Bad Nanny @ NY Public Library
At Bloomingdale branch of NY Public Library on West 100th St., a dark-skinned nanny with very short curly hair, responsible for a baby boy less than a year old in a dark blue/black baby carriage with a gray hood. She stayed with him in the hallway talking to another nanny who was responsible for a baby girl. The nanny let the baby boy scream for easily 30 minutes, and looked like she was so annoyed with him. When I finally saw him out of the carriage, she was sort of holding him but there was no love or caring. I was shocked and thought that the parents should know because if this is occurring every day it will seriously impact the happiness of this child. The boy was wearing a light blue one piece with thin white stripes.

I can only imagine how she treats him behind closed doors, if she is willing to be so careless in public...
This nanny sounds like an idiot.
To let a baby scream in a library is stupid.
To let him scream for a half hour straight is downright idiotic.
There are so many good nannies out there looking for jobs.
Nannies like this one should find another profession.
Not seeing the omigosh so bad in this post. She let a baby cry for no more than 30 minutes possibly less accounting for exaggeration. Most likely the tot didn't' want to sit in the stroller. Then what she didn't cuddle him as much as op would have liked?
Letting a child cry for a half hour in a library is inconsiderate. While I don't necessarily see it as an 'OMG' post, it would make me question that nanny's ability to utilize her common sense hat.
I'm wondering why the librarians didn't say anything.
If it was truly 30 minutes, and you were concerned for his safety/happiness, why wouldn't you say something? There are so many extenuating circumstances that you just can't know the whole situation, and why she was ignoring her charge. Maybe he was just having a tantrum, I know I ignore my charge when he is behaving that way. Nannies have long, stressful days, just like parents do, and not every look, gesture, or touch is going to be filled with love, that's just life. Perhaps this woman was just a bit overwhelmed at the moment...so sad how quickly people leap to judge.
If the baby was ACTUALLY crying for 30 straight minutes someone would have come over to see what, if anything was wrong.
Also, if the OP was so concerned with the borderline emergency situation she should have approached the caregiver or called the Police.
