I overheard and saw with my own eyes and abusive nanny today. The nanny said in no uncertain words, "Shut your mouth, shut up and you're lucky I don't slap the crap right out of you". Was she talking to another nanny? An obnoxious teen charge? Or was she talking to your 4 year old daughter. Little girl was wearing a pink skirt and a white-t-shirt that said cowgirls on it with rhinestones. The girl was white, had curly brown hair and was of average height and weight. The nanny was older, Indian, I think, with one pony tail of dark brown hair with grey around the temples. She was wearing a short sleeved sweater with a matching shirt underneath it. This may have all been one piece because it was floral and of one fabric. With that, she wore skecher white tennis shoes and black knit pants. She spoke with a slight accent. The little girl was running around the playground with another girl and the two of them were singing silly songs. When she would come to the nanny's side for a drink (White thermos with grey cup), she would sing especially loud at the nanny. Here is my problem, maybe the nanny has a headache, maybe the child is being to loud for her; is there not a kinder way to express this? And if this is the way she speaks to your child for simply singing too loud, what happens, praytell when your child has a temper tantrum, whines, cries, gets hurt? Please think about it. I did. The nanny sat at a picnic table looking sideways and away from your child the whole time. I saw no affection at all, which is a shame because the little girl was an absolute doll.

What a horrible thing to say to a child... to anyone, for that matter!
I get migraines and I never talk to the kids that way never!
There has to be a way to get these parents names so they can find out about this kind of thing.
i would be curious to know the circumstances that led the nanny to react to the child in the way she did. of course some people are just horrid no matter what, but more often there are circumstances extending beyond our first glimpse of the situation...
That is disturbing! Regardless of a headache or a bad day, no one should be spoken to like that, especially not an innocent little girl!
