Hmm, if you don't bring your child for check-ups won't the state get involved.? I was curious, wouldn't social services come to your house? Especially, if the child has never been seen or isn't get vaccinated.

Answer:
OP, you are obviously more intelligent by your employers who have been fooled by the manipulation of this temptress. If you are looking for someone to appreciate your sense, you have to find people to work for that are smarter than you. But be careful if they are smarter than you because then they are smart enough to know that you are only babysitting in Intelligent Down because the folks over in Averageville didn't want you and then being as they are so smart they are going to think, he do we want someone that wasn't good enough to babysit the kids in Averageville to babysit our kids? Most will say no. The few who will say yes will barter with you by saying, "I'll pay you $5 less than you would have made in Averageville". So for few smart nannies who stay in Intelligent Town to nanny for less, life goes on. For the majority of Smart nannies sent packing from Intelligent Town are now back in Averageville. Now, they knock on the doors of the average townsfolk looking for work. And what do the people in Averageville say? They say, sure we'll hire you and we pay an Average amount. So on one side we have the select few Smart Nannies who stayed in Intelligent Town living out their lives making half of what they should be making and back in Averageville we have the smart Nannies making more than the Smart Nanny in Intelligent Town but less than the Average nannies in Averageville. So, ultimately it is up to you, do I want to nanny for a family of Intelligent people or a family of Average people who couldn't see a 4 ton brisket if you waved in front of their face, people so dumb they have been ensnared in countless inheritance scams, people you have to explain every scene in the movie to, people who can't recognize a con job when it's happening to Gonzo the Pscho Nanny.

I am confused. Why would you hire a nanny like that? I would worry about my kids constantly if she were my nanny. It sounds like she may be mildly retarded as well as having some emotional issues. She obviously needs some support from social service agencies. Could you refer her to them so she can get some help for herself and her child?

2:10 Your post makes no sense. It sounds like you need some help yourself.

Eric's mom,
Actually, no. There is a waiver that you can sign stating you don't want your child immunized, but you have to give a reason .... such as religion.
As for not seeing a Dr., there are plenty of Parents that don't believe in them, and although they occassionally get reported, if they site religious reasons, the state doesn't get involved. This waiver can also be used to enroll your child in school, because we all know they can't register without their shots. It opens them up to all kinds of illnesses ... however, from what I've read, the majority of these kids are home schooled anyway.
I know ... sad for the child.

Thanks Mpp

I had no idea.

Here is an example

I think a lot of it has to do with the vaccines having animal by-products in them and stuff. I'd have to do more research to be sure ... but you get the idea. The belief is they will have nothing to do with an animal being harmed.

what i don't get is if she is this incompetent in her day to day life, how does she manage to care for someone else's kid(s)? was it not totally obvious how discombobulated she was when she interviewed? it sounds like there are definitely some mental issues with her. either that, or she's totally playing everyone.

i just can't see how the employers have no idea she is that unable to deal with life.

The best word in the English Language:

"discombobulated"

.... it just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? LOL

Thank you 3:32, I'd all but forgotten the word existed!

Wow, check out the MMR and
M-R-Vax. Those are shots our kids have to get!
And DPT - formaldehyde???

Anonymous said...

Ugg oh my god! Not to change subjects but, aborted fetal cells? Washed goat red blood cells...chick embryos...that is way BEYOND gross.!
I have no kids yet, but I have done plenty of research on vaccines. My best friend is senior histocompatability tech. She didn't vaccinate her daughter, and so I got interested and read up about it. She's right. The only vaccine kids need today is hepatitus (sp?) because it's still prevalant in society. Yes, we have occasional outbreaks of measles or mumps..and so on...but when you have mom's like holly robinson peete and jenny mccarthy who tell you their kids spoke, sang, indentifed colors...then had shots and stoped speaking or interacting...its not a joke. If you have a measles outbreak and your worried go get the shot...why people but such massive doses of these crazy mixes into their teeny little babies bodies is beyond me.
oh and was anyone aware that the american board of pediatrics does not reccomend circumsion...just another thing parents dont do homework on.

Again, the link between shots and autism has not been establisheD.

Autism typically shows up at the ages when kids are receiving thier vaccinations, so it is easy to blame the vaccination...even thought it MIGHT be an unfortunate coincidence.

