Childcare Ad...Found on Gawker....

"This job is very nontraditional in the sense that my kids are older and still need someone to "parent" them 24/7. My oldest son will be starting his first year at Columbia in the fall and will not be around much, but, will probably still need support. Picking up his dry cleaning, if he needs anything for his apartment, scheduling doctor appointments, anything to help him and his daily life run smoothly"?! (You'll also be "interfacing with" the family's assistants.)
Gawker has the full ad here, because the original ad on Craig's list has apparently been flagged.
Thanks to AL.

That's hysterical! I once saw an ad on Craigslist for a family looking for a NY nanny with experience working for "high profile" families. It went on to say that they were looking for a unique individual who would love and protect their child as if it were her own, up to throwing herself infront of a moving vehicle, if necessary . . .

. . . and then, at the bottom, under compensation, they clearly stated, "We will not provide health insurance for this position".

Perhaps this ad is for a young man with some sort of PDD-NOS or Autism Spectrum disorder?

I work with a 16 year old kid who is a brilliant and smart girl but can't be left alone in her house yet. Why? She is capable of taking care of her herself but lacks focus due to Asperger's Syndrome. She is likely to lock herself out in extreme weather or leave something burning on the stove. Just a thought.

this job would be perfect for a college girl...provided the guy she is babysitting is cute.

This job sounds perfect for a mail order wife. What the hell is she thinking, any woman he chooses to date or marry will be driven absolutely nuts with his inability to take care of himself. If mom had hired better nannies to befin with maybe they may have taught him better.

Maybe the kid is just spoiled? It doesn't really say anything else in the post except to basically "keep up after him".... pick up dry cleaning, grocery shopping (stuff for the apt., scheduling his appts., etc) -- the kid sounds over-indulged to me.

Lol.. I was hired as a nanny for teenagers and worked for the family for 3 years. Some people are willing to pay a lot of money to make sure their teens are safe... It was a great job: there were no dirty diapers, no crying babies. The kids were in school all day, so all I really had to do was come to work at 11 am, lounge around and read and play with the family's puppies until 3 pm, pick the kids up from school, make them dinner, bring them to sport practices, etc. The kids were not brats at all, just had overprotective parents. I also got paid full time wages for a part time job. I loved it!

Didn't it say nanny for 5 children...isn't the college student just one of the children?

Do you think he'll tell his Columbia friends she is his nanny?

Yeah, I bet he has some type of disorder where he is extremely smart but can't necessarily function completely by himself in society.
