In the News:
Texas Students pack book bags; Teachers pack heat
Several parents said they had no idea that employees of the K-12 school were allowed to carry concealed guns on campus until recent publicity about the school board's policy, approved quietly last fall. They said they were upset that the rural community near the Oklahoma border had not been able to give input.
While some parents said they felt their children were safer, others opposed the plan, which appears to be the first of its kind nationwide.

As long as the teachers are stable, I see no problem with this. (Stable=not going to go on a shooting rampage themselves.)
Maybe just knowing that other people have guns will stop students from doing such a terrible thing =( But then again... Pray that no student gets ahold of those guns.
That's just what I'd be worried about 'gun owner', that a student would get ahold of a teacher's gun. There have been instances where students have overpowered their teacher's, so who's to say they won't grab their gun? What can a teacher do but fend them off physically? .... they can't shoot them!
I dunno, bad idea.
If someone, anyone besides a police officer, tried to overpower me and take my gun, they'd get shot.
No questions, no hesitation. I'd shoot someone to defend myself or a class full of children. Yes, the teacher would be shooting a child. But isn't that worth it to save who knows how many others?
Of course, all this could be avoided if-
1-Parents would do their jobs and parent their children! (As in, don't allow them to make a plan. Step in and get them help! Or don't let them get ahold of a gun. Or don't let them turn into little bullies who drive other students into a hopeless depression where they think this is the answer)
2-If the employees at the school would do their job and put an end to bullying, of all forms.
"Zero tolerance" has flown out the window, and this is the result.
Amen, gun owner!
Forget the guns, give them paddles....and let them use them. Forget about this mamby pamby time out, talk about your feelings crap. OK, give them the guns too, but seriously, thirty years ago when teachers could spank their students, did you ever hear about a school shooting?
Well 30 years ago, you didn't hear much about crack cocaine, but that doesn't mean my Uncle Ernie wasn't cooking, smoking it and serving time for selling it.
