Thursday

Mason & Lewis Streets in Greenwich, CT

Received Thursday, March 8, 2007
On Mason Street in Greenwich, Connecticut making a left hand turn on to Lewis Street.
New York white/blue licence plate, two small children both tow headed and in car seats in the backseat of the car. Temperature outside- 12 degrees or so and mom/nanny/au pair or sitter was smoking in the Silver Toyota, Landcruiser. Driver had blonde/brown hair, worn short and large, dark sunglasses. This was at 3:20 PM on Wednesday.

We need to follow in the steps of Bangor, Maine city councilor Patricia Blanchette (a smoker) who said "People who smoke with children present in the confined space of a car or truck might as well be deliberately trying to kill those children"

The windows were all up. It was like a gas chamber!

you should have called CPS or the Police. Not come on here to blog about it.

What would the police do? It isn't against the law, although it should be.

you should have used your cell phone to snap a picture of puff the bitch dragon.

That would be a great website!

what does tow headed mean? is anyone else clueless about this term? i am a nanny who smokes and would never dream of even letting my charges find out i smoke, let alone do it with them in the car!

tow headed = blond, or hay-colored hair.

Some of the worst memories I have of being a kid were driving with my parents in the rain or freezing temps, and not being able to open the windows when they smoked. Disgusting and clautrophobia-inducing. At night, they would smoke in bed and the smoke would waft slowly down the hall into my room and make a hazy layer I couldn't escape. Ditto on sick days from school, when my mother and/or grandmother would watch their stories in the living room where I was lying ill, and smoke until a blue haze layer would form just above my head. It was pretty when the sun shone through it, but otherwise SUCKED.
Do I have to say that I wish smoking in a car with a child on board should be illegal?

Wow. Must be a bad addiction to rish a child's future over. I guess if I hired a nanny, I'd request a non-smoker after thinking about this post.
