I was just used... I think!

I really like my MB and kids and they had me accompany them to a wedding (to watch their kids). There was a room with many toys JUST for the kids which was where I was with the children. There were 30 other kids acting horribly, getting into fights, running, etc. A mother stuck her head in and said "do your job they are running everywhere" There were two teens that were being paid and just sat there giggling on the cell phones... What should I have done? I just kept my two kids occupied and stayed away from the awful kids.

It doesn't sound like you were used. If I understand correctly, your DB and MB hired (and paid) you to provide care for their kids at a function, which you did. You were under no obligation to provide any sort of xare for the other kids, nor does it sound like MB and DB expected you to. Obviously the guest was confused as to your role, but since she's not your employer, that doesn't really matter. If the mom had persisted (or if you wanted to clear up the confusion) you could have politely said "I think you want those two, I'm just here to watch my charges."

Situations like these are never fun (because that's childcare hell haha) but unless your MB and DB tried to get you to watch the other kids, it's all good.

The only way you could say you were used would be if you'd ended up looking after those other kids - and since you didn't, you weren't! Can't think of a more appropriate occasion to have used the classic phrase "Sorry, I don't work here"...
