That is trully a terrible situation, and I'm glad that for this family it is over. I hope the baby makes a full recovery.
I must add, however, that I absolutely hate these kinds of stories. I think that parents have an important duty to trust their instincts. If they suspected the nanny of mistreating their child they should have fired her immediately. Trust is so important when it comes to the person who cares for your loved ones.
If you suspect your nanny is abusing your baby and you chose to plant a camera instead of dismissing her right away YOU bear the responsibility if the nanny kills your child while you're trying to gather evidence against her. I beg parents to think of their child and trust their instincts.
If you were the parent in this situation, would you feel it was worth letting your child be BEATEN and STOMPED on, just so you could have the proof? Please don't risk your children's lives! Follow your instincts!
I very much agree with the person above. I saw that nanny's face and cannot imagine hiring that person to care for my child. Nothing about her screamed kind or loving. I bet her main duties were to clean the house and I bet anything she was paid a very low wage. Shame shame on the parents. These parents will bring in anyone off the street and strap a nanny label on them. For what, to save a buck? YOU WILL ALL answer to your children in the end. When you are crapping your depends and need help to be fed, I hope you get what you gave!
The woman had only been in the country at most three months when they hired her. What kind of references could she have had? I think the above poster is right. The parents were going for someone cheap who would do a lot of cleaning. This horrible woman was not a real nanny. That poor baby!
First of all, what parent in their right mind will hire someone without putting a background check on them? The family is at fault seriously...if you feel the need to record your nanny, you didn't do your homework as a parent!! Hope the baby is ok & the "nanny" gets deported quicker than she arrived!! Learn from this mistake and use an agency next time...let them do all the dirty work & get a qualified nanny...might cost more, but in the end child's safety is more important than saving a buck!!!
Well shame on em all. The baby had bruises all over her body and the parents still left her????? Tune in Mom and Dad. You don't need a video camera and another day with Nanny to figure that out, do you?!
Do you realize how many parents knowingly leave their children-their babies, their special needs children with sub standard help just to save a buck or spare themselves the hassle of going through another hiring process? It is the parent's responsibility to look out for his or her children. This will change when the DA starts charging parents who willingly hire unskilled childcareproviders. Parents who do not check references or take appropriate cautionary measures, parents who fail to act immediately when the child has suspicious bruises- it is time for the DA to file charges against these parents. When your nanny tells your child to go hide in the dryer during hide and seek and fails to appreciate the danger when you attempt to explain it to her, you drop everything and get a new nanny. THE CHILDREN. Act on behalf of the children and err on the side of caution.
I was beaten by a babysitter when I was young, when confronted, the babysitter was beleived rather than my sister and I. It wasn't until there were bruises from the 2x4 that they fired her.
When I read about events like this, I know exactly what I would do, but that's not the point.
What I am appalled by is when the talking heads on my tv scream at the sight of a little nudity, and claim it in the name of "Who, pray who, will protect the children?" If those groups would just spend 1% of their time actually focusing on what kids in our society really need, The laws would be cahnged almost overnight.
Yes -- why was it good enough for the parents to hire a foreign babysitter from an ad? Are they Indian, too?
I'm sorry that this child was horribly abused but isn't it strange that the parents could afford to set up a video camera to tape the nanny but not afford to go to an accredited company to find a nanny/babysitter?
I am a childcare provider and this is my advice - if you hire a nanny and you feel as if you need to get a nannycamera "just to be sure"; I would say that you hired the wrong nanny - go with that gut instinct and err on the side of caution. noboohoobaby

That's the part that confuses me.
