ISYN CL WTF 2
.... WHAT?!

1) Nanny/Teacher/Homeschool Asst. Needed Today!! (Las Vegas)
Hi I am interviewing for this exciting and fun position here at my home. It entails some light duties, childcare of one or more children, my daughter being the primary child, as well as her friends for whom I already give childcare. The hours are flexible, and include some nights, as I currently work a second job away from the home. Please come by for an interview, the pay is excellent, and my home is clean and spacious. Need a person or person(s) to start immediately! Thanks

2) RE: Nanny/Teacher/Homeschool Asst. Needed Today!! (Beware) (Las Vegas)
Just a heads up, the pay is not great. I'm sorry... Last time I checked, 35 isn't great for just one child. It works for a daycare, but not a one child thing you know. Especially for a child who is a straight up brat and has no respect or discipline. And as far as watching other peoples kids on occasion, she will give you NO NOTICE prior to getting there. On top of that, she will expect you to still just get the 35 for her child and her keep the whatever money she gets for watching the child from the childs parents. The title for this job is totally misleading, too. She needs someone to come into her home, take her to work (a stripper, no joke), go back to her house and stay up with the child because who knows when she actually goes to sleep and sometimes she won't, and then when mom is done on the pole, go and pick her up. With NO contribution for gas. And if you're real lucky during the "interview", you will be asked to drive everywhere for her and get nothing for gas. Great pay my a**. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the strippers out there, but please.. Be open and honest about yourself. And her house is nowhere near clean. Its actually a huge mess. And because of her philosophy on life, she doesn't even make her daughter help clean up. The daughter will expect to walk all over you and if you try to put her in line, she will lie to her mother about it and make it seem like you did something wrong. Any more questions about this woman, email me. I have PLENTY more to say about this woman. PS... The woman is ABSOLUTELY crazy!
URL: http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/kid/1726974698.html

3) Regarding Job Offer (Las Vegas)
My response to the attack made by this woman is that for one, she never showed up for the job, and she told a child's mother that she was on her way and never showed. The money was to be split with her, in response to the defamation concerning her pay for watching another child at my home with my daughter. It is unimportant the nature of my part time job as long as the sitter gets paid properly. She passed very little of any successful interviewing requirements, and was not the person for the job. She could have been honest with us rather than slander us on line. And to insult a child in this manner shows her lack of patience and understanding for anyone, most of all, a child's wellbeing. The woman did not show up for her shift on time as promised and decided to attack us. Most people have privacy with respect to their homes; there were things shared in confidence, and she shared with me personal info as well. I chose to email her and ask her if she was unhappy with the job, she chose to slander us publicly. I will not comment further, as I am aware that she is regetting her actions already.

4) RE: Regarding Job Offer (Las Vegas)
Haha. Sorry guys for posting again... But yes, there are two sides of the story. I did show up on time for my job. Actually, fifteen minutes early. And that says a lot because I was working another job that day, too. When I got there, she sprung another child on me (like I said, with no warning) which is very rude. Plain and simple. Especially after her and I had discussed my schedule for the evening the night before. And as far as splitting the money... Well, wow... That would have barely barely covered gas for the night. I hate how people always are wanting something for free. Like I have said before, 35 a day is great for daycares... But when you have bills to pay, and are only getting 35 dollars for hours of your time at a time, it sucks. And all the things she's wanting for 35 dollars is just ridiculous. As far as not being qualified... That I have to laugh at even more. I have over 5 paid years experience (and many many more unpaid years caring for family members. I have been babysitting since I was 8 and I'm 20 now, so do the math) with children of all ages, but particularly infants and toddlers and children up to 8 years old. Not only do I have GREAT references to prove all that, but I have also volunteered in class rooms actually teaching children. And coincidentally, have great references for that. So, failing to meet any qualifications is a total line of bs. And now on to the whole me not having patience with the kid or not being caring enough. In my opinion, the best thing for that child is someone who will discipline her and show her how to respect someone and their things. Instead of kicking the back of someones car seat because they are talking and she decided that she wanted quiet. Not once, but actually twice. Not only is respect for others something she needs to learn, but respect for herself is important, too. On that note, I feel it is VERY important to tell someone up front and honest about what you're wanting and what your "part time" (even though that's the one paying your bills) job is because hello... You expect someone to drop you off and pick you up from your club. I'm sorry, but that just screams danger just because people are crazy out there and I'm sure whoever reads these posts don't want to be seen with the woman jumping in and out of their car. What would happen if all of the sudden this woman got a stalker or something and she's seen in your car? Then, you all of a sudden have some crazy "fan" following you and your car. Such a risk, right? Now remember... This is for 35 a day. Last time I checked, everyone needs to know what their employer does. Child care plus taxi for 35 dollars? Give me a break. And I definitely am not regretting any decision. I am actually patting myself on my back for getting out of that situation.
PS... I've gotten a lot of emails from others totally agreeing with me... So apparently, I am not the only one who sees this woman as crazy.

