A Saving Hand - by Marie Marrow (author of Tears of Gold)

There are some experiences that simply cannot be explained with logic or reason. Some stories that can only be told as divine intervention. This is the simple story of my encounter with IMO a miracle.
My daughter Chalsey was saved by this Hand twice. The first time was when we were living in Taiwan. The parking lot for our apartment complex was under ground. The staircase leading down to it was nearly two stories long of solid concrete. I was very cautions with my little ones, especially Chalsey who was still a wobbly toddler. A fall from that height could be deadly.

One day while I was helping another child with her shoes, Chalsey took off running ahead of me. As I rushed after her I could see that I would not get to her in time. At the speed she was running I knew that she would not be able to stop herself when she came to the stairs. Just beyond my reach I watched in slow motion as she tried to stop herself, lost her balance and fell forward. She was heading head first down two stories of concrete stairs. My heart nearly stopped beating. I screamed a split second prayer.

What happened next could only be described as a miracle. I saw her fall over those steps; her balance was totally forward and her head heading down. Then before she hit the first step an invisible hand lifted her back up and sat her down at the top of the stars. There was no way she could have defied gravity and gone back up. By the way it happened I could tell that an invisible hand had caught her by the front, pushed her back up, and landed her seated on the top step. I was grateful beyond words as I held her in my arms and said a heartfelt prayer of thanks.

About one year later we were enjoying a pleasant afternoon swim at a friend’s pool. Chalsey could not swim yet. She didn’t want to be in the water any more so she had taken off her water wings (floatation device) and was playing by the pool. I had gotten distracted with the older children at the far end of the pool. No one saw her get back in the water.

I heard a choke and cough behind me, and turned to see Chalsey struggling up the pool steps. She was traumatized choking and vomiting. I was in shock, realizing what a close call it was. I had no idea how close it had been. I held and comforted her for an hour until she recovered enough to tell me what happened.

She told me that she wanted to swim again but she had forgotten her water wings. She described how she sank, and was laying face down, on the bottom of the pool. Then she said, a hand lifted her up from under her belly, and put her on the top step. There was no one else at the pool besides us and she had not seen anyone. This invisible hand had saved her once again.

What a great HAND!!

Im a skeptic anyway when it comes to "miracles," but GOOD LORD - tell me the irresponsible and careless behavior here bothers someone else, Too? I mean, if I knew I lived by a dangerous concrete staircase, you better believe that I'd have everyone's shoes on and be holding hands before stepping out the door (That, and I teach my charges to come/stop when I call). Leaving a child unattended or unsupervised when they have access to a body of water is almost criminally negligent, in my opinion.

And for the love of God, people, if heaven forbid you find yourself in the latter situation where your child is choking and vomiting, don't comfort them for an hour - take them to am emergency room stat! Dry and secondary drowning are very real threats and this child should have been examined by a doctor. http://www.m.webmd.com/children/features/secondary-drowning-dry-drowning

guys - we got more than one view of this type story for what ever reason all at one time -(kids/miracles) so that is pretty much it for now, we turn very little away. We turn very little away.We pretty much print everything !

TO MORROW it will be KIDS AND (.....) what ever subject is awesome !!!

You print everything because you don't get very much... I'm in agreement with the others. This is supposed to be a site about nannies and nanny behavior and parents. What happened to that?

Anonymous - thank you, that is exactly correct, you have said a mouthful. There is a nice sight we have permission to draw from which ONLY posts nanny sightings. It's been 2 months since they have had any Ops, but - hey they are fine with that.

our group of people frequently say they check here on a regular basis to see what's new - they want something. There are other nanny groups out there and they rarely post anything new, and/or they make you wait a while before you can communicate.

there is much going on in the world and many many blogs out there.

the original owner of this blog quit in october of last year when it had been about 4 days from an Op and people were rude to her when she finally put up a new subject - not good enough etc LOL soo...

yeah, we are going to put up lot's of subjects - kid/nanny/child related - especially ACTIVISM!!! -and we thank anyone who reads.

Have a great day !!

We are with some charges for the next few hours but will have new postings later in the day

I'm 100% behind Taleia - it's irresponsible to let a child run in an unsafe place. Secondly, yes, secondary drowning/dry drowning are a very real thing and this child should have been seen by a doctor. Seems like a very irresponsible mother - if it was a nanny she should have been fired on the spot! Please don't rely on 'miracles' or 'divine interventions' but keep ALL of your children safe!

Anonymous, Why are you still here? It seems like you have a problem with everything this site does, posts, etc. So again, Why are you still here?

I happen to enjoy this site, I like the nanny sightings, I like the crafts, I like it all, (except the posts from complainers) THAT is why I am still here. Think of it this way, if you were watching TV and didn't like what was on, wouldn't you change the channel or turn of the tv? Why don't you just pretend this is a TV and change the channel.

Thank you.

Thank you for your input, Not Just a Nanny, I have been asking Anonoymous the same questions for months now. All she ever mostly does is complain and give negative comments. At least if she is going to criticize she could give constructive criticism. I also really enjoy what this site has to offer Leigh has done a wonderful job getting this up & running.
Marie this a good read and yes if it weren't for a miracle Little Chealsie may not be here today. As some of the posters say that you are not a careful parent or are neglectful. I believe that no matter how careful you are accidents do happen. Little ones are so quick bad things can happen in a blink of an eye. No one is perfect not even some of the above posters. Yes, I do agree partly with Telia, Chealsie should have been taken to the ER immediately.
I do believe in Devine intervention and the power of prayer, but I do not believe that it should be your only course of action. No one not even Jesus is going to help you if you do not initiate fist and help yourself.

Just saying, not all anonymous posts are the same person...

I agree. I post as anonymous, but I'm not THAT one up there. I don't have a blogger account, and I don't want to create one just to post comments on blogs I read. Therefore, I'm anonymous.

Jaxx and njan - thank you - Marie and her FOUR kids were in Taiwan at the time i'm noT sure they have the same er system we have. It's so hard as a nanny taking care of even 2 kids but 4? Jaxx reminds me of a saying from the movie "Sinbad the Sailor" from the 70's -" Trust in Allah - BUT KEEP ROWING TO SHORE!"

I know that all the "Anonymous" posters are not the same person, but we do know her when we see her posts!!
