2) Part time Nanny wanted!! (Las Vegas)
I am seeking a part time nanny for my four year old son.
About Him: He is energetic, smart, lovable, outspoken, willful, demanding, very attached to me, slightly anxious about me not being with me, funny, and last but not least a boy!! (Ask him about Cornholio) (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=cornholio)
About Me: I am energetic, smart, lovable, willful, demanding, very attached to him, slightly anxious about not being with him, funny, and last but not least, a little stressed!! :)
I love my son with everything I have. He is an awesome kid. He is in the "gifted" spectrum, and can be quite a handful. I practiced attachment parenting with both of my children and feel it is a healthy way to bring secure children up. However, my son seems overly attached to me. I have been slowly trying to get him to be a little more independent to no avail. He will not go to school, I tried. He will not even go in the car with Dad if I am not right there. My oldest is 14, and she gets tired of me asking her to watch him while I work out, or even take a shower.
My goal here is to simply provide another way for him to see that Mom is not going anywhere and it is ok to play with someone else for a little while. I would love to find a woman who is energetic like him that can play with him and teach him new things for a few hours a day. He is super smart and will learn very quick! He learned the entire United States Map in about 2 weeks and can point to each state and say what they are!! He is that quick. I do not plan to leave the house while "you" are here. That would be just too hard on him at first. I am currently trying to get myself back in shape and take online classes and its so hard to do that with him especially now that nap time does not occur much.
Initially what I would like is to have "you" in my home say early afternoon, for just two hours at first. Your time here would be with him in his playroom, playing games with him, teaching him new skills, and devoting your attention to him soley. (Trust me, he gets mad if I return a text while we are playing!!) I would be in the other room or cleaning, or catching up on my stuff.
If this sounds like something of interest then let me point out what I do not want. I do not want men. Sorry, I know its the new thing to have a manny, but my son is just not that type. If he was, I would have no problem with it. I do not want someone who does drugs or smokes. I need you level headed in my home. I do not want anyone that is over 35. He is young and energetic, and he loves energetic people. He is a child and is most attracted to people like his sister because they are fun. I do not want someone who does not have their own transportation. I cannot come and pick you up and take you home. I do not want someone who has been arrested in the past, or has a crazy boyfriend. (Just making sure I cover all my basics!) They type of job you have outside of this is fine, I am fairly open minded. Just please do not bring the drama around my home. I do not want my son sitting in front of the TV while you sit there too. TV is not a babysitter!!
Upon contacting me, please include a resume, if you have one, training specific to what I am requesting, referrences, contact information and a happy disposition. Not only will I be interviewing you, but he will as well. I am open to rate information as I have never done this before. You can let me know your experience on that. I joke around a bit when it comes to him, he is an awesome kid, so do not let anything I have said make him sound like a terrible child. He is not. He just needs more stimulation than most kids and I have a hard time keeping up with all that I have going on. Email me and lets see how it goes!

3) BARTER: Room and Board for Part-Time Mary Poppins (D.C.)
We are a nuclear family in a large single family home in DC.
We are seeking a live-in part time babysitter (before and after school, effectively), for our two children.
In exchange, we are offering free room and board in a large and private room of your own.
The ideal candidate is female, age is unimportant. French-speaking is a plus.
You MUST drive. Ideally, you'll have your own car.
Our expectations are that you will get the children up, dressed, fed, and out the door in the morning to take them to school.
In the afternoons, the children need to be picked up, helped with homework, fed, and gotten ready for bed.
Dinner needs to be prepared for the family (you included, of course), but breakfast is just the kids.
There is no heavy housekeeping, but the kitchen, family room, and the kid's room would be largely your responsibility.
There may also be some errands, play dates, rehearsals and the like in the evenings.
We need someone who is responsible, organized, takes direction well, pleasant, and reliable, and fun.
If this sounds like you, please contact me.
We would like to find someone with whom we can have a long term arrangement.
This may be an ideal situation for a mature and responsible individual who is taking classes part time.