9) Looking for care... (Norfolk)
My daughter is 20 months and fulfills every aspect of the age. She is very friendly and good with other children. She's not potty trained but is trying just hasn't committed to it entirely yet. She listens amazingly well for a child of her age but needs help with her speech development. Which she has a therapist who has provided some materials that help. We are open to many different options of care to include a live-in nanny. We don't have much money but are willing to discuss different options. Our hours are very crazy. We are both active duty and I am back in school to try and finish my degree before I get out. My husband will be leaving the area for training in June in which I will need someone to watch her in the evenings while I'm in class as well as in the mornings while I am at work with a significant break in between the two (specific schedules will be discussed further during an interview). We are looking for someone drama free! We have moved at home daycare's several times because of drama and are looking to try and keep it at bay for a while. Preferably a non-smoker but can be more understanding with the right person. Social drinking is not a significant issue until it becomes one, which will be determined on a case by case basis. We will perform a very thorough background check to include credit history for theft reasons but will not be a basis for hiring (we realize people have a history and we weren't all perfect when we got our first credit card or whatever the case may be). We will also be conducting a drug test and will reserve the right to randomly drug test whenever we feel is appropriate while you are caring for our daughter. Drugs are absolutely not tolerated! I hope that someone out there will find us a good fit and we are looking forward to meeting all reasonable and responsible candidates. Thank you for your time!

10) Nanny for girl (24mo) and boy (7mo) (Wisconsin)
Nanny Requirements: The family seeks a nanny with previous experience caring for infants and toddlers who is extremely comfortable with all tasks related to quality childcare (i.e. feeding, diaper changing, dressing, napping, calming and soothing an infant or toddler, good hand washing, etc.). The family understands the benefits of a qualified nanny and looks forward to working with one who shares their Christian values and beliefs. The nanny is expected to demonstrate the personal characteristics of patience, caring, respect, honesty, flexibility and creativity, and to meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism. Music and foreign language education also would be welcomed. If not already certified, the nanny will be required to get First Aid and Infant/Toddler CPR certified within 30 days of her first day of hire.

Nanny Responsibilities: The nanny will be responsible for the children’s physical, intellectual, spiritual and emotional needs when the parents are not present. This includes being a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others, and teaching the importance of these values to the children. The nanny will be expected to participate in age- and development-appropriate play and plan both fun and educationally stimulating games and activities at home (i.e. free and structured, individual and both children together). After the infant reaches 12 months of age, the family and the nanny will review opportunities to take the children to activities outside of the home (play groups, library, zoo, etc.). The nanny will provide a safe, consistent, and clean environment at all times. The nanny will be responsible for teaching pre-school basics, basic hygiene (including potty training), and good manners in partnership with the family. The nanny also is encouraged to take the children outside (weather-permitting) and to read books together. The nanny will be expected to work with the mother and older child on age-appropriate milestones. The nanny will record daily activities.

Additional Information: The family believes the Bible is God's Word and standard for faith and daily living. They recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible for their children’s development and value the role of a quality nanny in assisting them with that task. They work together to accomplish common goals, spend time together whenever possible, and desire to raise children who others enjoy being around. They are flexible but set high expectations for themselves and their family. They believe children benefit from a strong marriage as children learn best in a loving and nurturing environment. Both parents have seasonal and animal allergies. The children do not have any known food allergies at this time. The family requests a nanny that does not own any pets to avoid allergens in the home. The nanny must be comfortable with one or both parents telecommuting as the parents may work from home. The family home needs additional child-proofing as a result of unforeseen events since the birth of the oldest child (i.e. death of a parent, bed rest with the second child since 24 weeks). Verbal correction and redirection are used for bad behavior. If the behavior persists, a time out is given. Loss of a toy or privilege is the last option. Praise is encouraged to reinforce good behavior. All correction is followed by an explanation and positive interaction (i.e. a hug). Yelling or physical intervention is least effective except in case of safety.

