glad to hear there were no bad nannies today! i do however have a question. why do people put those plastic covers over the stroller? is it to protect the baby from the wind? or maybe pollution? they seem like a good idea but i don't understand why people do it. someone please explain this to me!

3rd from left, is that Maggie?

Awesome, awesome picture. Is it me or is the woman on the left pushing a discount stroller?

The plastic cover keeps your baby fresher longer!

I like the woman on the left who didn't conform.

That said, I wonder if they moved out of the way for pedestrians, or if they continued to hog the entire sidewalk without budging at any point.

I don't like sidewalk hogs.

I love it that they are all mommies. Smiling. Happy. Moms!

Beautiful.

Now get some summer shots so we OCers can have a look at their warm weather wardrobes.

Yes, when it isn't raining the plastic can be used to shield the baby from the wind.

thank you for explaining the plastic stroller covers to me! i especially liked jmt's response! i have seen people on the street with these, but didn't want to ask a stranger what they were for! so now i know, to keep babies fresher longer, or if it's raining i should use a stroller cover! :)

How do you know these are moms and not nannies, aunts, etc.

They look like married and happy, beautiful New York mothers to me.

Of course I am used to such sights.

The one next to the light blue stroller looks like she's of AMA. I like that. I was a mother of AMA myself...twice.

That would be "advanced maternal age."

Go 35+ !

looking at the larger size, they all look BEAUTIFUL to me!

if you click on the pic you can check out a huge version. I dont think the woman is AMA. I am. Works for me!

To: 12: 10AM,

The woman on the left is not pushing a "discount stroller", she is pushing a functional stroller. It appears to be one of the easy fold strollers that go anywhere. This woman wont need to but a new stroller in six months. You should see how cramped the kids get when they outgrow the limiting and really expensive strollers. Funny thing is, some of the parents who get the really expensive strollers can't actually affort to get a more accomodating stroller when their kids outgrow the expensive strollers, so they just stuff their growing kids in the cramped expensive strollers. The scenario then cries out "mismanagement of funds!". Also Try getting on the bus or subway with the other three strollers.

calm down kelly. I got what you meant. Anyone who can't afford to upgrade their stroller when the child grows olders should not be buying the expensive stroller in the first place. It isn't mismanagement of assets.. It's called living beyond your means. Same reason I know a handful of douchebags in dire financial straits who zip around in Mercedes convertibles. Pathetic.

To The Hawk,

Thanks for the feedback :)

Kelly:
You are so right about the SUV strollers. You still need a second stroller for all the times you go places where you are required to fold, such as the library, and many venues for classes and birthday parties. I recently went to a building with a preschool where you had to leave the stroller outside on the street if you couldn't fold and hang it. Then there is the problem of the wider wheel base being difficult to impossible to navigate through narrow doors and store aisles. They may work in the burbs, but not in the city!
I think they are mostly purchased by new parents with no experience with strollers, who assume the most expensive is safer, and of course they want the best for their child.
Last year I advised my new work family (new parents) to get a Maclaren, but no, they got the Bugaboo Cameleon. Two months later, they also got the Maclaren! The bug has been gathering dust ever since.

Sizzle...hot...
The moms at the Pierrpoint PG don't look like this.

:(

speaking of hot,
any mom who is out on a NYC playground today is a top mom in my book! I lasted 15 minutes. Then I had to bribe dd with a cartoon.

the "discount" stroller is actually a very expensive stroller. i just happen to stumble upon it online and it's $800! has SEVERAl different positions though..

I am for that stroller. We travel a lot in the summer, and I hate to bring strollers that require a manual to fold. I like this stroller!

NO they did not move as, they practically ran me over. Thought, wow, that would have made a good photo and then proceeded to run back front ofmthem to snap the shot.
