nanny sighting Your nanny was a tall, Slightly heavy African-American (Jamaican accent) with an adorable blonde toddler in a stroller. She had a complicated corn-row haristyle and was wearing a blue shirt today (7/22). She was in a store on 69th and Broadway, Upper West Side, with the kids and another nanny at about 4pm. While she was shopping and ignoring the child in the stroller, the child started to fuss. Your nanny yelled at the child, "Suck it UP!!! Suck it UP!!!" I called her out on it and she told me to mind my own business. Your nanny SUCKS and doesn't seem to care about your children at all.

Maybe she does SUCK, but I HATE people who feel the need to call someone out on their actions. I would tell you to mind your own too.

and on that note, children learn speech from adults speaking to them, so someday when the nanny is being awful to someone, the child will just tell the nanny to "suck it up"

Personally, I don't think the child really understands what the nanny is saying, although they will understand the anger.

I think we should ALL speak up when we see someone mistreating a child. "Mind your own business"?!?! My GOD no, don't do that where a child is concerned. Speak up, and speak loudly.

oh please........ said...

mistreatment? Please. What she said was inappropriate, but not mistreatment. She didn't beat and was not neglecting child. Sometimes people have bad days and say inappropriate things. It happens, you apologize and move on.

just a thought.. it she has a jamaican or other caribbean accent, she's most likely NOT african-american. just for future references it's offensive. you wouldn't call a french persona a German just b/c they're both white.