4) Weekend nanny ok to travel to Hamptons (New York)
We need a weekend nanny to start ASAP.
*must have at least 10 years nanny experience (NOT BABYSITTING)

This is a long term job - NOT just the summer!
DAYS/HOURS:
Summers as "live in" thurs night to mon night
Fall/Winter/Spring: Friday, Saturday & Sunday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with occasional "sleep overs" or "travel weekends".

*you must be OK to travel with us by car or meeting us in hamptons by bus or train - so motion sickness would be a problem.

You must be MATURE yet FUN and PLAYFUL and MUST BE Physically Fit and AGILE to keep up and after a very active toddler!

This is very important as this is why we let go our last nanny... she keep up after our son all day.... SO Are you fit and agile to keep up with an active toddler who is non stop gogogogo at only 1 year old?
He is more active then all the kids we play with. When they get to sit, my son is bouncing off everything getting into trouble (already)...
My weekday nanny even says for sure... Our weekend nanny has to be fit and very active and very quick to keep up with our son and keep him out of trouble! When we go away we are always near a pool..i need to be sure our nanny can be quick enough to keep him from falling in and keep him SAFE!

You MUST BE physically FIT. our son is NON STOP GO GO GO!!!! And if you cant get down on the floor and run after a little guy ALL DAY LONG.. then this job just isnt for you.

This job will consist of helping us with childcare and light housekeeping and family cooking.
You have to be comfortable that you will hardly ever be alone with our son, you will be playing along side us where we may be reading, working, cooking or swimming.
There will be many times WE will be playing with him which will give you time to tidy up and do other things...
There will be many times, where we leave you at home without our son while we visit with family, friends or simply go for a walk.

You have to be ok with being a FAMILY HELPER like an the extra set of hands, to help in every capacity from taking the dog for a walk to waking up in the morning and making/feeding the baby breakfast to playing on floor to giving baby a bath to ing dog for a walk to washing pool towels and putting them away and helping cook lunch or dinner, make coffee, chop a salad or set up food to BBQ....
Yes - We have a DOG so you must LOVE dogs as we consider him our 1st born ! ;)
We are around pools and beaches - so you MUST know how to swim - not to swim with him BUT if the baby falls/jumps in - you need to go after him and get him out...!

If this sounds good to you lets interview ASAP.
Please send Resume and Photo. we are looking to start interviews ASAP.
Thank you.

If we don't go to Hamptons or away we stay in city and I'd need you Friday, Saturday Sunday 8am to 8pm and occasionally a sleep over or late night. Late nights we'd send you home in taxi.

LIVE IN DAYS:
Summers you would wake up with our 1 year old around
Wake up 730am and give a bottle.
Play till 830 breakfast
Then play till 930 nap till 11am.
Then play till 1pm lunch
Then 2-330 nap
330 bottle/snack
Then play till 6pm dinner
7pm bath (nanny)
715 bottle + book (mom or dad)
730 bedtime (mom or dad)

- that's the basic schedule...but we aren't very strict about it except for meal time. We always expect lunch and dinner to be ready at 1pm/6pm (or earlier if he is cranky and wants to eat)....

During the day my husband and I will jump in and take over to play, maybe take him out to lunch or dinner. Go for a walk and visit with friends and so on.

When we take over we would expect you to fill in elsewhere like tidy up toys, kitchen, wash/dry/fold dirty pool towels, wash baby clothes, help put away groceries, fill dog bowl with food/water, or even to help or just prepare a meal (chop salad, rice, chicken, steak, fish, steam or grill veggies - all very simple).... And so on...

Nap times you can eat, rest or do any of the above.

We expect you to be professional and always on your game.
When we have guests over ask if they like a beverage and excuse yourself and let us know where you will be if we need you.

Other things - need to be sure you don't get motion sickness - in car, bus or train... As we travel.

If this is OK for you, then we can interview... Thru an agency they had me put together a "nanny manual" that would go over most of what we expect in detail and we can discuss it as well.