I'm not saying that shots are harmless either. I don't know. But until there is an actual cause linked to Autism I hate to see things put out there that might lay unnecessary guilt on parents of affected children. How sad to have them spend a lifetime thinking, "If only I hadn't allowed that shot," when maybe the shot had nothing to do with their child's affliction after all.

Vaccines can also trigger the immune system causing autoimmune diseases that the patient is already genetically prone too.

Anonymous said...

Vaccines can also provide immunity from serious, life threatening, communicable diseases.

Perhaps the woman you write about comes off as warm and loving and shows an interest in children. I know when I interviewed (and all the woman who got through the telephone interview to an in person meeting had strong qualifications), I was turned off by some nannies who were so professional, they seemed cold. I had my infant in my lap for part of the interviews and two of the nannies didn't so much as crack a smile at him. The person that I hired is the woman who got down on the floor to engage and talk to my son the second I stepped in the next room to get her a glass of water. When I came back less then 20 seconds later she said "I hope you don't mind, but I just had to say hello, he's such a smiley baby".

Anonymous said...

Amen, 7:33.
I didn't like it, but I had to do it. You must protect your child!
Back in the day when they didn't have these vaccines, tens of thousands of kids unnecessarily died.

Anonymous said...

I know. When you take your child to the doctor and ask about the dangers of vaccines, the doctor will tell you that your child has a better chance of staying healthy and alive WITH the vaccines than without them...so you get the vaccines. I don't want to see any parents of autistic children out there suffering one moment of guilt over the fact that they got vaccines for their children. (Especially when no cause and effect has actually been established. But even if it were, we all do the best we can and make the best choices we can based on the information we have at the time and the recommendations of our pediatricians.)

And in our world, where people from different countries now interact on a daily basis, the need for vaccines has once again become MORE necessary than it may have been even a decade ago.

Either I'm not reading this post right or it's one of the most confusing posts I've ever seen.

So, there's a nanny who is scattered and has a disorganized personal life, but her charges and employers love her...right?
And the OP is also a nanny (or is she a parent or what?) and is concerned that this scatter-brained nanny is getting lots of work and wondering if she (the OP) should maybe try being scatter-brained too so she can get more work?
Am I even close?
Help!

UmassSlytherin said...

I don't think OP wants to try being scatterbrained herself. I think OP is confused as to why such a wacko is getting so much work.
Just the way I see it.

?
anyone?
Bueller?

I don't think that's what OP meant, but I'm with you - I thought the same thing! LOL

Anonymous said...

"Is that actually working against me in getting work?"
~ OP

Um, it does sound like it doesn't it? Maybe OP wants to figure out how to act like a barn door so she can get more work? Hahaha

Just be yourself, OP. I'm sure that nanny is fighting plenty of demons of her own, don't be jealous of her.

You mention that you didn't understand the depth of Mary's problems until she began calling you regularly. Perhaps many of the parents she sits for are in a similar position. They are only aware of some of her issues, or assume that she's more functional than she actually is.

Perhaps parents see her as they hope she is - hapless, but well meaning, and basically responsible. They feel that since she has her own kid, she can't be too bad, or want to give her work because she has a child to support.

Also, is it possible that Mary works less than she claims she does? Parents may hire her in a pinch, but not regularly. That could be why the kids rarely mention her.

I can't imagine too many parents would want to hire someone who brought a sick child along with them.

erics mom & mmp..after reading both of your responses here I now understand so much more. Your posts blow me away. Both of you..what the hell are you thinking..not all of us need the state to interfere with raising our kids!! It is NOT ilegal to not take your child to well baby checks or doctors appointments on a regular basis. Really..get with it ladies!

Your child CAN register in any public school without shots!!
Private schools are another matter!

you would be amazed at the number of children that your children play with at school who have smart parents . Parents that don't just do what a doctor tells them ..parents who use their brain and investigate what they are shooting into their children!

It is not against the law to NOT vaccinate your child. The only waiver you have to sign is to enroll your child in public school(as MPP stated..) and you DO NOT have to give a reason other than "personal" Religion is often used by those not wanting a confrontation with a school employee who like yourselves does not know the law! Or by those who truly do have a religious reason for not vaccinating.

My children were all born at home.

I am not a hippie. I do not use nor have I ever used drugs. I am not a nut!!

But you women who get on this blog who have an answer for everything and everyone just kill me when it comes to knowing your rights and not knowing your childrens or how to protect them!.You sure know your rights when it comes to butting into other peoples affairs with their kids..

