Nanny of fraternal twin African-American or mixed-race boys, about 4
years old, let one of the boys urinate on the sidewalk right in front of
a local business. Not in the street--right on the sidewalk, right in
front of the store's door. Little boy was completely exposed for
several minutes. I happened to see it but didn't feel comfortable
saying anything to the nanny. Group of babysitters witnessed it and
were disgusted.

HUH? Is it Washington Heights or is it Brooklyn? it can't be both.
Is this one nanny who patrols the board and asks on EVERY post "how do you know this is a nanny". Because I am certain the finer details of how the submitter recognizes a nanny to be a nanny would only enrage those who already cry classism.
In this situation, though, it is interesting...if you have kids identified as AA or mixed race, unless the nanny was Asian (and even then), how would you know it's not a case of i saw yo' momma?

Yes, can we please stop with the "How do you know this was a nanny?" If it's not, who cares? This site is to help parents watch out for their children who are in the care of nannies. If it was not the nanny, then the parents wouldn't be worrying about looking on here anyway. Yes there are cases where mothers (or aunts, etc) are mistaken for nannies and vice versa... but it's not that big of a deal. Let it go. (And I'm a nanny also, before you attack me about that.)
Poster #3, let's be clear: Complaints about rude comments *demeaning* people are DIFFERENT from and NOT directed toward comments simply attempting to describe nannies or kids for identification purposes. There should be no issue when posters attempt to describe a person by guessing at race or accent or by listing their clothing. The unnecessary "classist" comments are those that *demean* others. So for instance, it is not classist, but merely descriptive (even if a poor description), to say, "The nanny I saw was overweight, had some type of European accent, and was wearing a worn pink sweatsuit with white stripes down the side." On the other hand, it's demeaning and immature, among other things, to say, "The big fat nanny I saw who could use a workout, had some ratty ass clothes on that looked like they could stand up by themselves and were probably bought at Daffy's where only hoes shop."

The point made about unnecessary "classist" comments was a good one but the poster should have used a store that was obvioulsy for poor people, like "shoes bought at the dollar store" or "shoes bought from goodwill" . Saying Daffy's, which has prices alot like JCPennys or Mandee's not for poor people at all, just made the entire comment classist and -- well unneccessary. Ha ha what a waste of thought, to only contridict yourself at the end!
I only used the Daffy's example because of all the nasty comments about Daffy's on several other threads on this site. Having never been to a Daffy's because there are none in my area, I have no idea what kind of store it is. Comments on this board are completely derogatory to Daffy's, so that's what I went with.
Derogatory to Daffys? Oh sweet Jeezus. The comments are derogatory to the fact that a nanny should not be leisurely shopping while on the clock to the distress of her charge!
No, go back and read the Daffy's threads. People made ridiculous comments about the store itself and those who shop there.
i think. if the nanny was well paid. she will have enough money to go to the gym and buy nice clothes.And a computer and find out how important she is.that this woman have notthing better to do.she just trying to make trouble for innocent people who trying to make a dollar.hope she can stand up for herself. poor nanny. probably dont know whats going on and dont know that there is a i saw your nanny site.
to the original poster of 181 street with the twins. she should not have let the kid urinate right in the open , but she could have taken him to a secluded spot. now ask yourself if this was your child would you have wanted him to come home soaked with urine because th nanny didnt let him urinate outside?.think about that ..
i live in washington heights and i see this ALOT...one time i was walking alone and i saw this little boy urinating on the sidewalk...i believe he may have been with a family member, another time i saw the same thing happen on broadway in front of a funeral home....seriously people....get it together and learn how to act and be respectable citizens!!!
please make it a more enjoyable place for the rest of us to live in......
To comment on the "how do you know this was a nanny" remark. I am a nanny, I have been for over 10 years and am very well paid by the family I work for. I don't wear "sweatsuits" all the time, nor am I over weight. I am also a mother of two. So I don't think you can know someone is a "nanny" just by the way they look. Nannies are all different types of people, fashion sense, weight, ect.