7) We need a Germaphobe babysitter (Seattle)
Hi. Funny listing to some.
With all due seriousness my son has a chronic condition. --I do not wish to share his medical history, so please do not ask. Maybe if I hire you and time goes by and we all click then I would be more opt to open up about his past hardships that will continue thru his life..
He gets sick very easily. He is not contagious with anything. Hand washing, and clean people that have not been sick or around others that are sick are needed to take care of him.
Otherwise he goes to the hospital. I have taken care of him on my own since bringing him home for the first time at 8 months of age...
He also has a feeding aversion and problems getting around-he does not walk and barely talks. So, someone with experience with a cerebral palsy background would be appropriate.
All babysitting and care would take place in my bonney lake home.
I'm needing someone to take care of him (3yr old) and my 10 month old-
And it will not be but every great once in a while.
Pay is negotiable--I dont have a lot of money, in fact I dont have a job, and Im pregnant on bed rest going thru a divorce-have no family here - and my past life with my son-well, I've isolated myself focusing on his care-while I was married.. it's been exhausting and I never got out or did anything or met anyone, no friends to care for my kids.--
There are times when I NEED to get out to a OB appt or other obligations that I have that I cannot take my kids to :( Let alone I not suppose to be lifting them during my pregnancy.-but I've had no choice.
Must be responsible, and reliable. Must be caring and loving to children. Must have patience and good communication.
Must have a vehicle to get to and from my home--or at least your own ride--you will not have to drive my kids anywhere.. strickly in home care for 2-6 hours at a time.
Email your resume, ref's, experience, education, -and picture if you have one-if you are interested. Thank you

8) Free Childcare offered (California)
Hello,
I am preparing to join a family with a 3 year-old daughter as a roomer/ part-time nanny.
I have had much experience with girls, but none this young, and not recently.
So, I'd like to get some practice at babysitting between now and July 1st. With a girl age 3-5. ( The one I will be living with is precocious.)
My account has been phone verified, and I can show evidence that I have had background checks done on me for various jobs and for foreign work visa.
I am a male, age 55. I am very youthful, and I cook but only vegetarian food. I don't mind doing some chores as well, but want to spend most of the time entertaining your child.

10) Need care for 1 week for a 16 yo at my home (California)
My 16-year-old daughter is a good kid but is acting out when we are at work. I want someone to be there with her for a week to possibly curve her behavior. She is a great kid and very sweet but when we are gone she is breaking dishes and such thinking we don't know. She is mean to my little dog when I am away as well.

11) Something Different: Occasional traveling dog nanny (Seattle)
Here's what I need: Periodically over the summer, beginning this weekend, I'll be going on assorted day-long or several-day adventures. I like to take my dogs, but then I have the occasional problem of what to do if I can't always keep an eye on them. Solution? A traveling dog nanny! :) Pay will be a paltry $50/day, plus your food will be paid for and you'll stay with us so you'll have no lodging cost. Most adventures will center around outdoor activities, so you'd better enjoy being outside; occasional hikes or climbing require that you be very fit; and most of all, you'd better be an animal lover. My dogs will know an impostor a mile away! If you are interested, get in touch, and please explain why you are the ideal candidate. One-liners and illiterate responses will be ignored because we'd never get along.

12) Need childcare for my severely disbaled son (Missouri)
Hello, I am looking for daycare for my son, who is serevely disbaled. He is 7yrs old, and has an extremely rare condition called, 3p Deletion Syndrome, which causes several different problems. He has a cognitive level of about a 5 month old, he is still in diapers, and neegs to be feed, does not know how to feed himself, he is wheelchair bound, but likes to be on the floor to role and play with his spinny toy rather than in the wheelchair. I start work on Monday, hours will change on a week by week basis, but generally would be 1-6pm. He may sound ALOT more complex than what he really is.. its really just as simple as watching him.. and letting him play with his toy... I will pay, but must be a reasonable amount, I know what goes into watching him, and its really not that different from watching toddlers, (other than the fact that he doesnt run around or talk), so no need to charge an crazy amount, just because he is disabled.. There will be a backround check conducted, and I would also like references. If you feel that you are the right match for him, please let me know ASAP.. as I would like to meet you first.. Please contact me via email.. and we can discuss him further.. Thank you!!

