I used to make a ton of money to travel with the family, but the boys are older now, and my boss trusts me to set up things for them while we are away such as ski lessons or surf lessons, so I get plenty of down time. On a normal day, I make $280 a day. What has happened of late is that my boss will pay me my regular check and the give me an envelope with cash in it forthe extra days and time and kind of as a thank you.

I never take two weeks and I work non major holidays. Even if I don't work all day long, I work a portion of the day- just to get done what needs getting done. My boss never asked me to do this. I just started doing this. Sometimes it is a pain in the butt, but my boss demonstrates her appreciation for me every day.

-Do you get a yearly raise, and if so; how much? We provide a cost of living raise on an anual basis.
-Are you paid your normal salary while the family goes away on vacation? She gets paid based on a 80 hour week for each 7 days of travel, but we pay for all of her travel expenses, including first class air, luxury hotel, five star meals and more. We've even been known to have a cocktail with the nanny.-How much more do you make when you travel with the family? Not required.
-Do you get sick days? How many? Well we couldn't penalize someone from being sick. We do require a doctor note. I figure if your sick enough to miss work, you're sick enough to visit the doctor.-Do you get personal days? How many? Not required, but within reason, we would absolutely accomodate.
-Do you get vacation days? How many? 2 weeks per year.
-What kind of holiday bonus do you get? We provide a generous holiday bonus of 1.5 x her weekly salary.
-If you're an employer, would you guarantee your nanny work until her maternity leave begins? yes. if she could do the job.
-Would you pay her for any portion of her maternity leave? I would happily apply her two weeks vacation. We encouraged a previous nanny to file for disability. Her leave was covered.
-Would you make special accomodations for her to return to work after she had the baby? Within reason. So long as it did not include the inclusion of another child or the altering of the set hours.
-How long have you been in this position/had this nanny? Our nanny has been with us 2 yrs, 4 months.-Location? Saddle River, NJ
-Anything else? (Memberships to gym, theme parks, etc.) Our nanny is welcome to use our home gym, swimming pool and purchase anything her heart desires from the grocery store 7 days a week.
