THANK YOU, thank you for the Nanny Compensation Survey 2008. This is a wonderful resource for me, as a nanny. I saved a copy for future reference and will possibly even forward it to my bosses!
This was a good source? These nannies are clearly underpaid and taxes aren't being paid. No mention of health care either.
Those salaries are very low compared to Manhattan.
What really struck me though is that the average length of employment is less than one and a half years. That seems strange.
Really? This article was offensive to me as a nanny. $15.00 an hour? That's CRAP pay! unless you live in a small town where living expenses are low. And are you kidding me with not paying taxes? This is the reason the economy is in ruins! This was a crap article through and through!
I think the survey took into account college kids that nanny for a summer or part time, etc. Those are frequently paid under the table. What college kid wouldn't want more money in their pocket and less to the feds? Since its a temp job they probably aren't too worried about health care and SS. They are probably still on their parents policy. That would skew a survey way more than one just accounting for professional nannies.
This Article just proves why there are so many crappy nannies in Park Slope. Look at what they're being paid! Is it any wonder there are so many bad Park Slope sightings on this blog?!!
To why
Did you also take into account that many of those nannies are also illegal? and that's why the pay is so low? and under the table?
