Carl Shurz Park in NYC

Received Thursday, June 7, 2007
Completely crazy nanny sighting today. (6/7) If your nanny pushes your darling twins in a stroller that resembles this orange urban buggy, I witnessed her at Carl Shurz park acting out of her mind. There was an altercation between one of her charges and another baby. The baby pulled her charge's hair while they were at the top of the slide. As the mom of the child was en route to discipline her own child, your nanny seized that woman's child and started to pull his pants down. As if to spank him. She didn't get very far because the other child's mother was right there. The child was going nuts. The mother of the child went nuts. The mother and the nanny were fighting. The mother was of that child was not very assertive. She spent more time apologizing for her own child than she did reaming the nanny for touching her child. I would have really lost it. Why would anyone think it is okay to touch another person's child in that fashion? Your nanny needs to be disciplined!
It was momentary mayhem. And on such a beautiful day. I wonder how that nanny responds when one of her own charges has a behavior problem. Many witnesses to this event, so please just ask around.

are you saying that someone's nanny retaliated for her charge's hair being pulled by yanking down another baby's pants?

I think that is like assault.

swear these stories out of new york, get crazier by the day.

not trying to stir things up, but the pulling down the pants thing may be cultural. growing up, my neighbor's nanny often pulled down his pants as a punishment/shame kind of thing. i assume that was the purpose (it was always after some kind of misbehavior) but don't know for sure.

Some nannies need to go to ASSIMILATION SCHOOL! What is acceptable in one culture is not necessarily acceptable in another.

If ever any stranger had tried something like this on one of my children, I'd have punched her out. And I am a very peace loving person.

This is a very bizarre, yet interesting sighting. The NERVE of that nanny!

so what are you saying it is ok for a child to disrespect his nanny.

what does this have to with with disrepecting? are you coming at me from the 'hood?

This is about an adult female yanking down the pants of a child she has no connection with.
I think this is damn near ASSAULT.

I find this post crazy! True, I live in RI and am sort of naive to the nutty goings-on of the big city, but did she really pull his pants down? Are you sure she wasn't trying to pull him away and his pants came down by accident? I can't imagine any parent who actually saw someone pull their child's pants down not calling the police! Why in hell was the mom apologizing? She should have been horrified by the nanny! If she did in fact pull his pants down (and the cultural reasoning just doesn't fly, sorry) that mom should have gotten a cop there fast. I would have called 911.

If I was the mother of the child I would have called the cops and have had the nanny taken away. That is horrible. I don't care if it is cultural, doing this is against the law.

If that were me and my hypothetical child in that situation, said child would have gotten a vocabulary lesson that day, and crazy nanny would have been sent on an involuntary trip to the hospital
