Forest Park walking from the Elementary School Alexandria. VA

Tuesday, September 12, 2006 3:00 PM
I witnessed a boy I think was about six years old walking from the elementary school to Forest Park. The kid looked so happy and excited. He wanted to get home because he had made plans with his friend to come over and play. The nanny said, "oh no, all you do is make a mess at home, you can play here". The kid started to argue with her but she put her foot down and made a few more comments about how she wasn't in the mood to clean up one of his messes. The kid looked pretty sad but eventually realized his only choice was to play at the park. Which might have been fine except he didn't seem to know many people because he played on his own. The nanny plopped herself down and started reading her magazine.
The nanny wore a red zipper sweat shirt over a white shirt, black pants and some kind of almost velvet looking high top tennis shoes. She wore her hair in a pony tail with a blue band and was African American. The boys was wearing jeans, a white collared shirt and Nike tennis shoes. The nanny seems like a lazy b*tch, if she is your nanny, I suggest you start making playdates for your son. This is what children do at this age! What are you paying this woman for?
P.S. Boys make messes. That's what they do!

Ugh. Did that person really ask that? That has to be a nanny!
I have such empathy for stupid people, but perhaps they should stay off the internet alltogether?

How is it humanly possible for someone to be this stupid? A stranger to the world of blogging?
I don't have empathy for idiots like this. I have a zero tolerance policy for stupidity.

What an awful nanny. I am a sahm in Dobbs Ferry, NY and I know two nannies like that. I am sure those parents are coming home to houses much cleaner than mine, but no doubt because their nanny's won't host or reciprocate playdates and I do equate mess with fun for the under eight set!

Why would it have to be a nanny? Stupid people come from all walks of life.

As to the original post, for all we know, the parents may expect cleaning on top of the childcare without paying extra for the cleaning duties. Maybe the kid is spoiled and trashes the place. I know this may come as a suprise to you, but not catering to the charges' every little whim isn't abuse by nannies.

I wonder about Jennifer Le Carlo and the poster just below her. I hope neither are nannies. Are you really such impatient grouches with so little tolerance that you can't keep your mouths shut when a person asks a question about something that is new to them? I hope you're not actually making your living by caring for children. Seems it would be sort of an oxymoron in both your cases.

Valid concerns expressed in the original post but I'm willing to bet the parents are anal retentive clean freaks who think children should be kept spotlessly clean at all times and never be allowed to cause such an inconvenience as a mess on the nice clean kitchen floor.

I've seen a nanny of a tiny infant, just learning to crawl, at the playground, pick the baby up hurriedly when the baby was practicing its moves, saying "oh no, your parents don't want you to get dirty!".
