Stuyvesant Square - NYC
NYC - Stuyvesant Square 5PM Monday Sept. 17th. Black nanny in jeans. Talking with another nanny who had a 3-ish yr. old girl and boy and a baby. This nanny was "taking care" of an approximately 18-month-old+ blond, little girl. Not much hair. Pink dress, still enthralled with walking. The nanny was talking to the other nanny so much that she didn't know where the toddler was and had to call and search for her. (Called her by a nickname, "Sweetie" (?) A pedestrian at another entrance to the park found her and sent her back to her nanny. I was sitting on a bench for approx. 7 minutes before she even realized the toddler was not in sight. The 3-ish girl kept calling out to her brother, but I couldn't catch the name. It was something traditional, old-school - like Sebastian or Christian.

thank you for taking the time to watch out for that young girl, it is so scary what could happen - if you go back there try to get a picture if you see this happening again- update us if possible
Both nannies lost track of their kids?
How awful!
Poor babies!
I will never understand how you can go out with your charge and not pay any mind to them.
Anything could have happened to those babies!
This is just awful! Was the little girl *outside* of the park?? That's how it sounds-- or at least very nearly there. Terrible. I can understand talking to a nanny friend, but to the point where you *lose children*?? People who don't absolutely love toddlers shouldn't work with them-- they're too vulnerable, in so many ways. I hope the parents see this.
This is really messed up. These kids deserve better.
Toddlers at this age need CONSTANT attention. Seems this nanny cared more about her conversation than her charge.
If this were my nanny + child, I would most definitely want to know about this.
Someone could have kidnapped this poor child.
When a child gets out of my line of site (in a tunnel, behind the slide, etc) I panic if I don't see them pop up a few seconds later. I just can not relate to parents & caregivers, who can RELAX and conversate, not knowing exactly WHERE "their" child is and what they are doing and whom they are with. I freak! I wouldn't mind if I could learn to relax a bit more-but its just not me.
I work with 12 month old twins- bracing myself. Toddlers NEED expansive space to roam. My memory is that CA licensing requires classrooms to have more square feet for children this'll the toddler age bracket than they do for preschool children- for this very reason.
I feel so lucky to have broad expansive nature spaces for my babes to crawl around. Just the other day they made it from the top of a big grassy hill all the way to the bottom and they were overjoyed with the sense of freedom. Toddlers seek this. I can't imagine going 7 whole minutes without being able to see any of my kids, let alone a tod. This nanny strikes me as very inexperienced.
$$ = the bottom line. You get what you pay for - most always.
I totally understand that some nanny is not doing there job, Also some mom's is not doing there job,if you want kids u should be a good mom, just don't act when poeple is around you, some act like the best mom in the park, and home she will sit and cryed....
I cant believe how some of these Nannies even get jobs! How can a parent give a reference without really checking up on their childcare. How can they just leave their child in a stranger's care without thoroughly verifying the Nanny experience and qualifications?I have been searching for a Nanny position and found no leads. I just feel sorry that the bad Nannies are getting the jobs while I am (a great Nanny) stuck at home.