14) As yet little experienced babysitter (Pittsburgh)
Hi, I graduated from Pitt a year ago and would like to become an elementary school teacher. Because of the way deadlines work, it would be a while until I apply, which is okay because it gives me a chance to get some experience, which I’m almost entirely lacking when it comes to working with kids in any verifiable way. I was a counselor one time at Language Camp in Zelionople, did some babysitting for neighbors (mostly people who I’d never be able to get references from); in my teens I babysat for my mom’s friend, whose reference I can obtain. I have work references and personal ones, but none point to experience with children. Without experience, I can not get a job working with kids or make my application for graduate school look right - babysitting is the only entry to work experience with kids. I am working on getting a driver’s license, but don’t have one and am therefore not very mobile. I’d also like to know better how well I work with children in a more structure, regular manner. I love kids and pets are fine, I don't smoke and I'm very reliable and responsible. When working at camp I realized that children are extremely smart, interesting and creative and deserve to be treated with respect and not patronized, to the greatest extent possible. Any steady jobs would be much appreciated and help me get more official jobs and experience to help me with my goal of becoming a school teacher in the future.
-available PT or FT
-prefer days to weekends and evenings, but am flexible to a certain extent
-salary up to parents/guardians, experience and regularity are more important
-live in Bloomfield, can get anywhere accessible by bus; within the city preferred
-can start immediately

15) Looking for childcare for the summer (Pittsburgh)
I am looking for childcare for my mature 5 year old daughter for the summer. I have recently left the "stay at home mom" life. I took a job as a Family Advocate for the Allegheny County Head Start program. I have to work during the summer when Head Start classrooms are closed. I will need someone who is available 8am to 5pm. My schedule is flexible, could start later or earlier and finish later or earlier if necessary.
Transportation is a must. Non-smoking not necessary.
My daughter is rarely sick, and can pretty much take care of herself. Just need a responsible teen or adult to stay with her, to feed her and to make sure that she is safe.
We have a nice sized yard to play in and a playground just steps from our home. I will provide your favorite breakfast, lunch and snack foods.
If you stay in our home to babysit, there is no major cooking or any cleaning required, maybe making some mac and cheese or whatever. Not a nanny position.
Position is open for Mondays immediately. And Monday thru Friday starts at the beginning of June when school lets out for the summer. Last day of school is still pending decision due to the snow days we had several months ago. I only make 10 dollars an hour so anyone asking more than that need not contact me.
I will be doing interviews before deciding who to go with, but preference will be given to anyone who is able to begin immediately. Thank you and talk to you soon! Melissa - 412-853-****

29) Nanny Needed! (Phoenix)
We are seeking a loving, experienced, English speaking and trustworthy nanny for our son, Mason.

About us: My husband (30) and I(26) have a wonderful 8-month-old son. He is our only child besides our overweight puggle (pug beagle mix) who is very well-behaved and lovable as well. We currently live near 32nd St. and Osborn in a house, but will be moving up north, towards Cave Creek, at the end of June to another house (renting for two years).

Our current nanny who we adore is moving to Colorado very soon. She watches Mason in our home on a set schedule so we can go to work. I need to find the perfect nanny who would be interested in replacing her to work the following days, in our home. I want him to have the best and safe care possible, of course! And you can make yourself at home in our home!

Tuesdays: 10am - 5pm
Thursdays: 10am - 5pm
Fridays: 10am - 5pm

Looking to pay $6 hourly to start and then discuss a raise after time passes. This is a long-term part-time position. Might need to change days after we move, but we will see... If interested, please email me with questions and your qualifications asap. Looking to interview asap! Need references and pic of yourself working with kids please.

