Park in Tarzana, CA

Received Thursday, September 28, 2006
Your son is Jaden, 3 years old. Your nanny is approx. 40's dark hair, does not speak English, as far as I can tell. Every time I go to the park - on weekdays and weekends, Jaden is there playing by himself and being COMPLETELY ignored by the nanny. It's a fenced neighborhood park next to a softball field and recreation center. She puts on huge headphones blaring music and stares into space while Jaden wanders around the park alone. He's really hungry for attention and is a sweet, articulate little boy. I wouldn't trust this woman with my dog.

What is wrong with all these parents? Attention parents: watch you own snotty brats.

How could a parent watch his own child if both parents work? What kind of idiots are posting on this site. If you don't have a nanny and you aren't a nanny, go away. Parents have to works. Some parents use daycare, some parents have family members watch their children and other parents have nannies. It's not rocket science, just life

I work and I have a nanny and there are ways you can make sure that you set your expectations and be sure that your child is not being ignored. It is wrong for the nanny to put her headphones and ignore the child. AS it is her job to be sure that he is with company.

Taking care of children is mentally taxing even for parents. I have never had a nanny, much less a babysitter, and do you think I don't zone out? I can't imagine someone NOT related to the child meeting all these alleged ideals. So she puts on headphones while he plays.I'm sure she must be keeping an eye on him. BFD.

ok anonymous hater - I complelty understand that often both parents have "to works" and that having a nanny is necessary. However, if I was paying to make sure my child was safe and happy I would be extremely concerned about this nannys behavior. I'm a mom and of course I zone out occasionally! However, this woman consistantly pays NO ATTENTION at all to the kid. He's often going in and out of the fenced area out of her sight or dangerously teetering on top of equipment. Last week, he was playing with a gross bag of trash and another mom gently took it away from him. I'm around kids and caretakers enough to know neglect (dangerous neglect) when I see it. Several of my friends use this same park and Jaden is there every day, all day, ALWAYS being ignored and left to play by himself. If I ever do see Jaden with his mom or dad I will talk to them directly but even on the weekends he's with the nanny so this is my only option.
