Received Monday, August 11, 2008.
Where: Brooklyn Library, Main Branch, upstairs cafeteria 10:30 a.m., August 7th.
Nanny: black, hair in ponytail, gold hoop earrings, yellow polo shirt and jeans.
Older child: girl with wedge/bob haircut, purple t-shirt and red shorts.
Small brunette: girl with similar haircut in red double stroller. Yellow cold pack bag is also on the stroller.
While nanny is in line getting food, younger girl is left facing the wall, wailing for 5-10 minutes straight. No sign of any response from nanny, who is taking her time. When she gets back to the table w/ food, she gives her a bottle, gives the girl some food, and starts eating herself, hardly talking or attending to either child. Tot continues to try to get attention. Nanny consistently ignoring her.
When nanny finally wheels the stroller out of the cafeteria 20-30 minutes later, she still seems to have said nothing to the little one or attended to her at all. Older girl is getting attention only because she is asking questions and talking. An hour or two later, the group returns for lunch, with a couple of additional people. This time nanny sits with a friend at a separate table from the older girl, who is sitting with a boy older than she is. Small girl is still in stroller. Nanny is still barely acknowledging the kids. She didn't seem connected to the kids in any way--it seemed like she was just going through the motions or sleepwalking through her day/life/job.
I'd definitely keep an eye on her.

Sounds like she is burnt out or having a really bad day...it's good you are going to keep an eye on her.
maybe she's going through something, and I agree with kathleencares as well.
how do we know this isn't the mom though? Why is she automatically a nanny haha.
I'd keep an eye on ANYONE who dresses a kid in a purple shirt and red shorts. (biological mom included)
well...i have to tell you, when I take my lunch, that's MY time.
being a nanny you are always on the job. you spend all day, doing for others. if i don't make it a point to tell the kids "it's my turn to eat lunch now" i would never be able to sit down for 15 minutes. instead i would be getting up five times to get someone something or do something for someone.
we don't know the situation with the younger girl. i personally think that children who cry loudly in public (without being hurt) are rude and obnoxious.
Mary, you need to get a life.
Hey macbitch --I'm assuming you're pissed because you got knocked off? Play by the rules and don't post anonymously then! Ha!
umm, actually, no -- that anonymous wasn't me. The "get a life" thing was my only post on this thread, and was about the original post. I think the main idea for this site is great and important, but I think spending your day looking for the most minor failing in women with long, hard jobs--while trying to make mothers paranoid-- either because you want to pimp your site or because you seriously have nothing better to do with your time is sad. I also think calling people filthy names is pathetic.
I guess I should say that, when I first posted that, I didn't realize that mary was one of the two organizers of the site and so perhaps does consider nanny-watching her job--although that doesn't change my reaction to two of the three things she's posted today. I didn't mean at all to imply that the site itself or her work on it wasn't worthwhile. Otherwise, I stand by what I've said about the individual posts.

Sometimes people that aren't yet familiar with the Blog assume that the name under the post is the person who wrote it.
You are correct in your 5:23 comment that I just put it up, and have nothing to do with the person who did.
I'm not sure which posts you are referring to that you have a problem with, but I would love to hear your input.
I hope you don't mind that I re-posted your last comment at 5:16 because in order for me to answer you, it needed to have a moniker.
Thank you.
