Great Nanny Sighting at 78th and York in NYCReceived Wednesday, April 4, 2007
A great nanny sighting! This morning (Wed) in NYC - waiting on 78th and York for the 78th street crosstown bus - Your nanny was with your little boy (Braden? Grayden? maybe) who is adorable - wearing an orange and blue winter coat and a blue fleece hat with brown shoes. She was wearing green pants, brown shoes and a black? coat - holding a small Nike backpack. She was so engaging with your son - talking and laughing and just keeping him totally occupied and entertained. He was clearly happy to be with her and she with him. What struck me most was that she spoke to him with respect - she asked him questions - if he would rather take the bus or walk, and called it a 'silly bus' cause it was late - he kept laughing and saying "silly bus" - just a lovely site to start the morning. I know some people will say that is 'normal' and doesn't need to be pointed out - but I was really struck by how lovely the two were together

Awesome post! It's always nice to hear about good sightings. Especially when it's not the norm on this site

Your post is wonderful... and NORMAL does need to be pointed out (or we wouldn't have a site like this)

I think it would be great for an employer to find one's nanny written about in one of these positive sightings.

JD,
maybe you are in a position to collect the names of these better sitters. Some of these ace nannies who post on here and keep a register or sorts. I know on the UES and Greenwich, CT my friends and I would be willing to pay generously for a babysitter in a pinch. Something to consider.

I came across this site a few times before but left it because it seemed to be about bad nannies. I thought it might give the good nannies a bad name and make parents who shouldn't be worried about their nannies overly worried in case some description of what someone was wearing, etc., happened to sound like someone it wasn't at all. But I just came across the link again so I thought I'd check it out.

It would be nice to read more posts like this one on the site; it was a pleassant surprise!
