NO merit. Just sounds like you were annoyed and making a bunch of generalizations and exaggerations.
You sound like the dreadful person...whoever this woman is just sounds like she was overwhelmed.
It happens to the best of us from time to time.

Could we please be a little bit nicer and not so harsh towards OP? I'm sure she meant well.
If we make it a habit of attacking every person who tries to post a bad Nanny sighting, they will stop.
If you don't believe the post, that is absolutely your perogative, but we shouldn't harp on it.
☺
I didn't think I was being particularly harsh, but I'll watch it.
"Her solution at one point was to sit on the steps of the theater with the older girl and let the child walk up and down them. Talk about blocking a fire exit."
I wouldve done that too! and chances are.. if there was a fire.. she would most likely be leaving too dont ya think? in the words of Mitch Hedberg/comedian.. "if you are flammable and have legs.. you are never blocking a fire exit" .. lol
Hahahaha good call on the Mitch.
"I hope the next time I move I get a real easy phone number, something that's real easy to remember. Something like two two two two two two two two. I would say 'Sweet.' And then people would say, 'Mitch, how do I get a hold of you?' I'd say, 'Just press two for a while. And when I answer, you will know you have pressed two enough.'

What's wrong with bringing a 1 year old to a movie theater if you have older siblings you also care for? I go to the National Amusement cinema nearby with my 6,4 and 18 month old. Always a matinee around lunchtime. We get lunch, the kids play in the play area (the baby loves the light up floor mat) and then we see the show. Sure the baby is not the reason we are there, but should his older siblings be deprived of seeing a movie in a theater because of him? I bring a binky, and a bottle and a toy or two. If he cries, we all leave (that's only happened once), but he does sometimes giggle and laugh during the show. If you don't want be disturbed by young children don't go to a matinee showing of a cartoon.
This happened on a Saturday. I think if you take a young child to the show, you should definitely keep it to a matinee, and during the week. This was on a Saturday. No thank you. The theater is packed enough without having to deal with some wayward 1 year old.
I think I am with I am with the majority.
First of all the nanny was probally forced by the childrens parents to take them to the movies and "get out of the house", and how can you tell if someone is hung over in the movie theatre. Being a nanny she probally works no less than 50+hours......she just might be a little tired!!!!
Get real, and get a life rather than trying to destroy someone else's through the internet
