4) Looking for a live-in Nanny to work only Part Time (Pittsburgh)
I am looking for a kind, patient, and experienced nanny for my four-year old son. I am also looking for someone who would be willing to perform some LIGHT chores around the house. We would prefer to find a "live-in" nanny, as we would be able to provide room and board for NO CHARGE. We have a third bedroom that is on it's own floor, and secluded from the rest of the residence. The childcare worker that we choose would be able to stay and utilize all utilities, cable and internet. There is also an option of a third car becoming available within the next few months, and we prefer someone with a driver's license and a clean driving record. We would provide money for gas and meals only. My son is extremely easy to care for and an absolute sweet heart. We would need someone to be dedicated solely to his care on the following days:
Tuesdays: 1:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.
Saturdays 1:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.
Sundays 1:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.
Please feel free to seek supplementary employment during any other of the days that we do not require a sitter. In addition, please realize that we are a very laid back and fun family. However, both parents are in the law enforcement field, and we plan to run thorough background checks on all candidates. The ideal candidate will have up to date CPR training and their clearances.
In summary, free room and board in an EXCELLENT neighborhood and clean home, money for meals and gas, in exchange for 30 hrs per week of sitting services. This is an excellent opportunity for a student who takes morning classes, or someone looking for a way to save their income. 14) Looking for a Nanny ASAP (Seattle)
Hi! I'm looking for a new nanny to become a part of our family. My daughter is a very happy 15-month-old. She loves silliness, songs, dancing, being outside, reading, and lots and lots of playing! I need someone with a great imagination who isn't afraid to make a fool of themself. I prefer little to no television, so you need to be able to keep her busy with your own creativity. She also has some health issues that need monitoring, so I'll require you to be First Aid and CPR certified, and I'll need to make copies of your cards. Additional duties in addition to child care: making meals for my daughter, bathing her, doing her laundry, cleaning and mopping the kitchen, and vacuuming the living room. I'm also in the beginning stages of starting my own business, so the more personal assistant type help you can offer, the better! You will provide your own food. The hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Friday through Tuesday. *I am NOT looking for someone who is only home from school for the summer. I would like to find someone who my daughter can become attached to that can stay with us indefinitely. This job is in MY home with NO other children.*
The issues I've faced with previous caregivers are:
- Unreliability - This is something I can't tolerate. I have my own business, and I cannot have someone calling in all the time - that costs me money and I have to support my family.
- The Honeymoon Phase - I hate having someone who is amazing when they first start and a couple weeks or months later they start to slack off. I don't want to sound harsh, but you will not have this job locked down - I will find someone else. So I need you to have the same enthusiasm, work ethic, and proactivity that you start with.
- Laziness - There is down time in this job, but that doesn't mean that it's ok to be on the phone, watch tv for hours, have guests, or take a nap. I'd like someone who takes initiative and maybe cleans the bathroom or washes the windows.
I promise I'm not mean, I'm just really frustrated with the caregivers I've had so far, and I'm hoping to find someone very different ASAP.
Please include information about yourself, your experience/qualifications, when you could start, and your rates.
* Response from CL reader:
15) Looking for a Nanny ASAP (Seattle)
I don't mean to sound harsh either but if you are expecting a nanny to clean your bathrooms and wash your windows you are expecting too much!! Not to mention you are expecting your nanny to bring her own food! That's odd.
A nanny is NOT a housekeeper! Those are 2 different jobs!
A nanny takes care of children and child related tasks. Would you ask a housekeeper to change your child's diapers, watch your child,. teach your child their ABC's? No, that's the nanny's job. You wouldn't ask your auto mechanic towatch your child would you? No, because those are two different jobs.
Typically a nanny's job while child is napping is: child's laundry, disinfecting/organizing toys, sweeping kitchen or eating area, dishes from previous meal, preparing snack or getting meal ready, preparing for planned learning activity, picking up play area, vacuuming play area, documenting in nanny journal. If there is free time after that yes, a nanny has the right to put up her feet for 10-15 min! In the typical work place an employee gets 2 15 minute work breaks and one 1/2 lunch break. A nanny does not! So, I don't see why it's not OK for the nanny to take a break!