Thank you,
Becca B**** :)

31) PT babysitter needed - Transportation required (Houston)
I'm seeking a babysitter that can either come in my home or I can drop off in your home at 6am my 2 yr old & you provide transportation to take him 3 days per week to preschool. This is a very small time frame, so someone who works early hours in child care or someone who can provide transportation, may be able to help. I need someone who is reliable & dependable, as the tuition for preschool is high so he can't miss. I would need you to drop him off at 7am to early hours care or by 8:45 for the preschool. I can pay you up to $50.00 month since it's such a short time period, 3 days per week needed. Must live in the area of Friendswood or Pearland, so you are not driving too far.
Sitter/Driver must provide me:
A clean drivers record ( 1-2 tickets may be okay )
A background check or some good identification
References & work references
Safe reliable transportation
A signed contract

32) Babysitter wanted near CSUN (Los Angeles)
My wife and I are looking for a part-time babysitter Tuesdays thru Fridays. We would need you to start at 1:30 p.m. and stay until between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. We would prefer a full or part-time student due to the fact that we can't do much in the way of monetary compensation, maybe $100 to $125 per week, but we do have various amenities available for use in our home. We will provide food and the use of our washer and dryer, as well as WiFi access. We also have a swimming pool. The kids are 3 and 4 years old, and they both take a nap for about 2 hours every day, so you would be free to study during this time. The kids' grandmother will also be here most of the time and can provide limited help. This would be great experience for students majoring in Developmental Psychology or interested in becoming Teachers. We would be willing to be cited as references on resumes or job applications. We are also open to bilingual sitters. We appreciate any help, thank you for your interest.

34) RE: Nanny/Babysitter needed ASAP - 610 @ Scott (Houston)
You are asking a childcare provider to work 13.5 hours a day, 4 days a week, to watch 2 children for a hundred dollars a week.
This all figures out to $1.85/hour.
Not to mention, the hours require somebody to get up at 3am to make it to your house by 4am.
Good luck finding somebody at that rate, for those number of hours.
I understand times are tough and not everybody can afford to pay a lot for childcare, but if you want somebody reliable, responsible, and experienced to care for your children, and not some bum off the street, you need to at least make your prices fair.
I have been watching children for more than three years, both professionally at a daycare and as a nanny, and I laughed when I read this ad. Good luck.

35) RE: Nanny/Babysitter needed ASAP - 610 @ Scott (Houston)
So, let me make sure I understand this.
You're willing to pay HALF of what a day care center would charge, for someone to go to your house. They must have a car, so presumably you'll want them driving your kids to places, for no extra money.
They must also take care of your dog(s).
You aren't willing to pay them until after they've worked two full weeks.
Even though YOU have paid time off, your person providing care for your children, for which you are paying LESS THAN $1 per hour per child, including car expenses, will NOT have any time off.
Although you still have YOUR bills to pay, obviously, you don't expect them to have THEIR bills to pay.
I'm sure you'll have people crawling out of the woodwork for THIS gig.
Maybe you should quit your job at the dialysis center, so you can provide this kind of service to others - going to their houses, for under $2 an hour for 2 kids, on a work schedule that would prohibit any other kind of income generation.

36) RE: Nanny/Babysitter needed ASAP - 610 @ Scott (Houston)
To whomever else commented to this ad on CL: THANK YOU. Finally somebody who understands.
Listen, a good amount of people who provide childcare, at least to be found on CL, are college students. Maybe they live at home. Maybe they don't have too many bills to pay. That still gives you NO RIGHT to pay them an unreasonable wage to watch (what should be) the MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU HAVE! If you don't mind a college kid watching your children, GREAT! Most college kids offering childcare on here are perfectly capable of watching your children, most with experience, and will provide great care for your kids. I've noticed, however, that most people on here offering these low wages want somebody older, with 5+ years of experience in a liscensed facility, 10 references, great with kids, great with pets, great at cooking, great at washing your car, taking out your trash, doing your grocery shopping, you get my point.
I am absolutely OUTRAGED when I see people offering to pay 100/week for FULL TIME (36+ hours) CHILDCARE....
Say that I'm assuming, go ahead...but I would venture to say that you are paying almost that much a week for your cell phone, (with unlimited internet, text messaging, ringtones etc) cable (with pay per view, on demand, dvr) and internet (only the fastest speed will do for you.)
Your children are not objects.
Pay more money to guaruntee that they will be in good hands. CHECK REFERENCES. ASK FOR BACKGROUND CHECK/DRUG TEST.
Do not ask outrageous things from the people watching your children.
They are not your slaves.
Be home when you say you will be home, unless something LEGIT comes up. (Work late, car trouble, etc etc)
Pay them OVERTIME. (Time and a half for working over.)
Do not force them to do things you are too lazy to do, unless you pay them more.
Value the person looking after your children.
You (should) love your children and want nothing but the best for them, even if it means paying a bit more money.
I'm getting off my soap box now.
If anybody has any issue, concern, complaint with anything I just said, feel free to email me.