16) I am your nanny - w/ 13 yrs expierence - available to start now (Minneapolis)
Hello My name is Sarah-Jean I am 25years old..

I have been a live in nanny a couple times and more then a couple times as a live out nanny. iv worked with ages 1-13yrs even 8 children at once for one of the live in jobs. I have also worked with a 2 year old who was mentally handicap. I love to be with children.

I am very much for learning then t.v and video games or anything like that. I do a lot of scrap booking, and crafts and out door things, or zoo's educational ideas. I also like a schedule for the children because it helps then through out the day an so it does for myself. I like the child/s to read for some time, crafts at a time during the day, play out doors, maybe a tv show/movie another time, lunch, and dinner etc..

I also feel that being a nanny is not as hard on me when I go back to college as if I were behind a desk. I come from a family with alot of laughter and games.. I also am that way but do like to teach others and to be taught things. I have been a editor for a mpls paper before now. I have been a secretary for other years and live in nanny for others. I am great with computers and so with that I also help families out with their companies or things around the house.

the story with my working with 8 children is, I had a family that i worked for only for about a week. married parents had one of their own child and adopted 7 more and they all were siblings. Their mother did meth and they took them in as their own.. I was there for them all. but some of the children had dreams and it was of their mother and to find out, it was because i looked too much like her and they had to let me go. I worked there mostly through out the day as a live in.. but i did not have the time to move in. I got paid way over the normal because i had 8 children. ( i did work with other nannies)

p.s a note: if you are very religious or want your nanny to be, this will not work.I don't mind religous families. i am very open minded an want the family to be as well.

20) NEEDED: DAYTIME BABYSITTER! (Pittsburgh)
Hi, my husband and I are looking for a well trained, reliable babysitter. We would like to have references and would prefer someone off of school for the summer or someone with a child. My daughter just turned two and is a really good child. I have never heard anything bad about her...usually hear "does this girl ever cry?". We are negotiable on what we will pay, but would like to start somewhere around $25/ day. We need you anywhere from 3-5 days a week from approx. 9am-4pm...give or take a few minutes before and after work! If you are interested, please send me some info about you and some references if you have any...and a good contact number so we can meet you! We are currently staying in a hotel because we work in the area during the week, so really it is up to you whether you want to come here or we can bring her to your home. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you!

* Response from CL readers:

21) RE: DAYTIME BABYSITTER WANTED (Pittsburgh)
25 A DAY IS A JOKE TRY 9 TO 10 AN HR. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR ......GET A DAY CARE
URL: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/kid/1789006733.html

22) RE: RE: DAYTIME BABYSITTER NEEDED! (Pittsburgh) - OP
Your a joke...$9 - $10 / hr? Are you kidding? Anyone who pays that much for childcare is f'ing stupid. FYI, Daycare around her averages around $35/ day...the whole reason to find someone else is to pay less and to find someone who doesn't keep as many children so mine can be taken care of better! duhhh? Do you have any children? Get a fucking life rather than sit on the computer talking shit about peoples ads. I am going to continue my quest to find a babysitter. Thank you and have a WONDERFUL day!
URL: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/kid/1792140628.html

23) RE: DAYTIME BABYSITTER - REPOST (Pittsburgh) - OP
For your info, during the week we stay in a hotel suite because we work here during the week making better money than any of you...Then on the weekends...guess what?...we go home to our beautiful county home and our hundred acre farm... that we earned ourselves...so Id say compared to us, YOU ARE LOW LIFES.. Go babysit making your $10/hr. By the way, the only reason daycare is $35/day is because they care for a bunch of kids at once...that IS a job. I don't see why watching ONE child is worth more than that??!! Really? If you hate it that bad, then why do you do it?? Back home, I paid $17.50/day for a three star daycare...compatible to the one I take my daughter to. I liked it MUUUCH better than the one here. Unless you are a nanny and do all the hous cleanning, I really don't believe you make that much babysitting a day...atleast full time. But what ever you say...continue looking for someone to pay you that much to watch ONE child...oh, and if anyone does, its because they feel bad for you..
URL: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/kid/1792862626.html