If you pay well, honestly you will attract better clientele! If you offer benefits you will attract ever a larger number of people who are willing to work hard and continue to strive to work hard. I'm sorry but that's the way it goes. My employer pays me well and I work my butt off because I know she can get someone else that will do it for cheaper but she has colleagues that pay nannies less but have had nothing but issues with them. With me, I am always on work on time, never miss a day, and always go out of my way so that the house is cleaner than when she left for the day. I also consider myself a professional so I wouldn't ever think of not showing up for work or showing up late. I also wouldn't consider being paid under the table or washing someone's windows or bathrooms!
If you can't pay a nanny's wage then you might look into a nanny share or a SAHM or a small in home day care. A nanny is a privileged that many cannot afford. You have to pay taxes and at least minimum wage. Good luck on finding someone!
.... HOW MUCH?!
16) Childcare Needed (Fresno)
I am looking for childcare for my 4 children - 8 mo., 1 1/2 yrs, 3yrs, and 4 yrs. I will need someone from 6:30am - 6pm, M-F. Duties will be feeding, entertaining, educating, and lots of cleaning. I will also need some housework done - ironing, laundry, cooking, dishes, vaccuming, picking up and some light dusting will be appreciated. I am on a budget so I can only afford 25 cents an hour. I will also provide lunch. I am looking for someone that is CPR/first-aid certified, experienced (must have at least 5 references), and college units in Child Development is a plus. Will need to be fingerprinted also. I will be doing interviews starting tomorrow! Please email with interest.

17) RE: Childcare Needed - Low pay is NOT ok Be FAIR (Fresno)
If someone is coming into your home to work they are considered an employee. Therefore, you must pay at least 8.00/hour. However, if you can't afford that look into using someone that would do the care in their home, that can be a in home day care or a stay at home mother. That can range from $10-45/day PER CHILD depending on hours and a few things. .25 an hour is not okay. I normally do not respond to these! However, child care professionals need more respect than that. MANY of us take pride in what we do, we go to school and have families of our own. We know the money isn't the reason to do it, however, we still need to provide for our own families. I understand that parents have it rough (I'm a parent also) However, be respectful. If you can't afford to pay anything then say so. Maybe someone might step up for free. .25/hour is just an insult.
18) RE: Child Care Needed (Fresno)
Really ? 25 cents an hour , but you have 4 kid's . You want laundry , ironing and some more shit done . Your tripping girl ! What is that going to buy someone , a burger ? Ahaha . this girl is crazy . No one is going to watch your kids for that price . What you need to do is stay home in that case.

30) Daycare needed for 2 little boys (Tulsa)
Hi! I am a single mom in need of daycare for my two little boys. My oldest is 7 and my youngest is 4. They will both be in school this year. I need to drop my kids off either at your house, which is in our school district, or you are more than welcomed to come to our house. My oldest will be able to ride the bus, but my youngest will have to be taken to the school, which isnt far. I should be able to make it home by the time they get out of school. There may be occasions where I need you to pick them up. Your hours would be somewhere between 6:00 am and 3:45 pm. My oldest will go to school from 8:55 am to 3:40 pm. My youngest goes from 1:00 pm to 3:35 pm. I have 3 dogs. Your duties for the boys would be this:
At Hour House:
Gets up, dressed, teeth brushed, has breakfast (which usually includes something in the toaster) & gets on the bus with his school stuff.
At Your House:
All you need to do is make sure he gets on the bus with his school stuff.
At Our House:
Gets dressed, has breakfast & lunch, brushes his teeth & you get him to school on time. There will be time to fit in playtime or whatever you need/want to do.
At Your House:
You have time to do whatever you need/want to do, you just need to get him to school on time with his school stuff.
I will send a drink over with him so you don't have to supply the beverages.
Since my oldest will only be around for 3 hrs in the morning, and then you will have my youngest only until 1:00, I am looking to pay $20/day which would be $100/wk. I don't pay for the days you don't have my children, which is usually only at Christmas Break, Spring Break, when my family comes to town (which is usually very rarely) and vacation days. I don't take a lot of vacation days, just because I don't get much vacation time.
We live at 101st and Elm. Children will be attending Arrow Springs Elementary. All beverages and food will be supplied here if it's at my house, otherwise lunch will have to be provided by you in your home, I will send the drink. If this is something you would be interested in doing, please email me and let me know. Otherwise you are free to text me, this is the easiest way to get a hold of me. Would like to meet and get to know you first. My number is 918-640-**** Thanks!
