ASAP to watch an amazing monologue by Craig Ferguson about how he can no longer in good conscience do comedy about truly vulnerable people who are in need like Britney. He relays his own story of alcoholism and how he now understands how personally hurtful it is to the people he jokes about. Watch it soon before CBS rotates their clips and takes it down. I emailed JD about getting a more permanent link for this item. He's an amazing man. And brave. This is refreshing to see compassion and resposibility in the media rather than another tabloid link just tearing someone down.

JMT, you sound quite insightful however I don't feel for Britney Spears. I do feel for her kids. And I do feel for any child that has less than great parents but the parents are so messed up in the head that they have to hire nannies that are even a step down from them (fearing competition). She has all the money in the world, she can hire a monkey to come in and watch her try on clothing. Someone's priority needs to be those children and this article points out that she has only her own interests involved even when nanny shopping.

I think there is a book out called "The Narcissitic Parents" and how to save the children from them. To thwart narcissim and it's depletive effects, you don't surround a raging narcissist with a bunch of YES men (like Howard K Stern and Britney's paid possee of friends). If these people had one good friend around them that told them the truth straight out, maybe they wouldn't be in these states!

If you watch the clip, you might see that Craig Ferguson is trying to be that friend to everyone with substance and mental problems. He's humble about it.

I am disgusted by the stars like Britney and Anna Nicole because of their recent motherhoods and continued drug use, but even more by the gaggle of greedy people around them trying to golddig the golddiggers. Look at all the men crawling out of the woodwork to claim Smith's baby (even Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband!!!) in case of a big payday. No one in their life was telling them to "straighten out already, you're a mom!" And who suffers? The kids. As always. I'm not happy that Anna Nicole died, I feel for her baby girl and the future they lost together. Britney still has a chance at life. Hope someone strongarms her to a Psychiatrist or a real rehab, whichever is appropriate.
Good luck out there.

These people who seem to have everything are always so unhappy, why? You're right- they do have everything except one person to look them in the eye and tell them the truth. If I didn't have the people in my life who remind me of where I came from or what could happen, I wouldn't have reached this happiness that after 7 years I finally found. I credit that to a man who came in to my life and turned my entire world upside down just by having the strength to be honest with me. He saved me.

I used to love Craig Ferguson. Now when his show comes on, the start of it where it goes "hey ho, ho hey" or whatever he is singing like a leprechaun or whatever, it just drives me mad. Excepting that, he does seem pretty insightful & might delish.