24) RE: Get a grip people... (Pittsburgh)
This is absolutely rediculus. We are suppose to be parents and leaders...We don't want babysitters who are rude enough to talk s**t on everyones ads. We are parents and babysitters. The only reason you should be on here is to post an ad for babysitter needed, or childcare provided...AND..to look for someone you feel would be a good fit for you...if you come across someone who 'ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU", then move on to the next ad. You don't need to take the time to post an ad saying how terrible they are.
Also, parents who don't pay $10+/hr, AREN'T terrible. They are down to earth poeple looking for something a liltte less expensive than daycare. We don't want sitters who are greedy and expect more than what they are worth...no babysitter, unless a full time nanny, is worth $10+/hr...especially for ONE chlid. Get a grip people.
URL: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/kid/1792899075.html

25) RE: DAYTIME CHILDCARE!!!! (WHATEVER HOLE YOU CLIMBED OUT OF!) (Pittsburgh)
I am a professional, licensed Nanny! Nannies do not clean houses, or the laundry, or walk the dog!!!! My only function in any families life is to take care of the children. I am employed by a wonderful family that consist of Dad (a surgeon), Mom ( an attorney) and 2 wonderful children. And I am compensated very well, which I work hard for every penny that I make. After reading the ad that you placed and all of your comments, I realize that you do not have a clue. Shame on you bragging about how much money that you make. Money does not give you class. If you are so wealthy then why are you advertising on Craigslist? I feel only pity for your children that you are raising !!!
URL: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/kid/1792930195.html

26) RE: repost (Pittsburgh)
The reason why daycare is $35 a day is not because it is a "job" and baby sitting one child is not. It is because all the children are lumped together and so is that money they bring in from each child. Having private childcare is looked at as a luxury and a convenience which is why it is far more expensive. I am paid $11 for one child and it goes up from there. I don't clean, run errands etc. I heat up meals and play with and love the children I watch.
You may happen to stumble across someone willing to work for your rates. BUT, I would be wary due to the fact that $10+ is the going rate and they WILL find a position like that. You may end up with a high turn over rate. Good luck with your search!

27) RE: Childcare (Pittsburgh)
I am so MAD. I need to place an ad for my childcare and I used to advertise on the"craigslist", but now, because of the ridicule I might get, I think twice, three, four........times on doing so because of the treatment my ad might get. Because of this, I only get replies AGAINST what is in my ad and no REPLIES from prospective childcare parents! At first I was personally insulted, but now, knowing that other ads are included in this harassment I am VERY, VERY MAD! I intend to get to the bottom of this and try to STOP these hurtful accusations.

28) RE: daytime babysitter (LaLaLand!!!!) (Pittsburgh)
$17.50 a day???? And WE are supposed to be the low lifers????? Having a 2-year old living in a hotel room 5 days a week does NOT make you a high class parent, I would say!!!!! You obviously know nothing about child care nor parenting...paying $35 a pay in Day-care because they have a bunch of kids???? Never crossed your mind that if your child gets the one on one attention, you should pay MORE??????? Time to sell your castle and give a real place for your child to grow up and being able to give her the care she deserves, Moron!!!!!! If you have some money left, get a few classes on Child psychology!!!

