I applied to over 100 nannying jobs on craigslist with the idea that a lot of them wouldn't get back to me. For the first week, I got about 10 responses and I'm seriously considering a couple of them. However, there's been a steadier flow of interest and if I'm on the verge of taking a job, how do I turn down people who call or email me? I feel bad disappointing them, but I'm taken!

If you are certain you have a job take down the listing. Then if you choose to respond, many families send outmultiple emails and don't expect a response to all) a simple thanks for contacting me, but I've accepted a position best of luc should be enough. If you know another reliable nanny looking for work you can offer to pass their info along.
I agree, take the listing down. A simple "Thank you for getting back to me, unfortunately I have taken another position, best of luck in finding a nanny for your family" is all you need to say, if anything.
I wouldn't worry about this too much. Sure, you can respond saying you found a position, however you are not obligated to. Many people on CL are flakes so they probably are not expecting much.
Good for you that you got a job already. I have had a heck of a time finding a new job lately.
