1) Night time babysitter needed - (Milwaukee) I work at a new bar and I'm having a hard time finding a new babysitter for my kids. I would prefer someone watch them in my home. I have an 8 year old boy and a 2 year old girl. As I'm not making much I can only pay $15 a night. (if this becomes steady and work picks up, I'll pay you more) I have cable, movies, and lots of food! I usually start around 7 PM and work until bar close, you would be welcome to spend the night if you don't want to leave that late at night. If you would be able to do this then please send me an email with some info about yourself, and a phone number. Could use someone as early as tomorrow. _______________________________________________________________

5) Looking for a Nanny - (Minneapolis) OK first things first....I want an in-home nanny in my home! I'm willing to pay $100-$130 a week. You will only be working Monday-Friday. You will be needed from 7am to 6pm. Most days you can leave by 5pm. At least 2 of the days a week you will be able to leave around 3pm maybe more than 2 days a week. But you will still get paid the full amount. My daughter is 17months old. And she is working on being potty trained. So yes you will be working on that with her as well. My daughter is very easy to take care of! She sleeps till 9/10am and takes a nap for normally 2/2.5hours. Being a nanny I would expect you to *TAKE CARE OF MY DAUGHTER!!!* (don't just leave her in her highchair all day) *Take to her and play with her, READ her BOOKS! *Clean up after her. (No you will not being cleaning my house!) *Make my daughter food (Goldfish crackers are not a meal) *Not sit on your phone or have the T.V. on all day. And that sums up the job. You will never have to work weekends ever. Nor overnight! You will be paid every Friday when me or my boyfriend gets home. Please be OUT of high school and graduated! As we'd like you long term. Up until my daughter goes to school. And even after then.

6) Nanny Needed - (Madison) Hi I am looking for a sitter for my 6 1/2 month old son. I will need care regularly Monday-Friday 7am to 9am starting the first week of August (around the 6th). I want to use those two hours a day for "mommy time" so I can get things done and go places I need to go before it gets too hot. You may also pick up additional hours if my husband and I want to have a date night or we have other errands we need to do together and we want him to stay home (say if it's too warm outside). Here are my requirements: *Must have experience with children, especially babies *Must be a non-smoker *Must be flexible and have own transportation *Must be dependable and won't flake at the last minute *Must be a one-on-one caregiver willing to sit on the floor and have fun with my child *Resume with past work references needed at interview *Must be someone who is sweet, funny, and nice as I feel my husband and I are the same personality wise.  I am offering 2.00/hr and if you think that is too little please email me and we can negotiate on the rate. Please understand that only my husband works at this time so I can't afford alot, but I will do what I can to work with you :). You will be paid every Monday for the week prior. Care is to be given at my apartment so you can have access to all his toys, etc. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions! Feel free to leave a brief summary about you and a phone number to contact you at to set up an interview. Thanks! :)

Hahaha, number 7 was hilarious.

$2.00 an hour? I made $4.25 in 1993. That was minimum wage eighteen years ago. I wonder what year minimum wage $2.00 an hour?? Does anyone know? Its illegal to pay below minimum wage. This mother is insane. Even a crackhead wouldn't work for $2.00 an hour. Gas costs more than that per day. This mother is insane. For $2.00 an hour, she will be fortunate they don't strap the child in something & sleep the whole time. I'm tempted to find the ad & send my resume & express interest in the position. Then eventually withdraw bc I thought the ad said $22.00 an hour.LOL!!!

These are particularly bad.

Number 7 is too much!

Part of me wants to believe that these were p ut up by someone with too much time oh their hands.

I certainly hope no parent would think to intrust the well being of their child to someone for $2.00 an hour.

I just love how after certain parents post a crazy low rate, they then try to justify it by claiming how easy the job is, how you can watch all the T.V. you want and raid the fridge even!!

How dare these families put their children in such danger? By accepting a 12 yr old babysitter? By offering $2.00/Hr?? Wtf??????????

Would any of you let a 12 year old babysit your children?

MissMannah said...

I was babysitting quite frequently when I was 12 years old but now, after some hindsight, I would NEVER hire a 12 year old to watch my children. Nor do I think I would hire anyone under the age of 18. Of course when I was babysitting at that young age, it was only for the kids on my street and my mom was always home. I remember having to call her a couple of times for help.

Wow $2 for looking after a six and a half month old baby . Sound like her precious baby is worth less than a chocolate bar. Love to know where this add is so i can reply.

I might would let a 12 year old help or maybe a very short times like an hour or so and I would be near by.

Probably more like a mother's helper. So much would depend on the 12 year old. a responsible 12 year old like my friend's daughter absolutely and little kids and young teens seem to match up well.

Long term and overnight and completely far away Not a chance.

On the other side of the coin I would let my 12 year old sit, if I felt they were mature enough. Never for more than 1 child and always only for people I knew extremely well and close to home. Again never long stretches or overnights.

An older and responsible teen I would consider for longer periods. I think teens can make great babysitters.
I wouldn't let an older teen of mine do overnights. Nor would ask anther person's teen to stay overnight.

Lyn, when I was 12 I babysat regularly for a family with an infant and a 4 year old and they would be out until 2 sometimes 3 in the morning! I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY WERE THINKING! They were family friends so I always slept over on the nights I sat for them, but I was just a baby myself! Thankfully nothing bad ever happened. I know I was great at entertaining the girls but even having that experience, I would never allow a 12 year old to babysit my children. Too much risk..they can't drive and may not know how to act in emergency situations..just scary!

When I was an aupair in new york, the 13 year old girl in the family I worked for, used to babysit a 6 year old in "our house". But since the 13 year old was not allowed to be home alone I was asked to stay home to watch the 13 year old while she was babysitting. I thought it was very absurd. I wonder who made most money of the two of us. I got $3 an hour as a live in.

I no longer go on CL to find jobs.

Instead I go on to read all the ads and laugh.