29) Nanny in exchange for sharing my home (Minneapolis)
Hi. I am a single mother of two boys ages 5 and 9 looking for a live in nanny for the summer months. I was hoping for a college student currently in the dorms who would need a place to stay during summer break. Must have childcare experience and references. Prefer CPR certified. I have a downstairs basement room with a bathroom across the hall for your personal use. The rest of my home would be shared. I prefer someone who is not big on partying as you would be caring for my children the following day. Must be outgoing and very personable! My normal work hours are M-F 8am-4pm. Some days I may need to do 7-3pm or an occasional 3pm-11pm. My children are gone every other weekend. I am also willing to pay $200 per month for small living expenses such as food and gas. This would be perfect for someone looking to have a job evenings and weekends. Move in could be any day now and move out in September. If you are interested or have any questions, please email me. Thank you. :) If this posting is still up, then I am still looking. :)

31) Christian Nanny needed, great for stay at home mom (Minneapolis)
Hello there, Christian family looking for a wonderful, loving, and caring nanny to come into our home and care for our 15 month old son. Ideally I would love to have a mom of a small child work for us so that my son can have a playmate. He is a very well behaved little boy with lots of love to share! We have an outdoor play area at our apt home and room to run. We also have a great park within walking distance. We do have a kitty, whom is awesome with small kids and loves to be the center of attention. Currently we are seeking someone to watch our son from around 9am to 5pm, Mon-Fri. We are on a very tight budget due to college expenses and can only afford $185 per week. This would work great for a stay at home mom because they could make some extra money while spending time with their own child. =) I am allergic to smoke, so non smokers only please. If you are a responsible and mature person that may be the right fit for us, please contact me by e-mail. I'd love to set up a time to meet you and your child! =)
Hope to hear from you soon. ~Jen~

32) Childcare needed Tues, Wed, Thurs Evenings ASAP (Norfolk)
CHILDCARE NEEDED IMMEDIATELY--BE ABLE TO START NEXT WEEK!
I have two children, aged 3 1/2 years and 6 months, that I need to find care for on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons/evenings (approximately 1-7 pm). I would prefer childcare in my home, where my children will be most comfortable.
Requirements:
-Prior experience caring for more than one child at a time
-Reliable, timely transportation
-Energy to not only watch two kids, but actively engage with them. This includes at least some outdoor play daily.
-I would prefer someone who is at least 16, but would be willing to hire someone a year or two younger if all requirements are fulfilled
-MUST be able to sit Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 1-7. Some Mondays are a possibilty.
-Be willing to do some light cooking and picking up after the kids
-Provide at least 3 references, at least two from prior experience and one personal. The more, the better!
I am currently on my own with my two children, and I need to be sure they are in the best hands. I have had negative experiences with prior sitters. PLEASE ONLY REPLY IF YOU ACTUALLY ENJOY BEING WITH CHILDREN AND WILL CARE FOR THEM AS YOUR OWN!
Because I am on my own, I am offering $75 for the three days each week. If I need you to work a Monday and you are able to do so, I will add $25. This is a flat rate for the three days, unless I am gone fewer than 4 hours. Please be aware there may also be weeks I would only need a sitter two days instead of three. If you are in it only for money, please do not respond, as my kids deserve someone better than that to care for them.
Please reply to this post, or call or text 540-222-**** between 8am-10 pm. I am looking for someone to start next week, Wednesday and Thursday, and would like to interview potentional candidates this weekend. Thank you in advance for considering caring for my children!

34) RE: Childcare needed in Beaver Falls (not on this planet) (Pittsburgh)
To the person that posted the ad needing childcare in Beaver falls for her 4 children ages 7,3,2 and newborn.......ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?????? You want someone to come to your home, take care of FOUR children for at least 40 hours a week (most likely over 40 hours as you state that your employer mandates overtime) and you are wanting to pay a measly $200 a week??? Do you realize that works out to be $1.25 per hour per child? You are only paying $40 per day or TEN DOLLARS A DAY PER CHILD????????? No one in their right mind would watch that many children - especially three of them being three and under - for that little. And just because "everything the sitter would need is at your house" does not mean you can pay so little. I also have 4 children and if I needed to hire someone to provide care for them, I know I would have to pay a hell of a lot more than that. Parents need to understand that they cannot expect childcare providers to work for peanuts.