Think for yourselves. My oldest child(16) has been to the doctor 3 times in his life! None of my kids are vaccinated and they are the healthiest kids among their peers!

Stop judging others and spend more time getting to know the laws governing your children!! good greif!!

HELLO!!!
Re-read my post, please. Not ONCE did I ever say it was ILLEGAL, or that the state had a RIGHT to get involved in how you raised YOUR children.
I was just passing on some information to those that weren't aware that you COULD enroll your child into school WITHOUT shots.
I THEN posted what was put INTO those Vaccines ....

Rub your eyes, please. And try again:

"Eric's mom,
Actually, no. There is a waiver that you can sign stating you don't want your child immunized, but you have to give a reason .... such as religion.

7:33, thank you very much! The only reason a select handful of people who fancy themselves above having to give their children immunizations can even HAVE the luxury of such a choice is that ALL THE REST OF US in this country get our children immunized.

You are so horrified by goat blood cells? I assume you have the butcher drain every last drop of blood from your steak before you cook it? Chick embryos are nauseating? Gee, guess you never want to eat an egg, let alone a full grown chicken. You must be a vegan. After all, better to contract smallpox than have to put animal products in your body.

Anonymous said...

op you are a jackass if you didnt want her t find out you shouldnt have posted then

Anonymous said...

Cali mom is right. The only reason 2:01 can feel somewhat safer from most of these diseases is because most of us have been vaccinated against them...which means those who choose to skip the immunizations are protected by the fact that MOST OF US will not be carrying a contagious, life threatening disease into your midst. You're welcome.

But just wait, the way people travel from one country to another these days with more ease than we used to be able to travel between towns, there is going to be more spreading of disease than we have been used to seeing in recent years. (Those of you who so vigorously defend illegal immigration can rest assured that those sneaking into our country are NOT getting the required immunizations before hand.) Maybe you will be taking your unvaccinated child on an airplane to visit Grandma one day and a person just about to break out with the measles, or polio, or whatever will be right next to her. Good luck with that.

And remember it next time you are enjoying a sanctimonious self love fest about how you are such a better mom that the rest of us who have vaccinated our kids.

Anonymous said...

Um-hmmm, you got that right, Ma!

Anonymous said...

YES Mom! What you said bears repeating about 1000 times.

And branching off here, I am always just floored by the stupidity of the "we shouldn't put animal products into our bodies because it's impure" notion. Think about this for a second and tell me what percentage of humankind that has ever lived on our planet has ever had this outlandish luxury of choice as to what sorts of nourishment are "pure" enough for their bodies. Maybe 5% of the population of 5% of the countries currently defined on our world map for maybe .05% of the time that Homo Sapiens has been in existence????? Last time I looked it up, humans were omnivores and mammals. Many animals eat other animals, so unless the popular scientific notion is that we were all magically engineered out of a grape seed or something, there is no reason on God's green earth to imagine to ourselves that there is anything "impure" about eating eggs or milk or cheese, let alone flesh of other animals. Our body utilizes it all for fuel, and it all ends up brown and stinky anyway, unless you're prepared to argue that you really DO shit roses because all you eat is plant matter.

I was reading in the May Parents magazine about vaccines. They said to ask your doctor about single doses of a vaccine. If a child needs all three to get one at a time instead of the three vaccines in one shot. So I want to do that. Space out each shot.

Anonymous said...

Hmm, is that to minimize the risk of bad side effects, or to enable them to more closely pinpoint exactly which vaccine caused a bad reaction?

Anonymous said...

I think the OP was trying out the scatterbrain thing right here. Post did a pretty good job of it too.

Anonymous said...

It could be both, Cali mom. With spacing the vaccines apart. Maybe, its true to see if one may cause a reaction. Also, I think its easier on the system one vaccine at a time. They also mentioned to get the lot number of the vaccine, in case there is a reaction to it.
Did anyone read the article in the May parent magazine?

I really believe some kids do have severe reactions to these vaccines.

Anonymous said...

BUSTED! Post and run and hide baby!

Anonymous said...

Its sad when people dont research vaccines and just blindly follow their doctors advice.

Ive seen parents spend hours picking out a certian kind of stroller or jumper thing, yet they dont even know what shots there child is getting when they go to a check up, let alone the contents of the vaccinations, their actual risks ect. And what about researching the diseases themselves? Many things people vaccinate for are compleatly silly.

My son is not vaccinated and has never seen a doctor. He has never been sick either.
